Chapter 52: Eyes of the blood Dragon

The Vorrakyn family was like a sinking ship, and everyone was trying their best to get away from it. They started to make different deals to save their own life.

Everyone wanted to leave unscathed.

It was then that Drenvar got his hands on the technique to summon a Dragon. A Dragon that ultimately destroyed everyone.

Now that Vacuse thought about it, isn’t that just too suspicious? Somehow, a long-lost technique of the Vorrakyn family "returned" just when they were surrounded by enemies and needed an escape.

Everyone turned on the Vorrakyn. To be honest, that fact still makes Vacuse twitch now and then.

’..if I want to build the family....I need to clear it of traitors..’

It took some time before Zorathian responded, and when he did, there was killing intent flashing in his eyes. "So what are you going to do? It won’t be easy to kill me."

Vacuse shook his head. "You are too important to kill."

For now.

Zorathian laughed sarcastically. "Oh, I get it now. You are going to ask me to kill your father, right? What a hypocrite!"

Vacuse blinked. "Yes. I’m a hypocrite, and I would have asked you to kill him this instant if you would do it or if I need to kill him now."

Zorathian could only stare at him in shock, and then he slowly shook his head. He hadn’t met a shameless person in a long time.

"There’s no reason to kill Drenvar now. I’m not strong enough to hold Vorrakyn together, and he’s really powerful. The enemies would only try to finish us faster if I be the Dragon Lord now."

Zorathian shook his head. He could feel a headache starting to build up. "What do you want?"

"Let’s talk about what you want. Drenvar did not have the red eyes of the Blood Dragon."

There was a long pause.

And then Zorathian shot forward. The glint of a dagger appeared in his hand, and it stood inches from slashing his throat. His eyes were hard and vicious. "You fucking bastard son of a whore. What do you know?"

Vacuse met the eyes with unblinking calmness. "You’re not going to kill me, Zorathian. Drop that thing in your hand and talk like a normal human being and not a son of shit." ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

He hesitated, and then Zorathian returned to his seat, but he didn’t return the dagger. He put it on the table and watched Vacuse with narrowed eyes. Zorathian didn’t understand how the boy before him turned from a humble kid to a snake.

’..it was all an act. He was playing me the whole time!..’ Zorathian fumed.

Vacuse frowned slightly at the dagger and got his heartbeat back to normal. "That’s what you want, isn’t it? Eyes of the Blood Dragon. A legendary artifact of the family."

Zorathian didn’t say anything and only stared.

The Eyes of the Blood Dragon is an artifact of the Vorrakyn family that was created at the same time as the blood tree and blood fruits. It was made from the Blood Dragon, created from the eyes of the Blood Dragon.

And it was listed as one of the five top artifacts of the family.

It could grant one things. It could activate the bloodline of the Blood Dragon directly into the user’s body.

Just like the Ruler artifact, it would be implanted into the eyes. They had to exchange their eyes for it. If such a bloodline was activated, then it would grant some of the tiniest properties of Dragons. Most especially—strong life.

Something that Zorathian desperately needed.

"That is what you want. A strong life. You don’t want to die young due to the Ruler artifact in your heart," Vacuse said. "So you need the Eyes of the Blood Dragon."

Two of the Rulers in the Vorrakyn’s history used it, and it worked for them.

It was also something Zorathian wanted to use.

"And it’s likely what the traitors promised you. Isn’t that right?" It was also a guess, but it wasn’t a hard one. For someone like Zorathian, that was really what he would want, and he just came to the likely conclusion based on the fact that the artifact is also the only thing that the Vorrakyn has that would help him.

Zorathian didn’t say anything for a long time. "You... how do you know?"

"Because it’s the only thing you can truly want," Vacuse said simply.

Zorathian shook his head. "You lie. I am the Watch. I have the records of the other Watches. The Eyes of the Blood Dragon is still in the vault."

"Is it now? It was lost in battle. The one that wore it last died in battle," Vacuse said.

Zorathian narrowed his eyes. "You’re a bastard just recently turned heir. You can’t know the history of the Vorrakyn more than me. The Watch."

Vacuse’s eyes twitched. "I know more than you think. Haven’t I shown you that already, Lord Watch?

"The traitors said they would give you the Eyes of the Blood Dragon in the vault because Drenvar didn’t give you. I mean, you can betray the man you swore to serve, but at the very least you should do it because of something other than a lie."

"Isn’t it ironic that you are doing the same thing? How do I know you are telling the truth or not?"

Vacuse shrugged. "I will give you verification of what you want. No, I will give you the Eyes of the Blood Dragon."

"And in return?"

"Right now, I am not strong enough. The Vorrakyn is sinking, but some people wanted it to sink faster. My appearance isn’t pleasing to you. I want you to serve me and be my sword in the shadow. I want you to clear all disturbances from my way until I’m ready."

Zorathian raised his brows, a gleam in his eyes. "There’s only so much I can do. The Vorrakyn has a lot of people looking at it and thinking it’s prey. They are powerful."

Vacuse shrugged. "Then do the one you can. That’s the price."
