Chapter 525: Chapter 525: Do not leave me!

Morning crept into the cavern like an unwanted guest. Isabella blinked awake in her tent, her face slightly swollen from crying the night before. She wiped her cheek once, irritated at the reminder, and immediately remembered the reason she was sad in the first place.

Then she remembered Osiris.

Her mood crashed.

Just the memory of his stupid question, his stupid face, and his stupid existence made her blood boil again. She groaned into her pillow.

He ruined her night by breathing. He ruined her morning by existing. What a talent.

She stretched her limbs lazily, then rolled out of the bed inside her tent. Her tent was basically a miniature palace. She had a bed. A table. A tiny vanity mirror. A washing area. Shelves from her space inventory. It was clean. Cozy. Safe. And most importantly, it was Osiris free.

Glimora snuggled up beside her, stretching like a spoiled cat. Isabella picked her up and kissed the top of her tiny head. "Good morning," she whispered softly.

Glimora chirped happily.

That was the only person she wanted to talk to right now.

Isabella washed her face, fixed her hair, tied it neatly, and changed into a clean dress she pulled from her space. She tightened the belt around her waist, then opened a small box containing breakfast biscuits and fruit. Glimora immediately reached out with her tiny hands.

"Here," Isabella said, handing her one. "You are the only one who deserves kindness."

They sat together eating quietly. For once, she felt like she could breathe properly.

Then she remembered she had to exit the tent.

And see him.

Immediately her mood soured again. "Ugh."

She wiped her hands, straightened her clothes, adjusted her hair, took a deep breath, and finally stepped out of the tent.

Osiris sat near the cave wall with his legs crossed, staring into the distance. The moment she emerged from the tent, his entire posture changed. His back straightened. His eyes brightened. His face actually lit up like he had just seen sunlight after years in the dark.

Isabella ignored him.

She walked right past like he was a badly placed tree stump.

He blinked at her, confused. He clearly sensed her mood, but he also sensed her moods every day. She was always angry. Always frustrated. Always irritated. So this was normal.

He still tried.

"You look beautiful this morning."

Isabella froze.

Her brain malfunctioned for two full seconds.

Beautiful?

Osiris?

To her?

She almost turned around to check if a demon had possessed him. Or if someone had swapped his lungs with a stranger’s lungs. But she forced her face to stay neutral. She refused to give him the satisfaction of seeing her shocked.

She just bent down, grabbed her tent, folded it neatly, and placed it into her space inventory without saying a single word.

Osiris stared, waiting.

Nothing.

She kept ignoring him.

That hurt him more than she knew.

She walked toward the cavern’s exit and quietly activated her system. "Is it safe."

The text in her mind appeared.

Dark hour has passed. Proceed with caution.

She nodded and began climbing out.

The exit was narrow, steep, and frankly stupid. She squeezed herself through carefully, gripping the rough rock edges. Glimora clung to her shoulder, tiny claws holding her dress.

Isabella was halfway up when her foot slipped slightly.

Her heart stopped. "Fuck. Fuck."

Osiris shot to his feet instantly. "Isabella."

She did not look down. She refused. The drop below her was the kind of drop that made people rethink their life choices.

Osiris sprinted to the edge and reached toward her, his arm stretching instinctively as if he could catch her mid air if she fell. Even though he could not transform, there was something animalistic in the way he moved. Quick. Sharp. Unhuman.

She regained her balance and pulled herself out of the cavern with a shaky breath.

"Fuck," she muttered under her breath again. "Fuck. I almost died. Fuck."

Glimora patted her cheek comfortingly.

Isabella dusted herself aggressively. Dust. Dirt. Regret. Everything off her body.

When she finally got herself together, she stood and started walking.

Behind her, Osiris yelled dramatically from below. "You left me here."

She screamed back, "What. Did you expect me to carry you along. Are you stupid."

He was offended. "I am injured."

"You are annoying."

She flicked her hair over her shoulder. "You have ten seconds to get up here. If you do not, I am leaving your ass down there."

She turned around and literally counted with her fingers.

"One."

Osiris straightened.

"Two."

He crouched like he was preparing for a sprint.

"Three."

He disappeared.

By the time her mouth opened to say four, Osiris was right beside her like he had teleported. It was not human. Not even close. She forgot sometimes that even without his phoenix powers, he was still a beastman. Faster than humans. Stronger. Built differently. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

He landed beside her with a smug smile that made her want to push him off the mountain.

He looked down at her from his annoying tall height, arms folded, grin cocky enough to kick.

She glared at him with pure hatred. "I hate you."

"I know," he said cheerfully.

She turned around and started walking again. Fast. Angry. Determined to leave him behind.

But Osiris followed like a lost, overly dramatic dog.

"Wait," he called. "Do not leave me."

She walked faster.

"Where are we going."

No response.

"Are we going to have breakfast," he added, mocking her gently. "Are you angry. Are you sick. Are you ignoring me again."

She kept walking.

Osiris rushed to match her pace. "Isabella. Isabella. Isabella."

She refused to acknowledge him.
