The Spoiled Young Lady Who Married a Military Officer-Chapter 108 - 106: Were You Satisfied with My Performance Last Night?
Her face flushed, she shoved the mess of things under the table. Just as she turned around, she saw Lu Xiao standing in the doorway.
"Why are you back?"
Perhaps it was her guilty conscience, because seeing the man himself now made Su Tang’s face turn an even deeper shade of red. Her voice sounded a little unnatural.
"What were you doing? Why are you so flustered?"
Lu Xiao walked in and placed what he was carrying on the table.
"Mom just learned to make a few things. She was going to wait until your next visit to let you try them, but I was free this afternoon, so I brought them over for you."
Su Tang turned to look at the food on the table and just said, "Oh," a few times.
The next second, a cool hand rested on her forehead.
"Are you sick? Your face is so red, and you’re a little warm."
The physical contact with Lu Xiao made Su Tang jump back immediately. She turned away to hide her unnatural expression.
"I’m... I’m not sick. It’s just maybe a little too stuffy in the room."
After Su Tang spoke, Lu Xiao sat down. As he stretched out his legs, he happened to kick the jar of Ten-Complete Replenishing Wine under the table.
Just as he was about to bend down, Su Tang came over and grabbed his hand.
"Have you eaten? If not, I’ll go make you something."
"Tangtang, you’re acting so strangely right now. Are you sure nothing’s wrong?"
Lu Xiao’s dark eyes stared straight at her, making Su Tang’s skin crawl.
Su Tang was on the verge of tears. She wished she could just throw that jar of Ten-Complete Replenishing Wine out right in front of him.
’This is just too awkward. I hadn’t even had a chance to get rid of it, and he came back. His timing is just perfect.’
"You sit here and rest. I’ll go cook. I’ll stay here tonight and head back tomorrow morning."
Before, Su Tang had been eager to reunite with Lu Xiao. But the situation now was so awkward that she wished he would leave immediately.
But of course, her worst fears came true. When she heard Lu Xiao was going to stay, her expression changed.
’I can only pray he doesn’t discover what’s under the table. Otherwise, I’ll be the one to suffer.’
Lu Xiao was quick and efficient. He soon finished cooking and brought the food to the table.
The husband and wife, rarely able to get together, talked for quite a while.
Later that night, after they had both washed up, they lay in bed.
Lu Xiao reached out and turned off the light. An instant later, his arm wrapped around her.
"When I was washing up just now, I found a jar under the table. The smell of medicinal herbs inside was very strong."
His voice was composed and calm. Su Tang’s eyes widened slightly.
"Oh, that... That’s..."
Su Tang wanted to explain but didn’t know what to say. She couldn’t possibly admit she made it herself, could she?
"What is it?"
But Lu Xiao wasn’t about to let her off the hook and pressed her for an answer.
His arms were still around Su Tang, leaving her with no escape.
"It’s..."
"In the past, you’d always beg for mercy, so I’d let you off. I never thought you secretly felt I wasn’t up to par and went and bought that kind of thing behind my back."
After Lu Xiao said this, Su Tang understood.
"You know what that is?"
"Even if I didn’t know what it was, I’d have figured it out after opening it and seeing what was steeping inside."
He was still smiling, but his hands had started to wander, tracing circles on her body.
"If you feel my performance has been lacking, you can just tell me directly. I’m more than happy to be of service to my dear wife and show you what I’m truly capable of."
The moment Lu Xiao finished speaking, he didn’t give Su Tang another chance to talk.
Of course, he knew Su Tang would never buy something like Ten-Complete Replenishing Wine.
But regardless of where it came from, he had to make Su Tang understand.
He was only holding back out of consideration for her. If she was willing, he would of course let her know...
The two of them went at it until the early hours of the morning, leaving Su Tang completely drowsy.
She even felt parched.
In a daze, she felt Lu Xiao clean her up and even give her some water to drink.
When Su Tang woke up the next day, Lu Xiao was already gone. On the table was a meal he had prepared, along with a cup of brown sugar water.
Under the enamel mug was a slip of paper.
The flamboyant handwriting highlighted the man’s pleasure from the previous night.
—Last night’s performance might not have satisfied you. I’ll be sure to perform better next time I’m back.
Reading the words on the note, Su Tang was so angry she crumpled it into a ball and threw it on the floor.
’That Lu Xiao! He must have done it on purpose. He knew perfectly well I would never buy that kind of thing.’
Su Tang grimaced, holding her aching back as she headed to work at the hospital. She had just arrived and had barely sat down in her office when she heard a knock on the door.
"Excuse me, are you Doctor Su Tang?"
Hearing this, Su Tang looked up and said, "Come in."
"You are?"
"My grandfather was treated here last time. Thank you so much. If it weren’t for your decisive action, my grandfather might have..."
The young man before her was about twenty years old, wearing glasses and appearing quite refined.
His voice was also very gentle and pleasant to listen to.
"Oh, so that was your grandfather. It was nothing. As a doctor, it’s my duty. You don’t have to be so formal."
Mu Tianrui looked at the lovely, smiling Su Tang before him, and his face couldn’t help but turn slightly red.
After hearing his grandmother’s story, he had assumed the doctor who treated them was a very experienced, seasoned physician. He hadn’t expected her to be so young.
She was young, beautiful, and spoke with such gentleness.
"I’m here to give you a banner of gratitude, Doctor Su."
After speaking, Mu Tianrui stepped forward and placed the banner he was holding on Su Tang’s desk.
Emblazoned on the banner were four large words: Miraculous Hands Revive Life.
It is a very happy occasion for a doctor to receive a banner from a patient, and Su Tang was no exception.
"You really don’t have to be so formal, but I’ll accept the banner. Thank you for your kind intentions."
After she spoke, the young man showed no intention of leaving. Su Tang, not understanding why, looked at him with a hint of confusion in her eyes.
"Is there something else? Do you need a consultation?"
"No, no! It’s, I mean, my grandfather would like to invite you to dinner, Doctor Su."
After saying this, the young man seemed to feel he had been too forward. He waved his hands and explained incoherently.
"My grandfather’s condition has improved a lot. He told me I absolutely must come and thank you, and he wanted me to ask when you’re free so we can invite you to our home as a guest."
"A life-saving favor must be repaid tenfold. That’s just how my grandfather thinks. So please, Doctor Su, don’t refuse."
Listening to the young man, Su Tang felt a bit helpless.
"You really don’t need to be so formal. My husband is with the local garrison, so we’re all part of the same community. A meal isn’t necessary. Please pass on my thanks to your grandfather for his kind offer."
Su Tang’s refusal was crisp and direct.
She just didn’t expect that when Mu Tianrui heard her mention she had a husband, he would completely freeze.
"You’re married?"
