The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 187: Then Go
After Christmas, Leo Grant became busy again, entangled in tedious matters every day, and working late into the night.
Holly Sawyer felt sorry for Leo and took the initiative to share his burden, helping him handle documents on her own.
"Suddenly, I feel that power and money aren’t really that great."
Holly leaned on the sofa, yawning lightly, her voice slow and unhurried.
Those who have these things are never at ease, but are exhausted every day, dealing with endless trivial matters.
Many people envy Leo Grant for starting his own business in Bexley, owning a large company.
In Arkenfall, he has the opportunity to inherit the Grant Family’s estate, born into privilege with strong capabilities.
Living a prosperous life.
This is undoubtedly the envy of many, but no one knows just how hard Leo really works.
There’s a saying: People are only amazed by the brilliance of successful flowers.
Yes, people only see the glamorous exterior of successful individuals, but not their efforts behind the scenes.
"It’s not that great, but it’s not good to have nothing either."
Leo looked at Holly, speaking slowly, his tone full of helplessness.
In this society, although we say everyone is equal, there are still differences in status and standing.
People without status and wealth are scorned, ostracized.
So, power and money have good and bad sides.
Having them is exhausting, but without them, one would face injustice.
"Yes, indeed."
Holly nodded, expressing her agreement.
That’s really the way it is.
"Brother, let’s save enough money, and in middle age, set off to travel the world, alright?"
"We can find a picturesque place to retire and spend our later years peacefully."
Holly blinked as she spoke earnestly.
Yeah, these things are really exhausting.
She has little concept of money, with investments bringing in a monthly income, she lazes around without the thought of earning lots and lots.
As long as it’s enough.
Leo nodded: "Alright."
"Brother, will you celebrate your birthday at the old house?"
Holly yawned softly, asking slowly.
Yeah, she actually wanted to celebrate Leo’s birthday alone, but considering that his twenty-third birthday was somewhat special, celebrating it alone didn’t quite seem right.
"Yes, my grandfather will be hosting it, and he will officially announce me as the heir of the Grant Family."
Leo nodded.
He doesn’t like extravagant celebrations for his birthdays; since childhood, he either didn’t celebrate at all or just quietly with a few close friends.
Always pretty low-key, not many people involved.
But this time, a grand celebration is unavoidable.
"Hmm, sure must be a lot of people then."
Holly looked at the ceiling, speaking slowly.
Though she loves bustling food streets and enjoys lively surroundings, she’s not the type to seek out every kind of hustle and bustle.
Imagining the scene at Leo’s birthday party, she felt a sudden reluctance to attend.
Leo: "A lot."
All invited by Elder Grant. He only needs to make an appearance and go through the motions; the rest isn’t his concern.
"Can I not go?"
Holly asked, lazily lifting her eyelids.
I really don’t want to go.
Leo: "Why?"
"I don’t like that kind of scene."
Holly shook her head, saying that attending would just feel awkward.
She’s just a girlfriend, inevitably inviting gossip.
Her biggest trait is laziness: too lazy to argue, explain, or confront such matters.
"I want to introduce you to everyone, let them all know that you, Holly Sawyer, are my girlfriend."
"Please come, okay? Just stand by me; you won’t need to speak."
"If you don’t come, I’ll be unhappy. How can you not be there on my birthday?"
Leo pulled Holly into his arms, kissing her forehead gently, his voice soft. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
If those he cares about don’t attend, how could he be happy? Surely he wouldn’t feel any joy.
"I can celebrate with you alone, or celebrate in advance."
Holly blinked, speaking earnestly.
Yes, she could celebrate with Leo in advance, inviting a few good friends, as opposed to attending the Grant Family banquet, which she was reluctant to do.
"I want you with me."
Leo stubbornly insisted, rejecting Holly’s suggestion.
No other thoughts, just wanting Holly by his side.
There’s everything else he can acquiesce to, but not this one request. He wants to introduce Holly to everyone, let all know she’s his cherished girlfriend.
"My girlfriend, I won’t hide away; I want to openly let the world know."
Leo ruffled Holly’s hair, his gaze intent on her.
He didn’t want to keep it a secret at all, wished for openness. Thus, he planned to use his birthday banquet to introduce Holly.
Holly gently bit her lip, hesitating a little.
Really quite torn.
Leo watched her lips, his Adam’s apple moving before he leaned in to kiss her.
Holly, caught off guard, instinctively jerked back.
"Can you promise me?"
Leo’s gaze focused intently on Holly, asking slowly.
Holly bit her lip, remaining silent.
Leo kissed her again.
Holly: "???"
What’s up with that?
Kissing her out of nowhere?
"Do you want to agree?"
Leo asked again.
Holly stared wide-eyed at him, silent.
Leo kissed her once more.
Holly: "???"
"What are you doing?"
Three times is too much. Holly looked at Leo, speechless.
"If you don’t promise me, I’ll keep kissing you until you do."
Leo blinked at Holly, his voice earnest, sincerity evident in his tone.
Holly: "???"
This kind of move really left Holly speechless, making her not want to talk at all.
"So, Holly, will you agree to my request?"
Leo asked once more.
Holly continued to stay silent.
"Stop, stop, stop, I’ll agree, alright?"
Seeing Leo about to kiss her yet again, Holly quickly pushed him away, speaking with a face of disbelief.
Really had no idea where Leo learned this trick from.
She had barely hesitated for a moment, and Leo pulled this kind of move.
"Glad you agreed."
Leo smiled, his face lit up brightly.
"Just so you know, I’ve got a bad temper."
Holly reminded him, stating that there’d be no assurance she wouldn’t get upset if anything occurred that displeased her.
