Chapter 368: Strategy (2)

"Then tell us faster. Why are you wasting time?" Amon said impatiently, not stopping himself from throwing a jab at Vetaal.

Vetaal glared at him with annoyance. "I am telling you. Be quiet for a while," he retorted.

Then he continued speaking.

"This place is more like a space covered by a barrier that separates us from the outside world, cutting down its connection to the island known as Pārijātavana, or the Grave of the Celestial Tree." He talked in slightly tensed tone. His expression serious.

He said further, "It is maintained by those four towers. If we think logically, once the barrier gets broken after deactivating those towers... this place will automatically connect to the outside world. So there is no need to worry about that... we can keep the weak villagers and children in the village while a few stay to protect them. All the monsters would be surrounding those towers."

He was not done talking yet. "So it won’t be a problem. Their safety is mostly confirmed... unless."

Scarlett narrowed her eyes slightly with curiosity. "Unless what?" she asked.

Vetaal looked at her calmly. "Unless we attack only one tower all together and nearly kill all the guarding monsters... then those who were protecting the other towers will attack and back up the one we were attacking."

Mark frowned slightly and leaned forward, placing both hands on the table. "Wait... doesn’t that mean we can’t attack the towers at the same time?"

Vetaal shook his head. "No, we can. It’s better to divide into four groups and then attack each one of those separately at the same time."

Roland sighed softly and rubbed his temples. "Okay... guess we could do that."

Malphas stroked his long beard thoughtfully before speaking. "Those monsters... are mostly rank two or rank three. So one Transcendent will be enough in each group to handle them. The problem would be those monsters who are rank five or... six. It will be a lot harder to handle the situation if they are also present, hidden somewhere."He was pointing out an important thing.

The old demon, who was more than a hundred years old, was still at the peak of the Transcendent rank.

That was understandable since the mana here was weird, less in amount and harder to absorb to rank up. Even Scarlett, who was considered talented, was stuck at the Master Ascendent level for the last three years.

The old man had been at the Master rank when he came here. He was able to break through into Master Ascendent and then Transcendent over the course of eighty-two years. After all they could do here was meditation... no real fighting.

Which was really bad thing for progress in powers.

For one to break through higher ranks earlier, they needed talent, hard work, and lastly battle experience, which was the most important out of everything. Going through life-and-death situations and gaining enlightenment. These factors helped one break through earlier. But sadly, not everyone had these things or went through them.

Vetaal thought deeply for a moment before speaking. "There will most likely be no rank six monster here protecting it."

Everyone looked surprised and also relieved.

"But there will be those rank five monsters, probably inside those towers... waiting for us. Now how many there will be... I don’t know. I hope it will only be one...but again..there’s still chance for six rank monster to exist," Vetaal said while continuing to float above them.

All of them heard him with tensed expression.

Amon was sweating now. He still remember the bird monster who was at least fifth rank, chasing him. Then that monster clash against another same level monster. Both were beyond terrifying.

Now they have to face those level monsters soon.

On the other side Roland nodded and spoke in a firm tone.

"Alright, it’s settled then. There are a total of fifty-two people from outside who know how to fight. Out of them, eight will stay in the village protecting it. We will choose them according to their strength."

He paused briefly before continuing.

"The remaining forty-four will be divided into four groups of eleven people. Each group will have at least one Transcendent. We will choose other youngsters and adults from the villagers who are strong enough to fight with us. Hopefully we can get at least one hundred... twenty-five for each group." He said while his index finger tapping on the table. His eyes focused on everyone.

Karen frowned slightly with concern before asking, "But can a group of thirty-six be enough for us to defeat those hundreds of monsters?"

Roland sighed lightly and answered honestly.

"I don’t know... but we have no choice but to try. A Transcendent can handle at least hundreds of rank two and rank four monsters. So it won’t be as hard as you think. Only rank five will be dangerous." His words were logical. Transcendent have strength enough to kill that many monsters.

Karen exhaled in relief. "Okay."

She had been tense while thinking about hundreds of monsters against only thirty-six people.

Scarlett then looked toward Vetaal with a thoughtful expression. "But Vetaal, what about those doors? They won’t open. I tried attacking them, yet they didn’t budge."

Her question was valid. Even if they killed all the monsters, how could they enter if the doors wouldn’t open? She had tried a strong attack on the door before. But it didn’t even move in slightest. Not even a dent form on it.

Vetaal waved his hand dismissively. "Don’t worry about that. Once they appear this time, those doors will be unlocked soon."

Roland nodded and looked at everyone’s faces.

"Alright... that’s for today. We will talk about this again later. Me, Kael, Rei, and Sir Malphas will try to select people and also form the groups. You will get to know it soon."

Everyone nodded in agreement.

Roland then spoke calmly. "Okay, you guys can go now. It’s dinner time after all."

Slowly everyone started to leave the place.

Amon and Scarlett as well left, behind them Vetaal followed while floating, like a ghost.
