The Smiling Death-Chapter 308: Vampires and Werewolves
Amon adjusted him again on his back and continued walking.
"Alright," Amon began. "The world now runs on seven rank progression...."
He started to tell him about the current ranks. About other continents, kingdoms on each continents. About different races. About abyssal races which were Demons, Werewolves and Vampires.
Also he told him about goddess of light and Goddess of Abyss.
As he spoke, Vetaal listened silently.
He was listening very silently. His white eyes gleamed faintly. Amusement and interest gleamed in his eyes.
And Amon, unaware of the depth behind that gaze, continued speaking trading pieces of the current world for secrets that might shape his future.
---
After listening to Amon, Vetaal remained silent for a while.
Amon continued walking. The air was getting colder. The gray sky was growing darker, signaling that night would come soon.
Amon glanced slightly to the side and spoke to break the silence. "What happened? You suddenly went silent. So what do you think? How’s the world compared to your time?"
Vetaal responded in a light tone, "How’s the current world compared to my time... well, it’s very different, to be honest."
Amon grew more curious and quickly asked, "Oh really? So now it’s your turn. Tell me, how was the world in your time?"
Vetaal hummed for a while before starting to explain. "Firstly... something that I am hearing for the first time from you... it’s about werewolves and vampires. That race... it didn’t exist in my time... or rather, in my era. It’s my first time hearing about them."
Amon’s eyes widened in disbelief as he exclaimed, "What?! What do you mean they were not in your time? How old are you actually? From which era are you?"
Vetaal answered calmly, "It seems I have been asleep for much longer than I had thought. I am from the Second Era. I have been stuck here since the end of the Second Era."
Amon’s eyes widened in pure shock. "You are from the Second Era? That might be around more than five thousand years ago..." His expression turned horrified.
Vetaal let out a dry laugh. "Yeah... I must be. Haha, I really thought it had only been hundreds or maybe a thousand years since I went into deep slumber. But more than five thousand... even I had not expected that."
Amon swallowed hard and asked again, "...So... there were really no races like vampires and werewolves?"
Vetaal replied firmly, "No... there were none. The races you mentioned besides those two... they were all present at that time. But not those two. Tell me about them... how do they look? What are their traits?"
Amon nodded slightly and began explaining, "Both of them look like humans, though I have never seen one personally. It is said that vampires have paler skin, while werewolves are taller and more muscular...."
"Vampires are a race that drinks blood. It’s their primary food. They can also live on normal food like meat and vegetables, but they still need to drink some amount of blood from time to time. It’s very important."
He continued further, "They are masters in blood arts, and they love human blood. We are like blood packs... or food for them. Meanwhile, werewolves are the biggest enemies of vampires. They are physically stronger. They have a wolf form that they can transform into a huge wolf. During a full moon, their strength increases by a lot."
Amon tried to keep it as brief as possible.
Vetaal listened quietly before asking with interest, "Interesting... by the way, why are they called the Abyssal race?"
Amon answered naturally, "Well, because they are creations of the Abyss Goddess, the Goddess of Death. While we humans and other races were created by the Light Goddess, also known as the Goddess of Life."
After hearing Amon’s explanation, Vetaal suddenly burst into laughter. "Hahahaha! You people... where the hell did you get this information from? You are so wrong."
Amon frowned deeply and replied defensively, "What do you mean we are wrong? Aren’t we created by the Goddess of Light, while demons and others were created by the Abyssal Goddess? Maybe you don’t know because vampires and werewolves came into existence after you got sealed here."
Vetaal shook his head slowly. "No, boy. Firstly, the Goddess of the Abyss... whom you consider the Goddess of Death... in truth, she is not the Goddess of Death. She is the Abyssal Goddess, but not of death."
Amon stared at him in confusion and asked, "What do you mean? If not death, then what?" 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Vetaal replied in a steady tone, "She is the Goddess of Chaos and Destruction, not the Goddess of Death. She have no connection to death. Also, during my time, demons did exist. But they were not created by the Abyss Goddess. She never created any race. In the first place, she had no animosity toward the Light Goddess."
Amon almost stumbled as he walked and exclaimed in shock, "Wait!? If not her... then who? Don’t tell me it’s the Light Goddess who is also the creator of demons."
Vetaal laughed loudly. "HAHA! No, she is not. It was someone else who gave birth to the demon race."
Amon’s curiosity burned even stronger as he demanded, "Who’s that? Tell me their name."
Vetaal’s tone became serious. "Sorry, Amon. But I cannot tell you their name. You are... you are not strong enough to hear their name. Why do you think you don’t know your Light Goddess’s true name? She might have many alternative names, but her true name... no mortal knows."
Amon nodded slowly. He wanted to ask more, but an unexplained fear rose inside him.
Vetaal then added calmly, "Such as Aureliath... a name you people use for the Goddess of Light."
Amon processed everything before speaking again, "Okay... so we hated and considered her our enemy for no reason? I mean, the Abyssal Goddess?"
Vetaal replied thoughtfully, "Yeah. As much as I know... despite being the Goddess of Destruction, she always stood for humans and other races like elves and beastmen. Now I am wondering who might have changed the history... and also who might be the progenitor of vampires and werewolves."
