The Slender Waist-Chapter 770 - 549: Worth Congratulating_2
Pei Jue responded, "Hmm."
Feng Yun said: "I didn’t agree. It was their own assumption."
She glanced at him again, gently smoothing her sleeve, her demeanor languid, full of drowsiness.
"However, the words said before still stand, I won’t bind the king. If you want, I will step aside."
"Truly generous."
Pei Jue twirled a strand of her hair, his warm palm brushed against her cheek, and suddenly he grabbed her and pulled hard.
Feng Yun crashed heavily into his arms like that.
Against his firm body, she felt a bit dizzy.
Pei Jue forced her to look up and meet his gaze.
"Do you really think so?"
The smile on Feng Yun’s face spread lazily across her lips.
"Does what I think really matter?"
"Feng Yun." Pei Jue stared into her eyes, rarely using her full name, "I’ll say it once more, remember this..."
Feng Yun’s eyes widened, all ears.
But then she heard him say: "Forgive my inappropriate words, my lady."
Feng Yun: "...What?"
Pei Jue held her lower back and gently embraced her, "Give me some more time."
Without saying it, this was about the matter of Li Sangruo.
With Tang Shaogong’s words still ringing in his ears, he couldn’t help but consider the possibility that Li Sangruo was his full-blooded younger sister...
Unless there was absolute proof that Li Sangruo wasn’t, Pei Jue would find it difficult to lay a hand on her.
Feng Yun listened to the heartbeat in his chest, her lips curving into a slight smile.
In fact, she wasn’t in a hurry.
She understood his thoughts as well.
They merely had different stances.
Seizing the opportunity, Feng Yun made a request, "Since the king has apologized, naturally I have to forgive you. But... the king must do me a little favor."
Pei Jue breathed a sigh of relief, "Tell me."
Feng Yun blinked, "Whatever I do next, don’t intervene, even if you dislike it, please remain silent."
Pei Jue hesitated slightly.
Yet on Feng Yun’s face, there was then a touch of strange tenderness, her black eyes gleaming with expectation, as if a single "no" would take the smile off her face with disappointment... 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Pei Jue slightly frowned.
He felt the helplessness of being trapped on a thief’s ship.
"As you wish."
-
Members of the Feng Family really didn’t give up.
Having been snubbed by Pei Jue, they actually brought Feng Shi Wu Niang to the Pei Residence, ostensibly to visit her older sister, but in reality, they wanted to push the tender and young lady into Pei Jue’s chamber.
On a rare day of rest for Pei Jue, Lady Tao brought her daughter to visit.
One must admit, they exerted much effort and thought.
"Ah Ya, quickly pay your respects to your sister, and brother-in-law."
Lady Tao, like a brothel madam pushing her girls, supported Feng Ya as they approached Pei Jue to greet them.
Pei Jue remained silent.
However, Feng Yun was nonchalant, with a half-smile on her face.
"Fifteenth Miss has grown up so much. Look at her, as beautiful as a celestial being."
Feng Ya, dressed in a bright, wide-sleeved robe, was sixteen, the age of blooming youth, with an attractive and outstanding appearance. She gracefully stepped forward with an elegant demeanor; it could be said that most men would find it hard to resist...
"Sister Shi’er Niang."
She slightly lifted her chin, bowing in greeting.
"Brother-in-law."
Pei Jue frowned, looking at Feng Yun.
Before Feng Yun could speak, Lady Tao hurriedly cut in.
"Fifteenth Miss always liked to run to Shi’er Niang’s room. Everyone in the family says, she, ah, resembles Shi’er Niang the most. On comparison, isn’t it... she really is the spitting image of her sister."
Feng Yun broke into a smile.
"Exactly, with only a father and mother between us, how could stepsisters not resemble each other?"
Pei Jue’s lips curved slightly as he lowered his head to sip his tea, suppressing a hint of amusement.
Lady Tao’s expression turned awkward for a moment.
"Our Shi’er Niang does like to joke..."
She sighed suddenly as she spoke.
"Not to hide anything from you, I wouldn’t come without a real cause. Today, I am here for help."
Feng Yun glanced at her, smiling as she picked up the teacup and sipped slowly.
Lady Tao said, "Fifteenth Miss has arrived in Xijing, perhaps not acclimated to the climate, her health has been poor, and she’s been ill for two days now, just look at how pale her face is..."
No one paid attention to her.
Feng Ya hung her head, a picture of embarrassment.
Lady Tao came with the intent of imposing, and continued with a thick skin, "The inn is no place for recuperation, with people coming and going. Shi’er Niang, may I ask if you could let your fifteenth sister stay at your residence for a few days to recover?"
Family would not turn away such a request under normal circumstances.
Feng Yun was no exception.
She glanced at Feng Ya, her tone casual.
"What’s bad about that? As long as Fifteenth Miss is comfortable, even if she stays for a lifetime, what difficulty would there be?"
A lifetime...
Feng Ya’s head drooped lower, her ears turning a shade of red from shyness.
Lady Tao was overjoyed, tugging at her.
"Silly girl, such good fortune has come your way. Hurry and thank your sister and brother-in-law."
Feng Ya certainly understood the implication, her cheeks flushing with shy gratitude, she thanked them in a whisper without even daring to raise her head to look at Pei Jue.
Lady Tao did not linger long. After dropping some insinuating remarks, she left with her attendants, thoroughly satisfied.
As long as Fifteenth Miss could stay, that would suffice.
It’s not that Feng Ya’s beauty could outshine Feng Yun...
But Lady Tao was aware of men’s nature.
No matter how beautiful and stunning Shi’er Niang was, she was seven years older than Fifteenth Miss and they had been married for many years. Even the prettiest face becomes tiresome in time.
Which man doesn’t crave something fresh?
A juicy young aunt like this, delivered on a platter, she doubted Pei Jue had the restraint to resist if seduced.
Once Pei Jue had a taste of Fifteenth Miss, what could Feng Yun do about it if she didn’t want to accept her into the family?
Hmph! As if she could stop this!
Unaware of the numerous fantasies blooming in Lady Tao’s mind, Feng Yun seemed completely off guard, amiably inquiring about Feng Ya’s living habits before having Xiaoman take her to settle in and call for a doctor to see her.
Pei Jue watched her handle these affairs without saying a word.
Only when the parlor was free of others did Feng Yun turn with a smile and curtsey to him.
"Congratulations, my lord."
Pei Jue’s stern visage grew intense, like the sky before a storm, dark clouds amassing.
"Lady Yun, I want an explanation."
Feng Yun reined in the smile on her face, stood up, and approached to take his hand.
Pei Jue moved away with firm slowness.
His dark pupils were cold and sharp as they fixed on her.
Feng Yun pursed her lips smilingly, her eyes curving like crescent moons.
"Not even willing to hold hands?"
She reached for Pei Jue’s hand again.
Pei Jue avoided her again, with a cold expression, "Explain."
Feng Yun laughed softly and, out of the blue, she wrapped her arms tightly around his neck and placed a quick kiss on his forehead.
"Don’t you want to find out how General Xie Xian was trapped by the Feng Family back then? My lord, our opportunity has arrived; is it not worth the celebration?"
Pei Jue narrowed his eyes, examining her tender features intently.
Feng Yun held his neck closely, letting out a gentle laugh, her breath fragrant as an orchid.
"My favorite thing is to feed their ambition and then personally shred it to pieces."
