Chapter 1067: Ling Xiao

A young handsome man with long black hair tied in a ponytail was frozen inside the crystal. He wore a white robe in the same style as Jian Yu. Beside him was a sword which Aldrian thought belonged to him.

The sword was a peak Divine Grade artifact.

Aldrian checked the young man using his system, and just as Jian Yu had said, his name was Ling Xiao and he had Early Transcendence Stage cultivation.

That meant he was a cultivator who had already reached beyond the Second Heaven, as the Early Transcendence Realm was much stronger than the Immortal Realm.

Ling Xiao was still only fifty thousand years old, which astonished him. For Ling Xiao to reach Early Transcendence at that age, he must be a genius with extraordinary talent.

For someone in the Transcendence Realm, that age was still young, too young even.

Aldrian nodded in amazement. It looked like Jian Yu had found himself a truly genius disciple.

He decided not to wait any longer and released Ling Xiao.

The crystal was protected by a time-stopping formation, just like Ao Tianhai when he had still been frozen inside the crystal. The first thing he did was shatter the formation.

Just like with Ao Tianhai, Aldrian used his golden energy on his palm and shattered the formation before touching the crystal. He injected his energy into the crystal, and a few seconds later—

Crack! Crink! Crank!

The crystal cracked, and finally it shattered. Ling Xiao fell from his position, but Aldrian caught him and his sword using his energy.

He put him down slowly on the floor and injected Ling Xiao with his energy. A few seconds later, he finally saw a reaction from Ling Xiao’s fingers, before—

Gasp!

Ling Xiao suddenly opened his eyes and gasped. His breath quickened, and he turned his head to the side quickly before looking at Aldrian with a gaze that still looked confused and disoriented.

He narrowed his eyes as if he felt a headache, and after a few seconds of silence, he finally opened his lips.

"You...?"

Aldrian smiled. "I’m the one your master mentioned. Your master entrusted you to me."

Hearing that, Ling Xiao widened his eyes and tried to sit up quickly.

"Easy, easy. You just woke up after a long time inside the time-stopping formation," Aldrian said, but Ling Xiao still sat up and looked at Aldrian.

His gaze suddenly turned nervous, and he instantly kowtowed.

"The disciple of the Eastern Heaven Divine Swordsman, Ling Xiao, greets the Great Emperor of All Heavens," he said in reverence.

Aldrian smiled at him. "At ease. You don’t have to greet me like that again. I’m not the Great Emperor of All Heavens anymore. You must already know that I entered the reincarnation cycle."

"No!" Ling Xiao raised his head and looked at Aldrian seriously, which made Aldrian stunned.

"Your Majesty will return to that position again. It is only a matter of time, and I believe it," Ling Xiao said, which made Aldrian raise his eyebrows and smile.

"Why do you think so? I don’t think you have ever met me at all, so why do you believe I could become like I used to be?"

"I believe in you first because my master believed in you. Master sometimes talked about you, and he always said that meeting you was the turning point of his life, which allowed him to become who he was," Ling Xiao replied.

"Secondly, Your Majesty’s legend is already known across the heavens. You are a god figure to all beings. No one, not even the gods, dares to disrespect you even behind your back. All of them worship you. From how countless beings described Your Majesty, I truly admire and am amazed by you. I believe that Your Majesty can return to how you used to be."

"Although, I am just like countless others, including my master, who did not know Your Majesty’s reason for choosing to enter the reincarnation cycle. But we believe that Your Majesty is still Your Majesty, the legendary figure said to have ruled the entire universe and beyond."

Seeing the expression full of conviction, Aldrian nodded with a smile. If that was what he believed, then so be it.

"I see. But for now, seriously, do not always greet me like that. In this life, I am not that glorious yet. I am still a mortal in the First Heaven..." He then explained to Ling Xiao his status in this life and the kind of life he had lived.

He also explained how Ling Xiao should act toward him from now on, as he was no longer the Great Emperor. Aldrian did not forget to tell him about his current circumstances in this world and how he had arrived here. He had already decided what Ling Xiao needed to do afterward.

After hearing all of Aldrian’s explanations, Ling Xiao understood what he needed to do.

"I will follow Your Majesty’s instructions and orders. Please use me as you see fit," he said solemnly.

Aldrian nodded with a smile. "Alright. For now, let’s leave this place. There is still something that I need to do."

Aldrian stood up, but Ling Xiao hurriedly spoke.

"Your Majesty, I know that you have already met Master’s will. Do you know how my master is?" His eyes looked hopeful.

Aldrian was stunned. His heart suddenly felt heavy as he had to deliver the bad news. He sighed, and his expression turned sad.

Still, he had to tell the truth, as this was something Jian Yu’s disciple deserved to know.

"Your master... your master is no more," he said, which made Ling Xiao’s body tremble.

The hopeful expression on his face changed as his hope shattered into pieces. His eyes dimmed, and sadness instantly engulfed him.

He had already prepared for the worst, but his fear had come true. He still remembered the last time he met his master before he was frozen inside the crystal.

Because time had stopped for him, it included his mind and memories as well. To him, it felt as though he had met his master only a few minutes ago.

His master had given him a message to always follow the Great Emperor, to accompany him on his journey to the place where he belonged. That was the only way for them to turn the situation of the universe around, the only way to free their universe from those invaders.

Although he was reluctant to leave his master, his master had been adamant about making him stay here, waiting until the Great Emperor returned.

Everything followed the plan of the Heavenly Demon and Tianlian Buddha. Many cultivators from the higher heavens were left in the First Heaven to wait for the Great Emperor’s return and launch the counterattack.

His master chose him to be the one who stayed here. He wanted him to live longer than himself and gave him the honor of assisting the Great Emperor in the future.

He could still remember how his master looked at him one last time and said that he was proud to have him as his disciple, his warm expression like that of a father looking at his child.

His eyes watered as tears finally fell, which he quickly wiped away with his sleeve.

"I will not let your master’s sacrifice be in vain. I will not disappoint the hope that your master placed in me. This is my oath to you as his disciple. I will make sure that this universe is liberated from those invaders. Those invaders will pay dearly for invading this universe and taking many of our loved ones," Aldrian said solemnly.

Ling Xiao was stunned, and his body trembled. He held back his tears and wiped his eyes again before kowtowing.

"Thank you, Your Majesty! I am truly grateful. I am truly grateful," he said as his body trembled again. Tears fell from his eyes once more.

Aldrian sighed. Losing loved ones was never easy. Only time could heal the sadness in their hearts.

Even at this moment, he could still remember how Feng Xuanyan and Long Shentian’s wills disappeared right before his eyes. He had cried, and one of the things that eased his sadness was the hope they had placed upon his shoulders.

He could not drown in sorrow forever. He had things to do to ensure their sacrifices were not in vain.

"Get up. Let’s leave this place. After this, I will give you a task, and it has something to do with the followers of those invaders. I know you have been waiting for the moment when you can face those invaders again," Aldrian said.

Ling Xiao instantly stood up and wiped his tears one last time. He then picked up his sword, his expression filled with determination. His eyes even showed hatred as they gleamed dangerously.

"Please give the command, and I will give those invaders hell."

Aldrian smiled and nodded. "Good."

They then left the underground hall. Aldrian decided to let the swords here remain stored for now.

After they finally reached the surface, Ling Xiao looked at his surroundings. He instantly recognized his master’s sword will, which made his heart feel heavy with sadness again.

However, he held it in and did not show it on his expression.

He had to stay strong. Even if his master was no more, he still had a life that needed to be lived, the chance given by his master. There was also still a mission to help the Great Emperor return to his rightful place.

To regain his glory.

"Before we leave this island, I have to do something first," Aldrian said as he floated into the sky.
