The Sexiest Succubus Accidentally Went Crazy for a Cucked Guy-Chapter 62: A night that never stops surprising
«R-Return to Elyndra? A-Are you serious...?» Eliss stammers, incredulous. «I-I should be happy... I guess...»
Yet her melancholic tone and distressed expression show anything but happiness. Her whole body goes stiff — her handbag slips out of her hand and her wide-open eyes stare straight ahead, frozen.
«A-Aoshi... he knew — he knew that tonight you would come to take me back home, didn’t he?» she asks, her voice trembling. It’s a rhetorical question, though — one she has already answered herself.
Of course... now I understand his strange attitude tonight. Now I understand why he was willing to do anything to keep me from going to work. Now everything is so clear, so obvious...
How the hell did I not figure it out by myself?
T-That idiot... I was so angry with him, thinking he was just making fun of my feelings, when in reality all he wanted... was to spend with me my last hours on Earth...
I... I feel so guilty about what I told him.
He didn’t deserve it... he really didn’t deserve it...
I-If he did all that... then for him I... I wasn’t just an unexpected roommate he couldn’t wait to send back where she came from...
For him I was... I was special. Then why did he never open up to me? Why did he never confess what he really felt for me?
Eliss’s eyes grow swollen and glossy, until they give in to a silent cry — thin streams of tears running down her flushed cheeks.
Raelor, impassive in the face of her pain and suffering, simply nods without adding a word.
«W-Why...? Why didn’t that idiot tell me?!» sobs Eliss, collapsing to her knees at Raelor’s feet. «I-If he had told me, I would’ve never gone to work and we would have spent this last evening together, just as he had planned. We would’ve taken that romantic walk, that candlelit dinner, and then... and then...»
Her voice cracks — she bends forward, bracing herself on her arms as heavy tears hit the asphalt. «...i-if I had known that kiss would be the last one, I would’ve never pulled away from him... W-Why didn’t he tell me? Why?! IT’S NOT FAIR!!!»
«He didn’t tell you simply because I ordered him not to reveal anything to you under any circumstances. And, as promised, he proved to be a man of his word — which does him great honor,» Raelor says calmly — a faint, satisfied smile forming on his lips.
«In fact, he’s known for three months. I told him that night when you were attacked by those five thugs on the riverbank. And yet, he managed to keep this secret to himself all this time. Truly admirable on his part — no doubt about it. Test passed with flying colors. I will certainly put in a good word with your father, so he approves the gift you planned to give Aoshi once you return to Elyndra — those gold bars you mentioned some time ago, which here on Earth seem to be worth a fortune. He earned every single one of them.»
«I-I understand...» Eliss whispers in a faint voice. «S-So... then we must go to him right now — immediately! I-I have to apologize for getting angry with him like that. I’m sure he feels just as sorry as I do that the last words I said to him were words fueled by anger...»
«I’m sorry, but that’s not possible,» Raelor murmurs, unmoving as he shakes his head firmly.
«W-Why?! Why can’t I see him one last time?! Tell me why, Raelor!» she bursts out, furious.
«Simply because even this sudden goodbye, without a final moment together, is part of the punishment King Azhelar decreed for you — for crossing the portal to Earth without permission, just to satisfy what he sees as the whims of a spoiled child. And to be precise, I believe he’s already waiting for us right now — and you know well your father does not tolerate delays,» Raelor states, a hint of severity sharpening his tone.
«Y-You two... you two decided to keep me in the dark about the duration of my own punishment, and fine, I can understand that — that’s exactly the kind of jerk my father is. But even so, you can’t expect Aoshi to just vanish from my life without me even being allowed to say goodbye! No — I refuse to accept that!» she retorts, struggling to stand up as her trembling legs barely support her. She stares at Raelor with eyes full of despair — the gaze of a woman shattered inside, yet burning with fury.
«I just told you, Princess Eliss — that’s not something that depends on me,» Raelor replies coldly.
«T-Then... then remove this stupid bewitching spell from me right now! If you have to — you promised me!» she exclaims. «I-I know that breaking the bond that ties me to him won’t erase the guilt of treating him that way... or the pain of leaving his life without even one last goodbye... but at least it would make everything a little less unbearable!»
But once again, Raelor shakes his head.
«I won’t do it.»
«W-What do you mean you won’t do it?!» she screams, on the verge of losing control — she stomps the asphalt so violently that it cracks under her foot. «D-Don’t tell me that bastard father of mine ordered you not to break the charm spell just to make this punishment even more unbearable than it already is?! I-If that’s the case, I swear... I swear I’ll never set foot in Elyndra again! Break the spell and I’ll follow you without a single objection — otherwise I’ll stay here! I swear it on my life, Raelor!»
«No, your father has nothing to do with it,» Raelor replies coldly with a slight shrug.
«So... so this cruelty is all your idea?!» Eliss asks, shocked. Then a nervous, almost desperate smile twists her lips. «O-Of course... the truth is that even you can’t undo it, right? E-Everyone says you’re the most powerful incubus in the whole Kingdom of Ravessia — but apparently you’re all bark and no bite, since you can’t even break such a basic spell! Some bodyguard you are — I’m probably the one who should be protecting you!» she taunts him, hoping to spark a reaction like: "Oh really? Watch me undo that spell in an instant!" But Raelor doesn’t even blink at her provocations.
Instead, he lets out a quiet laugh — which only fuels her anger. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
«W-What the hell do you find so funny now?!» she shouts.
«Oh, Princess Eliss... you really haven’t figured it out yet?» Raelor smirks.
«F-Figured what out?! Stop being cryptic and speak clearly!» she presses him.
«Back to that night by the river — when you were about to kill those men and Aoshi hugged you... do you remember what happened?»
«O-Of course... we almost died — kind of hard to forget! My magic shut down for a moment. S-So what? Stop beating around the bush!»
«Yeah, exactly — your magic was completely shut down from his touch,» he confirms. «And tell me, my dear, unperceptive princess... has it truly never crossed your mind that the very same thing must have happened the first night you two met? You told me you accidentally bumped into each other.»
«W-Wait... don’t tell me that...?» Eliss stammers — more shocked than she has ever been in her life.
«Yes,» he says, meeting her gaze without blinking. «When that night you tried to use charm magic on him, your powers were already shut down. There was nothing to take effect. Princess Eliss... I can’t break the spell that binds you to him, because there is no spell to break in the first place.»
