The Seven Sisters and Their Hidden King-Chapter 217: Capture the Mutated Man
Chapter 217 - 217: Capture the Mutated Man
The chaos stirred by the competition between Chicago's two noble families had finally come to an end.
No one knew exactly what the bold young man, who dared to meet the leader of the Eastern Martial Arts League, had done during his visit—but whatever it was, it had triggered a massive shift in the League's stance.
All anyone knew was that the Kelvin family had come out on top.
Soon, news about Howard's fate spread.
Just like John had previously declared, Howard had charged into the Eastern Martial Arts League demanding an explanation.
But unlike John, Howard's outcome was drastically different.
No one knew what had happened to him inside the League, but when he returned, the once-dominant patriarch looked utterly broken and terrified.
His first act was to instruct the younger members of the Welch family to immediately transfer ninety percent of their assets to the Kelvin family—and to withdraw from Chicago that very night.
As for himself, Howard returned to the Eastern Martial Arts League to accept his punishment.
In the end, the Kelvin family emerged victorious, while the Welch family fled in humiliation.
For a time, chaos swept through Chicago.
Most of the elite families had sided with the Welch family. Now, in the wake of their defeat, those same families were left embarrassed and scrambling.
Especially the Wodehouse family, who had once been jubilant—only to fall into utter disgrace.
Meanwhile, in the outskirts of Chicago...
An operation was underway.
The Martial Arts League's law enforcers had locked in on the possible hideouts of the mutated man.
After days of tracking, they finally spotted him just as he was about to strike again.
This was a joint arrest organized by two major regions of the Martial Arts League. The law enforcers formed a massive net, which quickly contracted and trapped the mutated man within a tight perimeter.
Beside a quiet lake, John bent down and picked up a stone. His movement appeared casual, but the stone was imbued with vital energy. As it struck the water, ripples spread across the lake.
Plop! Plop!
He tossed a second stone. It skipped across the surface before slicing into the water sideways. But instead of slowing down, it continued its momentum beneath the surface.
Then came the third stone...
Suddenly—
Boom!
A splash exploded skyward, shattering the lake's stillness.
From the geyser of water leapt a grotesque, black figure.
The mutated man.
It was slightly larger than an average human. Its head was twisted unnaturally, one side of its chest bulged grotesquely while the other was sunken, creating a disturbing asymmetry.
Its skin was pitch black, covered in uneven bumps and craters, resembling scales crudely stacked atop one another.
Its facial features had completely deteriorated—now just a mass of rotting flesh. Only two distinct features remained: its scarlet, bloodshot eyes and its teeth, still stained with flesh and blood.
The creature locked its eyes on John but didn't dare approach. Instead, it whirled around and fled.
Using both hands to push off the ground and its powerful legs for speed, it sprinted like a beast.
It was no longer human—just a savage creature.
John frowned. This was his first encounter with such a bizarre mutation. He couldn't begin to guess what had caused it.
The commotion alerted nearby law enforcers, who immediately converged and launched an assault on the creature.
Although the mutant wasn't a martial artist and couldn't wield internal energy, its brute strength made it a formidable foe. It barreled through the law enforcers like a wild animal.
But a beast was still no match for trained warriors armed with weapons.
After a ferocious battle, the law enforcers managed to subdue and capture it.
Bertha exhaled in relief.
"We finally got it. Who would've thought it was hiding in the lake all this time? That's probably how it kept slipping past us."
She glanced gratefully at John.
If it weren't for his insight, they never would've thought to search beneath the lake's surface. Everything about the mutant pointed to a land-dwelling creature—not something capable of staying underwater for over thirty minutes.
John replied, "What I'm more curious about is how it ended up like this in the first place."
It was clear to him this wasn't some naturally occurring monster—it was a human who had mutated.
Something had transformed it.
"I agree," Bertha said, nodding. "But it's a big problem. This thing's completely lost its mind. I doubt we'll get any answers from it."
She sighed, glancing at the subdued creature.
"All we can do now is take it back to the Martial Arts League. The biologists at the research institute will have to dissect it and see what they can find."
John nodded. "As long as it's not out there hurting people anymore, that's enough for now, Seventh Sister—"
But before he could finish, he suddenly sensed a chill behind him.

Turning around, he saw Bertha eyeing him with a devilish grin.
Then she shouted, "Hmph! Little bastard—get down!"
The Seventh Sister hadn't forgotten that time John had tossed her into the Hudson River. Now, she had her chance for revenge.
Naughty.
John reacted quickly.
He spun around and grabbed her by the collar before she could make her move.
As he pulled, her shirt opened slightly—revealing something white.
"Whoa!"
Thanks to years of martial arts training, Seventh Sister's body was toned and balanced—neither too much nor too little. Just the right proportions for both combat and... certain handholds.
Most importantly... they were upright.
