The Seductive Pretty Boy of the Matriarchal World-Chapter 67: The Promise
Chapter 67: The Promise
The scandal from yesterday had blown up far beyond campus walls. It spread like wildfire through the city’s elite circles, and there was no way Serena Blackwood hadn’t heard every delicious detail. Nine times out of ten, Liora Voss had been the one to feed it to her.
Was this a summons to answer for his sins?
Elias Kane let the phone ring for a long, deliberate stretch, waiting until the very last second before the call would roll to voicemail before he finally answered.
Under normal circumstances, a delay like that would have earned him an immediate "Don’t push your luck, boy" from Serena. Instead her voice poured through the speaker like warm honey. "What are you doing?"
Right back to the gentle, doting act.
Elias twisted a lock of golden hair around his fingertip, playing with it absently. "Just finished class."
"Do you have time? I..."
He hung up before she could finish the sentence.
[System Theta: Huh?]
The system was lost again.
Elias kept walking, voice light inside his head. "Just a little push. Testing how far I can go before she snaps."
Serena had only just pulled out the sincere-girlfriend routine. There was no way she was ready to drop the mask yet.
If he wasn’t going to act spoiled now, when would he?
Sure enough, she called back almost immediately. This time Elias answered on the first ring. Serena’s once-smooth tone carried the faintest edge of anger. "Why did you hang up on me?"
Already cracking?
Heh. Women.
Elias started walking again, steps unhurried. "Must have hit the button by accident."
Serena wasn’t stupid. She could hear the subtle thread of defiance beneath his innocent words.
He knew he’d messed up and was afraid to face her.
Serena gave a soft, controlled laugh inside her own mind before answering in that velvet tone again. "I wanted to take you to dinner, so I was asking if you had time."
Elias nearly laughed out loud. Dinner first, then straight to bed, right?
Serena’s voice softened further. "I miss you."
Elias counted silently in his head. Ten... nine... eight...
[System Theta: ?]
When the countdown hit zero he answered in a reluctant murmur, "Fine..."
As if he had weighed the decision carefully.
On the other end of the line, Serena’s relieved exhale was audible. A note of genuine delight slipped into her voice. "Good. School’s back gate. Now."
Elias ended the call and finally let the grin break across his face. "Does our dear CEO have any idea how obvious her little performance is?"
Whatever. She was buying him two meals.
He changed direction, heading cheerfully toward the rear gate where the familiar luxury car was already waiting.
Unfortunately, the driver behind the wheel was the same plain-looking woman from last time.
Elias lifted his gaze. Still too afraid to face him herself?
He ignored the front passenger seat and slid into the back, leaning comfortably against the leather. "Let’s go."
The woman started the car without a word. Elias pulled out his phone and fired off a message to Liora Voss.
Elias Kane: Still busy?
The subtext was clear: why wasn’t she the one picking him up?
Liora Voss replied almost instantly with a single crisp word.
Liora Voss: Yeah.
Elias’s lips curved. Fast reply, but deliberately restrained.
He knew his status as Serena’s lover was tying Liora’s hands. Maybe gender played a part too. Otherwise, with all her experience juggling women, she would have at least answered something like, "Why? Missing me already?"
Elias typed again.
Elias Kane: When will you be free to come pick me up next time?
No reply.
He didn’t mind. He kept going.
Elias Kane: Did you forget the promise you made me?
Liora Voss: Not sure.
Liora Voss: What promise?
Two separate messages. She was clearly trying to create the illusion that she had just stepped away from her phone, but ten seconds wasn’t enough time to do anything meaningful. Overkill.
Elias smiled. Playing with fire but afraid of getting burned. The world didn’t work that way.
He sent another reminder.
Elias Kane: Before Serena comes looking for me, remember to call me first. Forgot already?
Of course Liora hadn’t forgotten. The moment he mentioned it, Elias’s earlier shameless words about "getting ready" flooded back into her mind. Her lips parted in a quiet laugh as she typed three characters.
Liora Voss: Little devil.
The driver kept her eyes glued to the road, but she heard rustling from the back seat. She started to turn her head when a low, teasing voice drifted forward.
"I’d advise against looking back... unless you want to lose your eyes."
The woman froze instantly, terrified of whatever compromising scene might greet her.
Elias didn’t care what she imagined. He angled his phone, snapped a perfectly framed photo, and sent it to Liora.
Liora’s smile hadn’t even faded when the new image appeared—pale, flawless thighs, pants pulled down and bunched loosely around the ankles. The shot stopped just high enough to leave the rest to the imagination, but anyone seeing it would know exactly what lay above.
More damningly, the photo was clearly taken in the back of a moving car. In the upper left corner, the driver’s head was caught mid-turn, as if she might glimpse the boy’s shameless behavior at any second.
Before Liora could fully process it, her phone began vibrating in rapid succession. Elias sent each character as its own message.
"Look"
"At"
"Me"
"After"
"My"
"Shower"
"Am"
"I"
"Clean"
"?"
Finished, Elias tucked the phone away without waiting for a reply and began pulling his pants back up with lazy movements.
A short while later:
[Liora Voss favorability has increased. Current: 32%.]
Elias muttered under his breath, "Seriously? I dropped my pants for her and she’s still this stingy? Do I have to do a full striptease before she’s satisfied?"
The driver heard every word. Her breath hitched; she suddenly wished she had been born without ears.
Thankfully the destination appeared soon. The moment Elias stepped out and found his footing, the woman floored the accelerator and sped off like she was fleeing for her life.
Elias stared at the disappearing taillights, then let out a soft, delighted laugh. "Well... that was kind of fun."
[System Theta: ...]
The system was seriously starting to wonder just how much more demonic its host was becoming. Was it even allowed to think that?
