The Secret Obsession of the CEO-Chapter 243: The Bold Request
Rory called Mrs. Delport to check on her grandmother. Her grandmother’s health was slowly deteriorating. There was nothing anyone could do.
Rory asked Mrs. Delport why nothing is done about the recent mishaps in the trial. She tried to call Gordon Faraday, but he didn’t answer. She didn’t want to call him again.
Mrs. Delport sighed. She then told her that it is to be expected in a trial that it might go either way. The law has to do what it has to do and each and everyone involved must be careful not to cause any distress to the system.
It was weird because Rory didn’t expect some diplomatic mumble from Mrs. Delport. And it made her doubt whether her calls are getting tapped.
That won’t be good.
She told Liam about it, and Liam had people sweep the house and phones for bugs. But they didn’t find anything, thankfully. That made her wonder if her grandmother is the one getting watched.
Rory talked to Mrs. Delport again. She didn’t talk about the possible spying. She knew that if there was spying, Mrs. Delport would know about it already and if she was keeping quiet there must be a reason for that.
Or, she might be entirely wrong and there was no spying.
Either way, she didn’t think that worrying about it would solve anything. She asked Mrs. Delport if she should visit there to check on her reaction. Mrs. Delport was usual when she refused her visit.
So, Rory decided not to stress about it. If Mrs. Delport is calm and collected, then she must have the situation under control.
As the trial date neared, the prosecution received news that Lennon is in contact with the investigators of his homeland and that he wanted to confess to assisting James Hall in the murder of women. He promised to reveal where the bodies were buried.
Lennon would have been eleven or twelve when that happened, and no one was sure that he was telling the truth.
Although, if true, it would give closure to the families of the families of those women. And so, the law enforcement officers in both countries were in a dilemma.
Still, there was a consensus between both sides that Lennon might want to go to his homeland because there was no death penalty in his country as it was abolished. He might want to avoid the death penalty in this country and is willing to shift his trial to his homeland.
Plus, he was a juvenile when he committed those crimes. And he confessed to assisting and not killing. So, his punishment won’t be that severe. Plus, that country’s parole laws were very lenient.
No wonder Lennon wanted to have his trial there.
But he in his current name has no citizenship to his homeland. It was interesting to learn that Andrew Roberts decided to cancel his citizenship in his homeland to get citizenship in this country. Why? No one knew. But he did what he did. Lennon agreed too, as per the recorded documents. Perhaps, it was Lennon’s idea back then to think that he won’t have to return to that country. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Too bad he forgot about that.
So as a citizen of this country, Lennon will have to face trial in his homeland. Lennon was not happy to hear that.
Talks were still going on between the investigators of Lennon’s homeland and Lennon to get him to confess to the crimes while simultaneously the prosecutors were trying to combine the cases from both countries to this side.
The higher officials in the government had to be involved in this and so the trial date was on the verge of being postponed.
Rory was stressed a lot, but she knew that trials do take a lot of time to be finished. Just because this is a high-profile case, they cannot hurry.
Haste makes waste!
As everything piled up, Lennon said that he was depressed, and he even tried to off himself.
Yeah, no one fell for that.
But the law mandated care for scums like him too. He was already in solitary confinement with his personal therapist. But he got arranged for a senior therapist for him having put on suicide watch.
The prosecutors hoped that Lennon would confess to the therapist, but after just a couple of hours of talking to Lennon, it was the therapist who needed therapy.
He’s evil! Said the therapist. He should be dealt with carefully.
The jailors would only sigh seeing the back of that senior therapist they relied on. Lennon is dangerous, they knew. He tends to bring out the worst side of anyone just by observing them and talking to them.
He shared a cell with one of the mass murderers who refused to share anything with anyone. Lennon was with him for just two days and that guy was crying for his mother and tried to kill himself with the sheets.
It happened with a couple of others too. Lennon did get along with one guy who was a serial r@pist/murderer who was on trial too. That guy who was able to control himself till then tried to kill one of the female jailors by biting off her face.
Psychopath, he definitely is.
The prosecutors were hoping that Lennon might confess to any of his cellmates. And after such incidents happened repeatedly, they had to shift Lennon to solitary confinement even though they knew Lennon wanted to be alone.
And now Lennon wanted to be with people because he was "depressed".
None of those who were in charge of this case were of average intelligence. They were geniuses and borderline geniuses. But even they struggled to handle him.
That day prosecutor Matt came to their house. Rory was not big on welcoming the prosecutors to her home, but she had to be polite even though this time, Rory knew that he wanted to ask her something big and that’s why he was here when Liam was not home.
After taking a sip of the hot black coffee, Matt looked at her.
"Mrs. Roberts, we want you to talk to Lennon Roberts. We think you are the only one who can break him," he came to the point straight.
