The Secret Obsession of the CEO-Chapter 218: The Proposal
The taxi stopped and Rory looked out. It was dark and there was nothing she could see until her eyes reached. The headlights of the taxi revealed a mushy dirt road ahead.
"The taxi can’t go any further," Liam said.
"Okay then," Rory tried to get down. But Liam stopped her.
Oh! Is he going to open the door for me? How romantic!
She giggled in her heart.
But when the love of her life offered her a blindfold, she rolled her eyes. "Seriously? Is this necessary?" she asked.
Liam nodded. "Trust me, Cherry..." he held her hand.
He knew how hard it is going to be for her. She always hated the dark and he is asking her to be in the dark while navigating into an unknown place. And that was all after the trauma she went through.
But he knew one thing. If there is one person who could ask her this much, it would be him. She loves him that much. And she trusts him that much.
"Don’t you dare let go of my hand," she said gritting her teeth. She was not angry. She was scared. But she saw the expectation in his eyes. Poor guy must have planned a lot and she didn’t want to ruin his fun.
Liam nodded. Without knowing his eyes watered when she got the blindfold and tied her eyes.
"I love you, Cherry... I really really love you," he whispered in her ear.
"Okay, now open the door. I am not getting down without holding your hand," she said.
"Alright!" He said with a chuckle and got down from the taxi and opened the door for her.
"My lady," he held her hand.
"My lord," she smiled and held his hand tightly.
Liam placed his other hand around her waist and carefully led her through the muddy terrain. He brought her heels with him because he knew she wouldn’t want to step where she is headed without a proper shoe.
That fifty-meter walk felt like it took all eternity for her. "We are here, Cherry..."
"Shall I take off my blindfold then?" Rory was curious and also terrified to be in the dark.
"No..." Liam stopped her. "Wait...just... I am going to let go of your hand just for a moment, okay..." he tried to let go of her hand but she gripped his hand hard. "Cherry, one moment..."
He tried to reason. She let go of his hand but clung to his arm. Liam didn’t mind that.
*Clap* *Clap*
He clapped his hands twice. And he smiled as the lights around lit up.
"Now..." Liam got behind Rory and helped her untie the blindfold.
Rory squinted her eyes even before opening them as she could sense bright lights ahead.
Okay... where is this place...?
She slowly opened her eyes.
Disneyland?
She blinked her eyes. It can’t be. There are no Disneylands in her homeland.
Oh my God!
She covered her eyes looking at the castle in front of her that was decorated with fairy lights. There were spotlights that were focused just in front of her.
She knew this castle. This used to belong to some noble family, and she was told that they’ve gone bankrupt some years ago.
The beautiful Stirling Castle!
The original family never opened the castle for visitors. Did they change their mind? Or did someone else buy it and rent it out for proposals and movie shoots? That’s a good business plan...!
Ah! What am I thinking about now?
She slapped the back of her head. Now is not the time to think about business plans!
"I love it!" She jumped. She’s never been to this castle before in her life. This is her first visit to Stirling castle!
"I knew you’d love it! This is your first time visiting an actual castle, right?" Liam asked. His face was twinkling with a wide grin.
Rory smiled back. She grew up in a country where there are more than 300 castles and historic houses. How did he come to the conclusion that she had never been to one?
Even the Campbell mansion is a castle; albeit a small one. They just named it a mansion. She’s visited the Balmoral, even Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace with her parents.
"How did you know?" she jumped and wrapped her arms around his shoulders. She didn’t have the heart to tell him that she had visited castles before.
And out of all the castles, he did choose the one she hadn’t visited. Why should she let that affect his mood?
How lovely of him to prepare everything for me! How adorable of him to think that I have never visited castles in my life!
She kissed him. "I love you! I love you!" she kissed him again and again.
"Ah, Cherry..." Liam held her waist and pulled her down. He would let her kiss him forever. But then he would get turned on so much and they might never get to the most important part.
"Shall we?" he placed her heels on the wooden bridge that was built over the moat.
"You brought my heels!" Rory did a happy dance and changed out of the boots. "You are amazing! Why are you so perfect? Oh my God! I want to scream! You know what? I will scream!"
Rory ran ahead of him and held out her hands to the sky.
"I have the most amazing husband in the whole wide world!!!" She screamed at the top of her lungs.
She knew she probably scared some unassuming foxes and stoats, but she didn’t care. Liam couldn’t contain his grin. He knew she would be happy. But she is delighted more than his expectation.
No wonder men like to gift their women. Who wouldn’t like to see their women utterly flabbergasted and acting giddy just with some gifts?
Rory was stunned when the band of bagpipe players started playing just as she stepped into the castle gates. They played the "piper’s welcome" music.
Oh, he arranged my favorite music! Aww!
She leaned and kissed his cheek. And as they entered the big archway leading to the castle, they were welcomed by a bunch of people wearing butler and maid costumes. They were acting so perfectly that Rory doubted if they are just actors.
Don’t tell me... Are they the servants of this castle? Interesting...
"Shall we have a tour of the place, Milady?" Liam turned at her and asked.
"I’m hungry, Milord," Rory rubbed her stomach with a pout.
Won’t he propose after dinner? She wanted to get to the proposal part soon. She can visit the castle whenever she wanted to.
’Dinner it is then!" Liam smiled.
Rory hooked her arms in his and both of them were led to the dining room. She looked around the castle as she walked. It was very beautiful. They’ve kept the old architecture as it was and still added certain modern amenities to it.
They had electricity and running water as she had noticed. Guess, those are basic amenities in this day and age. But those rich lords who lived in the past wouldn’t have had those amenities.
She always would love the feeling when she walked into old houses. Oh, if the woods and walls could speak... the stories they might tell...
They had an exquisite five-course meal. Rory contacted Aunt Isabelle to check on Ellie and she told her that Ellie was eating dinner with Uncle Charles. As she was speaking, she could hear Uncle Charles’s loud chuckle that was followed by the sweet laugh of Ellie.
Uncle Charles always had a lot of fun stories to tell! Ellie is lucky to hear his stories!
"Are you satisfied? I knew you wanted to call for a long time," Liam wriggled his brows. She tried not to make a call to not being rude to him, but he didn’t mind. He’s already seen her so happy, and she has made him happier than ever before.
Rory pouted. "We cannot seem to have abandoned our child to have fun together..." she shifted all the blame.
Liam chuckled. What an amazing woman he married!
They finished dinner while chatting about mundane stuff. They even talked about the weather. They are not really a couple on first date so they didn’t have to know about each other. Oddly, Liam talking about the weather was interesting to listen to.
But Rory had a little doubt.
Rory didn’t know why there was no ring in the dessert either. There was no ring in the champagne either and she started to doubt if this was even a proposal.
Maybe I am the one who got it wrong?
She shrugged it off. In the end, she still enjoyed the dinner very much. This was the best date ever! She didn’t think Liam could top this date.
So, she decided to enjoy the rest of the date too.
"Shall we take the tour now?" Liam asked and Rory accepted.
She can take a tour. She saw a tower. She wanted to stand on the tower and look around. She loved the circular staircases that lead to the top of the tower.
They were given a completer tour of the house. Rory was stunned to see the small modern kitchen in the place where there used to be the castle pantry. This whole castle looked like it was renovated recently and was in top position.
"Should we live here?" Liam asked.
Rory raised her brows. "What?"
