The Second Son of the Marquis Wants to Laze Around-Chapter 46: Eren isn’t Angry?
Chapter 46: Eren isn’t Angry?
Going back to a few minutes ago—
Eren was lying casually on his seat inside the carriage, eyes glued to his handheld gaming console. He was completely engrossed in his gameplay, fully focused on a title called Oldest Ring, a very famous RPG game he used to play in his previous world. It was a well-known game with a dedicated fanbase, and one of his all-time favorites.
In the game, his character, known as The Exiled, was currently equipped with a long sword in one hand and a small shield in the other. He wasn’t wearing any armor or clothing—just plain white underwear.
That’s right. This was the barebones avatar Eren chose to challenge the first main boss of the game’s story.
The boss himself was a tall, gaunt, and twisted figure cloaked in tattered black robes that flowed like smoke with every step. His face was partially obscured by a crown of gnarled horns. His skin was pale, corpse-like, marred by the curse of the Omen. From his skeletal fingers, he could summon glowing spectral weapons—daggers, a curved sword, even a massive golden hammer—that shimmered briefly before vanishing into thin air. His staff, twisted and eerie, served both as a weapon and a mark of authority. Each of his movements carried a dark, threatening elegance. Though hunched, he moved with surprising speed and unrelenting fury.
This boss was known as Tigram, the Fallen Omen—an early-game enemy and the first main boss of the storyline.
Eren had already defeated him five times. Now, this was his sixth attempt.
The reason? A minor system quest given to him by Useless, as well as a personal challenge to push his skills even further and for enjoyment.

Eren had already cleared this boss five times, each with slightly different challenges. With each win, he earned System Points, and each victory became part of his daily gaming routine with Useless. Every time he encountered a challenge in any game he playes, the system would generated a quest to push the limits even further—allowing him not only to enjoy the game as a hardcore player but also to efficiently farm system points.
This arrangement very worked well. Both he and Useless benefited from it without any problems.
Earlier, he managed to beat Tigram within one minute, then shaved the time further to under 50 seconds. Now, he was aiming to clear it in less than 40—a feat that was technically possible, based on his calculations.
All it would take was high critical damage, no wasted movements, perfect timing, and denying the boss any chance to counterattack. Eren was close—very close—to success.
And while he was locked into the intense battle, completely focused on the screen in front of him, he paid no attention to the chaos unfolding outside the carriage.
"Y-Young Master?"
What annoyed him the most, however, was being constantly interrupted by his maid, Marie, who kept panicking about the monsters outside.
"What?" he snapped coldly, not bothering to look up from his console as he prepped for the boss fight.
"There are many monsters outside... W-What should we do?"
Her frightened tone only irritated him more.
"What do you mean, ’what should we do’? Obviously, sit down and be quiet. The knights are here to protect us," he said bluntly.
"B-But I feel like something bad is—"
"Stop jinxing it!" Eren yelled, his voice rising in frustration just as the boss music began. "The carriage is protected by spells! Stop worrying so much—or I’ll kick you out!"
After that threat, Marie went silent, and finally, Eren could concentrate on his game without further disturbance.
He was just about to land the final blow—his timing perfect, movement flawless—when—
–BANG!
Something struck the carriage with violent force.
The impact shook everything, and Eren was thrown off his seat onto the carpeted floor.
His eyes widened in surprise, blinking in confusion at what just happened. Before he could fully process the situation, a glowing green system panel popped up right in front of his face.
[You Have Taken Damage!]
[Quest Failed!]
Blinking again, trying to make sense of what he was seeing, he looked down at the console in his hand. The screen showed his avatar being stabbed by the boss, who then pushed him off a cliff.
Then, in big red letters:
[YOU DIED]
"..."
Eren’s expression turned completely dark as he stared blankly at the screen, then at the floating green panel showing his failure.
[You Failed to Defeat the Fallen Omen]
[You Won’t Receive Any Rewards]
It wasn’t the lack of rewards that bothered him. Nor was it the failed challenge.
What truly pissed him off...
Was that his peaceful gaming session—his moment of relaxation—had been ruined.
And even worse, the quest to fight Tigram again was now over.
The system wouldn’t allow him to retry the exact same quest unless he raised the difficulty further—meaning Useless would need to drop the time limit below 40 seconds. And Eren knew the current game mechanics wouldn’t allow him to beat Tigram any faster unless he used buffs or obtained a stronger weapon.
[...Master?]
Useless’s low, almost whispering voice echoed in his head, sensing the frustration boiling within its master.
Eren gripped the edge of the seat with one hand and pulled himself up with a slow, deliberate motion, steadying his breath.
He ignored his maid, who sat frozen beside him, her face pale with fear.
’What was the cause of the shaking?’ Eren asked mentally, his tone calm but sharp.
Seeing it’s Master’s dark expression, Useless responded quickly in a single, frantic breath.
[YES! It was caused by the impact from one of the knights! He was hit by a Troll and sent flying—he crashed into the side of the carriage!]
’I see.’
Without hesitation, Eren turned toward the carriage door, reached for the handle, and yanked it open in a single sharp motion.
–Click!
The door swung wide, revealing the chaos outside. Screams, clashes of weapons, and roars of beasts filled the air. But Eren ignored it all, his red eyes focused on a single figure—a tall Troll standing just a couple of feet away.
"What are you doing?! Stay insi—!"
A knight’s voice shouted from nearby, but the moment he turned and saw Eren, his words caught in his throat. His expression shifted instantly—from urgency to horror.
Eren noticed the knight’s face going pale, his eyes darting to the bloodied sword gripped tightly in his trembling hands.
"You,"
Eren said coldly, pointing at the weapon.
"Give me your sword."
His voice was low, calm, but filled with menace.
The knight, unsure how to respond, stood frozen for a second. His mouth opened but no words came out. He simply gulped. Seeing this hesitation, Eren’s eyebrows furrowed in displeasure. His next words were like ice.
"NOW."
The knight flinched. Finally breaking out of his daze, he quickly stepped forward and handed over the sword with both trembling hands.
"H-here..." he stammered, his voice weak and shaken.
Eren took the sword without a word, glancing at the blade, already drenched in blood. Then, without hesitation, he turned to face the towering troll that was battling two knights at once—the same knights who were sent flying earlier by the beast’s massive strength.
–Swush!
With a swift, forceful swing, Eren cleared the excess blood from the sword’s blade. He began walking calmly toward the Troll, his face unreadable, eyes cold and dead like a winter’s night.
The knight who had given up his weapon instinctively wanted to stop him, knowing the danger ahead. But something—an unexplainable feeling—warned him not to interfere.
Even Marie, the maid, standing at the carriage doorway, stared in horror, unable to move. Her lips trembled as she whispered, "Young master..."
....
All around them, knights were engaged in chaotic battle, desperately fending off monstrous beasts to protect the convoy. Servants and doctors cowered inside the carriages, peeking through windows with terrified eyes.
One of the knights stationed near Eren’s carriage suddenly turned and caught sight of him calmly approaching the Troll.
"What are the knights doing?! Why is no one guarding the young master?!" he shouted angrily.
He slashed at a Duskhorn Beast in front of him, pushing it aside, and immediately ran towards Eren.
They had been ordered—by the commander himself—to protect the second young master with their lives. This knight, more observant than most, knew where his priorities lay. Without hesitation, he abandoned the carriage he was protecting, trusting his fellow knights to handle it.
But as he drew near, what he saw made him halt mid-step, his eyes wide.
"What the—?!"
And he wasn’t the only one. Another knight, catching a glimpse of the same scene, also stopped dead in his tracks.
