Chapter 403: Someone That She Could Trust

Chris panicked, he opened and closed his mouth several times trying to formulate an answer.

Elsa stared at him waiting for an answer but Chris had luck on his side as Yakobo suddenly bit and pulled Elsa’s slacks, grabbing her attention.

"What is it little one? Did you smell the meat? Do you want some?" Elsa talked to the pup with a playful voice.

"Here..." Chris handed a thin slice of raw beef from the ones he just unpacked.

Elsa frowned and stared at his hand holding the meat. "He is a puppy, I don’t think raw meat is good for him."

"He is a wolf, it’s ok he would love it."

But Elsa was hesitating to take it. Her children love the wolf pup and so does she. They will all worry and be sad if something happens to the pup.

Chris moved closer, "If you are worried, then let me."

He took Yakobo from Elsa and offered the meat. The pup looked at him first and then bit the piece of meat from his hand including his finger.

"Oh God!" Elsa clearly saw what happened and immediately took the pup away from Chris and placed it on the floor. She then grabbed his hand toward the sink and ran cold water on it.

"Wena get the first aid kit quick!" Elsa said.

She then gently squeezed Chris’ bleeding finger. "Why didn’t you move your finger away, are you–"

Elsa stopped when he glanced at Chris and saw him looking somewhere else as if enchanted by something. She followed his line of sight and saw him looking at the wolf pup who was staring back at him calmly.

"Hey! Are you listening to me?" Elsa called out.

"Y-Yeah, you have a very cute wolf puppy."

"What? Did his bite make you disoriented? You still find him cute after he bit you?" Elsa sighed and shook her head as she continued washing his bleeding finger. Their puppy just bit her boss and she doesn’t know how to make up for that.

"It’s only natural for them to bite, but don’t get angry at him. He must miss meat a lot that’s why he made a mistake and bit my finger as well. I could train it if you want," Chris said with a smirk.

Elsa stared at Chris, taken aback by his offer. "He already bit you, and you still want to train him? It’s okay, I used to train my huskies, so I know what to do." She then grabbed a towel to dry his hand.

"But you’re busy with the kids. Besides, we’re neighbors now, and neighbors help each other. I could come over daily and train Yakobo. Do you want me to be alone and sad in my house while yours is full of lively, happy people?"

"You’re crazy, do you know that?"

"I do. Plus, I also like your kids, and they like me. So, just say yes," Chris insisted.

"You really like kids that much, huh?"

Wena arrived with the first aid kit and quickly handed it to Elsa.

"Not really, just your kids..." Chris replied.

Once again, Elsa was rendered speechless by his words. She paused in opening the first aid kit and looked at Chris.

"Why don’t you make your own then?" she quipped but Chris was more than prepared to keep on astounding her.

"Would you like to have more? With me?"

Elsa’s jaw dropped. ’This person is relentlessly crazy!’

"I give up, I can’t keep up with your jokes, Mr. Chairman," Elsa responded.

Chris chuckled and said, "Sometimes jokes aren’t just jokes. Sometimes they’re real."

"Whatever... Roll up your sleeves to your upper arm," she instructed after wrapping his finger with a bandage.

"What for? It’s tight, it won’t go that high."

"I’m going to inject you with anti-tetanus. Unbutton your shirt and expose your shoulder." She bent down, opened a small fridge under the island counter, and took out the vial.

When she turned back to Chris, his shirt was still buttoned.

"I can’t do it," Chris said, lifting his bandaged finger.

Elsa moved closer and started unbuttoning his shirt for him. As his chest slowly came into view, she began to feel hot, with sweat forming on her forehead.

"Are you nervous to touch me, Dr. Morgan?" Chris whispered.

"W-What? W-Why should I?" Elsa stuttered since Chris was not wrong. There’s something about her boss that makes her feel uneasy and nervous.

"Then why are you sweating?" Chris teased.

"Because you’re my boss and my dog bit you, that’s why." She moved faster, wanting to finish what she needed to do so she could move away from him. Being close to him is dangerous. He is making he feel things that she couldn’t explain.

After unbuttoning his shirt, she gently but quickly pulled his collar to expose his shoulder. With a swift move, she wiped it with an alcohol pad and injected the anti-tetanus. It was so fast that Chri had no time to react until she stepped back and started packing up the first aid kit.

"Wow, you have gentle hands. I didn’t even feel the needle," Chris praised.

"Go back to the living room. You can no longer help here since you are injured," Elsa said before grabbing the pan.

"No, I can still help you, I have my other hand." Chris continued unpacking the meat, placing it on the tray.

"Will you live alone in your house?"

Chris was surprised that Elsa suddenly asked that. It was the first time that she showed curiosity about his life.

"Yes, after Elandir finds his own house. He prefers to live in a penthouse so he could be near everything in the city," Chris answered.

"I see. If you get lonely or hungry, you can always come here and eat. My house is always open for you," Elsa uttered which she immediately regretted.

’What the fuck am I saying? Come here? Always open? We just met today! Did he hypnotize me? Why am I so friendly to him?’ Elsa could not understand her actions towards him anymore. Ever since she lost her memory, she became vigilant of her surroundings and people.

But it’s different when she’s with her boss. She feels at ease even though she makes him nervous when he talks, she still feels as if she has known him for a long time. She could even feel that even though they just met, he was someone that she could trust.
