The Royal Mark-Chapter 375: Marina’s Plan

Elsa called put Chris once again. He had to put off his conversation with Marina for now and promise to continue it later together with Hera and Nathan.

Everyone lined up on the stage where Rocco and his parents were to give him gifts. To Elsa’s surprise, the guests not only gave her son gifts but also to her.

Most of the gifts they received were jewels, tiny trinkets, and small toys since Hera and Nathan specifically told them not to give large gifts since they could only carry a handful going to Novus.

"I still could not believe these people! They really spend a lot just to give us something to remember them," Elsa said as she and Chris walked to their room after putting Rocco to sleep in the nursery.

"It’s because you really made an impact on their lives and they had given you a special place in their hearts," Chris replied, snaking his hand around her waist.

"Chris, I will not go back to the Great Hall anymore. I’m sleepy and it’s not good for our babies if I stay up late. You should go back and entertain our guests," Elsa said, yawning.

"Are you sure you’ll be fine by yourself?" he asked with a worried tone.

"Of course, I will be. If you are that worried, then you can stay by my side until I fall asleep."

Chris smiled and planted a soft kiss on her forehead as he embraced her tight. "That’s much better. Let’s go."

He did not have to wait long for Elsa to be true to her words. She fell asleep just seconds after her back touched the bed. Chris gave her one last kiss before going back to the Great Hall.

Everyone was having fun dancing and drinking to their hearts’ content. He immediately found Marina who looked like having a fun conversation with Hera as both women with chuckling and giggling.

Marina sensed his gaze and whispered something to Hera before parting ways with her. She headed towards him and murmured, "Follow me."

He acted as if he was just going somewhere as he greeted the guests while looking for Elandir. He saw him drinking with Andrius and Stefan so he took the opportunity to briskly follow Marina.

She led him to the garden where Hera and Nathan were already waiting.

"Thank you for meeting me and being discreet about it," Marina told the three. "Like what I’ve told you earlier, I want to join Elsa in Novus. I have already asked Queen Ydril if I can go there and she said yes."

Hera pressed her lips together, feeling mixed emotions as she rubbed Marina’s arms gently. "Are you sure about that? Life in Novus is not easy. There, you have to work hard to be able to survive."

"I know that from your stories. But this is something that I must do for both of us. We all know that our love will never be good for Qiryn and its people. I am not that selfish. I live in this kingdom too.

His destiny is to be the King of Qiryn. Even though I’ve lost my capability to turn into a mermaid after what happened in Salvidar, I am still not an elf. We cannot be married and I cannot allow him to destroy his dream of leading his people and ruin his destiny just to be with me.

Qiryn and Vectus need him more. I don’t want to become a hindrance. Besides, whatever option he chooses will break both our hearts so I will decide for both of us. It is better this way. If I go to Novus then he won’t refuse the crown. He would be able to forget me and move on. He can find a suitable Queen and have his heir with her." Marina voiced out.

Chris, Hera, and Nathan were speechless at the decision that Marina had made. The three of them chose love over their titles and kingdom but it still didn’t go well in the end. The three of them will still need to say goodbye to their loved one and that’s why they felt that they are not in the right position to tell Marina to choose Elandir.

"When will his coronation be?" Chris asked/

"I heard King Tyrion tell King Andrius and his father that he will pass the crown to Elandir after Elsa goes to Novus. So, you see, it’s the perfect place for me to go. He won’t find me there and he won’t have any reason to not accept the throne anymore once I am gone," Marina explained.

Hera sighed and said, "Have you thought of what will Elandir feel? You will break his heart."

It was the time that Marina could no longer hold her tears. Just thinking that Elandir will feel betrayed and will cry at night because of a broken heart made her cry as well.

"If he refuses the throne because of me, a lot of hearts will be broken, including his and mine. But if I leave, there will only be two broken hearts. Qiryn and its people do not need to suffer because of our love."

"You are a brave woman, Marina," Chris said. "But you are forgetting that Elandir promised to check on my family every now and then so he would still see you."

"I have been thinking about it," Nathan spoke, "She could replace Nadel in Elsa’s memory and live away from us. She could visit us once in a while it would be less risky and Elandir wouldn’t suspect a thing.

She could change her name there to whatever she likes. We could also say that she had plastic surgery after an accident reason why her face changed. She can live Nadel’s life or change it however she wants. She can be whatever she wants to be in Novus and I will be there to help her."

Marina stopped sobbing after hearing Nathan’s proposition. Her mood changed and for the first time after deciding to leave Vectus, she once felt that there was still hope for her to enjoy her life away from Elandir.
