The Royal Mark-Chapter 319: Brave Queen
"They are in the cave in the White Shadow Mountain. The cave is somewhere in the Mountain Ash Forest..."
Everyone stayed silent after hearing Elandir, some stared at him, some lowered their heads and looked at their fidgeting fingers, and some gazed somewhere else.
Elsa observed the reaction of everyone and was baffled by their reaction so she asked, "Where is the White Shadow Mountain?"
Chris was the first to snap out of their stupor. "It’s the highest mountain in Vectus, and that’s where it is," Chris said, pointing to the window.
Elsa’s gaze followed Chris’s hand to the snowy mountain visible through the window. She stepped closer for a better view, staring at the peak, completely captivated.
Suddenly, she gasped and covered her mouth as a realization struck her. "Of course! That’s the mountain from my dreams! How did I not recognize it before?"
"Maybe it’s because you haven’t had a moment to rest since arriving in Arcanis. But are you sure that’s the mountain you told me about before?" Chris asked.
"Yes! I’m certain. It looks different from various angles, but from here it’s similar. If I were on the ground, the view might match exactly what I saw in my dreams."
"That’s reassuring; at least we know where they are," Elandir said. "But there’s more. According to the archmage’s book, you need to find the well first to unlock the cave entrance."
"Wow... So the well in my dream is real too. In my dream, the well’s water turned into blood, and an earthquake always followed when the water turned red," Elsa recounted.
"Amazing!" Elandir exclaimed loudly. "Queen Elsa, you must have foresight similar to your mother. The archmage wrote just that. Here, read this." Elandir gave a piece of paper with an excerpt that he copied from the book.
"To unveil the mountain’s secret, an offering is required...
Fresh blood from the ones who carved the resting place of the holy ones...
A drop of blood from the ones who put them to rest...
And finally, blood from their kind."
Elsa read it loudly with a frown. "What does that even mean?" she asked Elandir.
"Exactly what it said, it needs a drop of blood from those people."
"What? But those people were dead a long time ago," Elsa replied, still confused.
Elandir chuckled, "You are taking it too literally, My Queen. According to the book, it was the true alphas who carved the cave. The angels are the ones who put the divine mages to sleep and there are still four people from their bloodline: Valeria, Princess Hera, you, and Prince Rocco."
Elsa’s eyes widened in joy and beamed, "That’s right! So we only need my blood and Chris’ blood right?"
"Right–"
Chris quickly stopped Elandir from speaking further without disclosing the most important information to Elsa. He doesn’t want to get her hopes up just yet.
"You are forgetting something Elandir. You said it is somewhere in the Mountain Ash Forest. The White Shadow Mountain itself is dangerous for mages and even werewolves like us. But it’s worse, it is called Mountain Ash Forest because it is full of mountain ash trees.
It does not only prevent cursed beings from entering the forest but it will also kill us if we stay that long inside it. Also, that mountain is forbidden. It is known to neutralize any ability or power of anyone who will climb that mountain.
The elements in that mountain are harsh and not having any ability or power will surely kill that individual. So how do you suggest we go there and wake the divine mages up?" Chris informed everyone.
Everyone was silenced by Chris’ question. In the past, many had attempted to climb the said mountain out of curiosity about what could be seen there but no one succeeded and they were not able to go back.
Now that they know what’s in there, they have no choice but to go there to be able to save their prince and their queen’s family.
"Does the mountain have dangerous creatures?" Elsa asked.
"None that we know of, but I am certain that no creature could survive there since they won’t be able to eat or drink. The only thing living there is the mountain ash tree and everything is just rock and snow," Chris answered.
"I see, then you mean to say, is that the only thing that we are going up against is the weather right?" Elsa clarified. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"I believe so."
"Then it’s straightforward. Even if our abilities and powers don’t work there, we just need to bring the right tools to help us climb the snowy mountain and the essentials to keep us alive.
You rely too much on your powers and forget the simple things that can help. In my world, mountaineers climb even higher peaks. It might take them days to reach the summit, but they always return to share their stories," Elsa pointed out.
Murmurs were heard in the hall, and most were agreeing with their queen.
"Would you like to lead this expedition, My Queen?" Chris offered to Elsa with a soothing voice and a gentle smile.
Elsa’s eyes welled up at the offer. ’Are you really trusting me on this one? You never wanted me to lead anything dangerous before. What made you change your mind?’ she asked through their bond, not wanting others to hear it.
’You have been dreaming of this for so long and now I understand why. Because this was meant for you. This is yours to solve and win not mine. However, I will be by your side every step of the way to guide and protect you at any cost.’
"So, what do you think, My Luna? Are you willing to do it?" Chris asked with a smirk.
A single drop of tear fell from Elsa’s right eye as she nodded. "Yes, I will risk my life for my son, father and aunt. I will do this for them."
Hoven stood up and raised his fist, "To our brave Queen! Queen Elsa Jorgensen!" he exclaimed.
Everyone cheered with Hoven before Chris stopped them. "Enough of that. Let’s all get to work!" Chris ordered.
"I shall go then. See you on your coronation, King Christopher, Queen Elsa," Elandir uttered before disappearing into the portal that he summoned.
