Chapter 46: Beautiful

"You, dumb bitch, how could you fucking make a mistake like that!? Do you know much—" The man’s yelling towards Violet paused when Sylas’s sharp eyes fell on the man.

Feeling an invisible pressure weigh down on him, the man’s voice turned down by a notch, and he carried on, "Well, you should have been more careful."

Sylas couldn’t find himself being hard-hearted towards Violet. "I will pay for the damages. Will that be fine?"

Violet’s eyes brightened up when she heard that. There was a mixture of gratitude and guilt reflected in her gaze.

"How dare you arrogantly think that you can walk around her and demand to pay for the damages, expecting everything will be fine? Do you think money will solve everything!?" The man yelled, trying to exert his power.

Sylas arched his brow.

"Is that so?" There was a drop in Sylas’s tone.

The officer stood up, trying to calm the tension between both of them. "I am sure both of you can reach into a solution by talking. Although the damage was extensive, since Mr. Sylas here is willing to cooperate with the payment, I am sure you can have an amicable result."

The corner of Sylas’s lips curved up.

"I am sure we can reach into a cooperation."

Although Sylas’s tone was amiable, those calm steely-blue eyes pinned down the man. Bullets of sweat formed on the man’s forehead, and his knees started to get weak. His hand trembled.

His instincts screamed how this man was dangerous and not to be trifled with.

"Well, well, how much do you want to compensate me?" The man stuttered out.

"All the cost of physical and mental damage, also the time you have wasted due to this altercation," Sylas vocalized.

After that, the conversation between them proceeded, and the calculation was carried out. When they reached a value both were satisfied with, Sylas made the payment.

Even the officer was shocked by how easily the matter was handled, especially since the victim was a difficult person. However, along the way, it appeared he submitted to Sylas, listening along to everything he had to say.

When the dealing was done, Sylas said, "You can keep Lucas here. It will be pleasant to have him spend next couple months in the prison for felony. It ought to teach him a lesson."

This made Lucas whine, "Come on, now. You can’t be that harsh."

Violet nodded. "Lucas got into trouble because of me. If anything, I should be the one staying the behind the bar."

"Both of your camaraderie is indeed impressive," Sylas commented, "Violet, I will deal with you later. Follow me now."

Violet went towards Sylas, and as Sylas was about to walk away, Violet brought up again: "But, Lucas..."

"Even if you don’t worry about him, he is shameless enough to follow after. Ignore him," Sylas spoke out.

Violet leaped and rushed forward to stand in front of the Alpha once they were out of the police station.

"Thank you, Alpha. I will pay you back for every penny you spent on me tonight, I promise!" A wide grin adorned her face.

"I will be waiting," Sylas responded.

Violet was about to respond when a sharp pain went through her chest. A gasp left her mouth while she covered her chest and sat down on the ground.

Sylas bent down to her height.

"Hold on."

The next moment Sylas placed his hand around her legs and picked her up in a princess style, taking her by surprise. This distracted her for a second when another wave of pain washed over, and her heart clenched painfully.

Violet’s pain only grew intense until she was brought to the hospital and medicated until she reached a semi-conscious state. The conversations happening around her reached her ear, but she wasn’t able to move a limb.

She heard Lydia scold Lucas for letting her go out and getting in trouble. Lucas didn’t argue, silently listening to her. On the other hand, she heard the nurses running around, and sometimes she could feel the medicines being injected in her veins.

The next following four days she spent in the hospital drained the spirit out of her. The constant spell of the disinfectant, the poking of the needles, and the depressing atmosphere of the hospital made her desperately want to leave the place.

However, no matter how much she begged Lydia, it was set that Violet had to stay here on the bed for at least a week. Even Lucas maintained a strict attitude this time, not letting her step out of the room unless it is necessary.

Therefore, left to her own devices, she could only indulge in her thoughts.

She recalled about how when she was in pain that day, Sylas carried her. As his warm embrace wrapped around her, the scent of the intoxicating grape wine filled her senses.

Her heart pounded inside her chest at the thought of that.

Violet wondered if she was getting addicted to Sylas’s scent. Why did she crave it more and more as days passed by?

A pout formed on her face when she thought about how the Alpha hasn’t visited her yet. Although the Alpha’s cold attitude does not leave much space for expectations, she thought she was important enough for him to check up on her condition.

Violet sighed.

Then again, the Alpha has lot on his plate. He must be busy.

She should already be grateful how he did not punish her after the mess she made last time. He already had to pay a hefty compensation.

"I wonder what he kinda of me," Violet mumbled.

Alpha was sometimes so generous to her Violet felt she had a place in his heart; it made her feel connected to him. However, the walls around him was set so thick that it cuts off her imagination the next second.

Another sigh left her mouth.

"What are you thinking so hard about, Violet? Are you going through a heartbreak?" asked a pre-teen girl, sitting down beside her.

Violet was seated outside her room on the bench. When she work up early in the morning, her limbs were weak, and she could hardly stand up without feeling dizzy.

However, after being medicated, her head felt a lot clearer, and she asked the nurse to help her outside. Although the hospital harbored many tragic incidents, Violet decided to sit out to watch it all unfold instead of suffocating inside the room.

"A heartbreak?" Violet arched her brows.

"Well, the look in your eyes is same as though who is suffering in love. So, what is the story? I can help you out," Anna offered, staring at her inquisitively.

Violet chuckled. "Aren’t you too young for these discussions? What do you know about love?"

Anna scrunched up her nose and using a know-it-all tone, spoke out, "Although I haven’t done anything, I know everything there is to know. The novels inform me enough."

Then, her gaze lowered, dimming slightly, and a sigh left her mouth.

"I wish I got to experience all that beautiful love."

Violet felt sad hearing that. Anna suffered from autoimmune disorder. The human child had been told by the doctor how she wouldn’t live more than a month or two, but treatments are being carried out to extend her life.

Extending her hand, she patted on her forehead.

"Everything will be fine. Both of us will get better, and you will get to grow up well. Let’s experience the beautiful love, alright?" Violet expressed in an attempt to cheer her up.

Anna extended her hand and grabbed on to Violet’s. Leaning her head against Violet’s shoulder, she expressed, "It is nice to have you here, Violet. I have a friend to play with. Can you stay with me here forever?"

Growing up, Violet was always doted on and never had the opportunity to take care of others. Even now, Sylas, Lucas, and Lydia treated her like a child— someone who needed to be under constant care.

Therefore, now the dependency shown by Anna made her wish she was her little sister. Maybe having a little sister would be this cute.

Then, her hand went towards her stomach. A gentle smile fell on her face as she patted it. Although the awareness of being a mother still hasn’t sank into her, the idea of having her own child excited her greatly.

Anna’s eyes fell on her stomach.

"Do you know the gender of the child? Is it a boy or a girl?" Anna eagerly asked.

Violet shook her head.

She did not know about it yet. They were busy running tests on her to keep her alive that the gender of the child wasn’t considered at all.

"Then, I hope it’s a little girl. Then, I can dress her up as a princess and play with her," Anna expressed cheerfully.

Violet nodded. "We can do that."

"But, Violet, where is the father of the child? He is your lover, right?" Anna promptly questioned.

"What would you do with that information?"

"Come on. Don’t keep me curious. Is it the tall and beautiful man? I like him a lot! He is just my type!" Anna exclaimed.

"Tall and beautiful man? You saw him?" Violet furrowed her brows.
