The Rise of the Iron Wall!-Chapter 67: Spartan Cram Class Begins!
The day was finally over with a full stomach—a slight stomachache—and a warm heart, and no matter how much Higo wanted time to freeze, everything had to move. After this, Ayaka also went back to Tokyo, admitting that she was only here to watch his game.
"Bah! I have never thought that you could be like that, Ryukkun! It seems that Kumiko-chan has done a great job taking care of you! Still, you also have to take care of her and Mom, okay? Don’t forget that you are the patriarch of the family!"
Higo was so touched when he heard that she was only here to watch him. Even though Ayaka could be prickly and sarcastic, she was always a warm person inside, always becoming his biggest supporter behind the scenes.
Unfortunately, once again, even all the great things in the world had to end, and when Higo went back to the school the next day, everything was back to normal again.
Hell, he thought, after such an amazing win, he would be exempted from the student’s duty, a naïve thought that would be proven wrong the moment the teacher arrived at the class. The man—probably around 35—came with a solemn expression, enough to make the whole classroom tense.
Then, in a dramatic, slow fashion, he finally dropped the bomb. "So... We will have our final exam next week, so you guys better prepare yourself to die if you don’t want to go to the remedial class, okay?!"
Right after that, chatters erupted, with some starting to hyperventilate in panic. While Higo himself was not one to be that dramatic, it would be a lie if he said that he wasn’t nervous here. After all, with his joining the club, his preparation for the exam was sidelined a little bit, and it would take hard work for him to catch up.
However, his reaction wasn’t the worst here.
In the other classrooms, the other members of the football team started to scream as if this were the end of the world.
"Fujinaga... Please, tell Shshida-senpai I like her, okay..." Jun whispered weakly as if this was his last message before dying.
"Hahaha... Final exam, huh?" Meanwhile, Hiroshi just laughed hollowly, as if Dementor had just sucked his soul. "If we cannot have a great result, we will not be able to go to Sapporo, huh? This is over...Hahaha..."
In panic, Hori rushed into the sophomore class and slammed the door open, attracting everyone’s attention.
"Shishida-senpai!" He panted heavily, ignoring the strange gazes from the others. "HELP!"
In the end, Kumiko didn’t have any choice here. She, together with Makino, transformed the club’s room into an emergency classroom, with them ready to tutor all the idiots in the club simultaneously.
"Listen, you Bastards!" Makino scowled; his mood was quite bad this time. "I don’t care what kind of method you use in the next exam, as long as it is not cheating and you pass the grade, you win! So, ready for a Spartan cram class?!"
The question only met a dead silence, as everyone was so dreadful at the thought of studying here.
"I said..." Makino took a deep breath, trying to hold back his temper here. "ARE YOU READY OR NOT?!"
"SIR, YES SIR!"
This time, no one dared to stay silent, not wanting to test the captain’s bottom line.
So, yeah, this was also the beginning of the emergency cram class for the football team members, with Kumiko and Makino, two of the top students in the school, becoming their exclusive tutor.
"...So, this is the formula of the trigonometry identity related to this exercise. You just need to get used to applying them, and you will have no problem in the exam. Do you understand?"
"...Yes, Senpai..."
"Good. So, please do exercise 7.7 for me, okay? I will give you 30 minutes. Whoever fails to meet the passing grade will have their training doubled, do you understand?"
This time, the question was answered with a collective groan from the students, yet still the same, with none of them daring to say anything else about it.
Watching from the sideline, Higo just shook his head in exasperation. This was exactly the same as how Kumiko always taught him, so soft and full of patience. Even the exercise she asked them to do was quite simple, making her look like an angel.
’They would only know how demon she is when they start making a mistake, and that would be a spectacle to be seen...’ Higo chuckled darkly, having already imagined the scene.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the club room, Makino also started his tutoring session, beginning with the Japanese subject. This time, though, the dark aura radiating from his body was enough to suffocate all the students in front of him, and the fact that he didn’t say a single word only made everything worse.
"So... Three inches of a composition, huh..." He finally spoke, enough to make everyone tense instantly. Then, out of nowhere... "YOU IDIOTS, HOW COULD YOU MIX SO MANY KATAKANA AND HIRAGANA IN YOUR COMPOSITION?! WHAT ARE YOU, FOURTH GRADE STUDENTS?!" He roared angrily.
"H—Hey, you cannot blame the players here! Blame the game!" Jun tried to defend himself, which was the wrong decision here.
"SHUT UP!" Makino’s glare shifted quickly, making the tall boy shrink within a second. "If your mother asks you to buy one liter of milk, would you try to buy that or would you dare to mix half a liter of milk with half a liter of water?! Answer me, you idiot!"
"...The first one..."
"Good, at least, you know the principle here." Makino nodded. "Listen, it is impossible to improve your Japanese composition so quickly in a week, so we will try to transform all those hiragana and katakana into a normal kanji one like an adult! So, get ready to memorize 200 characters in a week!" 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
The groan was so loud this time, yet a single glare from the captain was enough to shut them up all.
Higo and Kuroki, the two sophomore students who weren’t included in the tutoring group since they were one year older and had a decent grade already, were so stunned to see the studious—and torturous atmosphere in the room. They were so speechless here, not knowing what to say.
In the end, it was Kuroki who asked, "So, do you think this is enough to make them pass the grade?"
In which Higo returned with an unsure tone, "I... Really hope so, for the sake of the team’s sanity, you know?"
