Chapter 79: Chapter 78: The Death of the Jiao Dragon!

Hearing the tumult from the nine strikes of Heavenly Thunder, Ma Yunbin, still crawling on the ground, grew even more terrified. His crawling form froze. He whipped his head around and shouted himself hoarse, "Master Qin! Master Qin, what’s happened to you? Why is it suddenly thundering!"

At that moment, all Ma Yunbin wanted was to go home. He was filled with regret, wishing he could slap himself right across the face. If he could choose again, he would rather die than have told Qin Fan about the Jiao Dragon. He had assumed they were just going to tag along behind those Fortune Tellers and Magicians to watch the show, never imagining they would end up fighting a Jiao Dragon! He had barely escaped with his life, and now Qin Fan was locked in a life-or-death struggle with the beast.

If Qin Fan were to be killed by the Jiao Dragon, could he possibly escape again? Impossible. With his legs cramping and numb, how could he possibly evade an attack from the Jiao Dragon? There was no help from heaven and no way out on earth.

When no reply came from Qin Fan, Ma Yunbin started crying again. The young master, who hadn’t shed a tear in who knows how long, was once again a pathetic sight.

「Inside the cave pool.」

Qin Fan heard Ma Yunbin’s trembling shouts, but he couldn’t be bothered to reply. His eyes were fixed on the Jiao Dragon twitching on the ground, battered by the nine Heavenly Thunders, and a surge of elation filled his heart. He strode forward!

But just as he was about to leap onto the dragon’s back, it suddenly sprang up. No longer daring to confront Qin Fan, it endured the agonizing pain of its wounds and flew shakily toward the deep pool, its body riddled with holes from the thunder.

"Oh? Playing dead, are we?" Qin Fan chuckled softly, observing that the dragon’s speed was greatly diminished. He allowed it to plunge toward the deep pool. However, just as a glimmer of hope appeared for the Jiao Dragon, Qin Fan’s lips curled into a wicked smile as he decisively drew a Talisman and flicked it effortlessly toward the water’s surface.

"Cold Ice Talisman!"

The moment the Cold Ice Talisman touched the water, a series of cracking sounds erupted. CRACK! CRACK! CRACK! The entire surface of the pool instantly froze over, transforming into a sheet of crystal-clear ice!

The Jiao Dragon, diving headfirst toward the pool, had no time to swerve. It smashed hard against the icy surface, creating a massive crater. Opening its eyes, it saw the completely frozen depths below, and all hope was instantly extinguished.

"ROAR!!!"

Tilting back its mangled head, it let out a howl of utter grief and despair.

Suddenly, following the Jiao Dragon’s roar, a sharp crackling sound erupted from its body as its severely damaged scales began to fall off in droves. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Hmm, is it advancing to the next stage? Qin Fan was startled by the sight, but his surprise quickly turned into excitement. The Jiao Dragon’s advancement meant that every part of it would become even more precious. But he only had three minutes. After three minutes, the Ice Curse would wear off. Once the Jiao Dragon got back into the water, all he could do was sigh in regret.

"What a pity for you, to have encountered me, the Shura Venerable, today! The Ice Curse may only last three minutes, but three minutes is more than enough time to slaughter you!" he murmured.

With that, Qin Fan stomped the ground and launched himself into the air. Clenching his fists, he plummeted toward the Jiao Dragon, which was lying prone on the ice as it molted, and brought them down with a heaven-shattering blow!

"WHIMPER!"

Struck by the two mighty fists, the Jiao Dragon threw its head back and cried out in pain. But in the next moment, the unexpected happened. Qin Fan’s two punches had actually accelerated its molting process! Under the force of the blows, which were powerful enough to make the entire ice sheet tremble, all of the Jiao Dragon’s remaining broken scales were shaken off completely.

In the blink of an eye, it underwent a complete transformation. Layers of brand-new scales sprouted all over its body, and even the mouth that had been blasted open by the fireball began to heal.

"HISS!!!"

The Jiao Dragon let out a roar of sheer excitement. With a flick of its tail, it caught the unprepared Qin Fan and sent him flying into the stone wall.

Slamming into the stone wall for another painful, intimate encounter, Qin Fan grimaced and let out a stifled groan. Completely caught off guard, he had not even landed before the Jiao Dragon, filled with endless rage and hatred, opened its gaping maw and lunged at him ferociously once more.

Seeing the incoming attack, Qin Fan simply smiled as his feet touched the ground.

"You dare to come at me again? Don’t you know that a creature is at its most vulnerable right after a transformation?" he shouted with a wild laugh.

Just as the Jiao Dragon was about to spew its filthy cold breath, the Talismans in his robe flew out on their own. Qin Fan casually snatched one and flung it at the beast. "Freeze!"

SWISH—

In an instant of silence, the Jiao Dragon’s body froze solid in mid-air. Its mouth, open and ready to exhale, was now completely immobile. With his Eyes of Golden Flame, Qin Fan could clearly see the filthy cold breath gathered inside, poised for release.

"Die! Hahaha!" he bellowed maniacally. Enduring the throbbing pain from his slightly misaligned organs, Qin Fan kicked the Jiao Dragon’s head, using the momentum to vault upward. "Earth Evil Seventy-Two Forms, Third Form: Hundred Cracks Divine Miasma!" he roared.

As he shouted, he channeled all the True Qi from his Dantian into his right hand. Gritting his teeth, he spread his palm and slammed it down hard onto the Jiao Dragon’s neck.

RRRIP! RRRIP!

After Qin Fan’s palm struck, cracks erupted all over the immobilized Jiao Dragon’s body. The single strike had nearly exhausted his True Essence Qi. Looking pale, he landed on the Jiao Dragon’s back and slumped down. Fighting off the dizziness and discomfort from his depleted energy, he shook his head fiercely.

Amid the spreading cracks on the dragon’s body, he activated his Eyes of Golden Flame. The moment he located the Dragon Tendon, he acted. He plunged his hand straight into the fractured neck, seized the tendon, and with a grunt, yanked it outward!

RRRRIP!!!

He held the entire Dragon Tendon in his hand, pulled clean out by the roots.

"WHIMPER—!"

As the Immobilization Charm’s effect faded, the Jiao Dragon let out a final, mournful cry. Its body was fractured, its tendon had been torn out; the beast slowly closed its eyes. With Qin Fan’s weakened form still on its back, it crashed heavily to the ground, its life force extinguished. It was completely and utterly dead.

Wrapping the Dragon Tendon around his hand, Qin Fan struggled down from the dragon’s back. The moment his feet touched the ground, he plopped down, completely spent. He looked at the dead Jiao Dragon and took several deep breaths to calm his chaotic energy. A wry smile touched his lips. "Thankfully, I prepared over a dozen Talismans before coming. Otherwise, my few tricks would have drained me before I could even subdue this beast," he muttered. "The initial stage of Qi Refinement is still just that—initial. My True Yuan can only support the first three of the seventy-two forms. If this creature hadn’t died, I would have been the one to die!"

After muttering to himself, Qin Fan staggered unsteadily to his feet. He summoned the Qiankun Bag from his sea of consciousness and whispered, "Collect!"

As he gave the command, the Jiao Dragon on the ground vanished without a trace.

「Outside the cave pool.」

Ma Yunbin, whose legs had just recovered from their cramping numbness, struggled to his feet. Leaning against the stone wall in the pitch-black darkness, he cried out, "Master Qin, where are you? I’m scared! I’m so scared!"

"I’m here! Stop yelling!" Hearing the unmistakable sobs, Qin Fan couldn’t help but feel a mix of amusement and exasperation as he called back, enduring his own weakness. The light from his Eyes of Golden Flame slowly swept over toward Ma Yunbin.
