The Revenge of the Reborn Supreme Sovereign-Chapter 52 - 51: A Word of Ignorance, A Word of Foolishness!
Qin Fan turned around.
An old man, roughly sixty years old with a goatee, was smiling at him. He wore loose hemp garments and on his feet were a pair of ancient-looking cloth shoes. His empty hands were not holding a compass or other tools like the others, yet, this only made him seem all the more like a true master.
Facing the goateed old man’s smiling question, Qin Fan shook his head with a hint of insolence. He scoffed, "I’m laughing at these ignorant fools! Having aspirations is good, but a pursuit that will forever yield no results only highlights their stupidity! Instead of wasting time and effort on this, they might as well be out earning some gold!"
Ignorance? Stupidity? So, all these accomplished Feng Shui Masters of the Geomancy World were now just ignorant fools in the eyes of this kid?
Lai Zhuge had considered many possible replies from Qin Fan, but he never expected such sharp and pointed words. He couldn’t help but smile wryly in his astonishment. "Would the young friend enlighten me as to how they are ignorant? Where exactly does their stupidity lie?"
Qin Fan, who was only killing time, didn’t mind bickering for a moment. Licking his lips, he swept his gaze around arrogantly.
He then said, "Whether it’s the ancients or people today, they always parrot the line ’Fate first, Fortune second, Feng Shui third.’ This so-called fate and fortune is ultimately just another way of talking about ’opportunity’! Everyone says this Foreign Ghost Bureau is a grand Feng Shui layout that can ennoble kings for nine generations and appoint prime ministers for ten. But if the true acupoint could be found so easily, how could it have remained undiscovered until now? Using an ordinary compass and a common Dragon Seeking Ruler to try and pinpoint the true acupoint of a layout that has remained unsolved for so many years... do you think that’s realistic? Of course, I don’t deny the possibility of someone stumbling upon it by chance! But all these masters think of themselves as the one person blessed with such an opportunity. Doesn’t that just prove their ignorance and stupidity?"
Listening to Qin Fan’s explanation, Lai Zhuge was momentarily speechless. By that logic, it wasn’t just the other Feng Shui Masters who were ignorant and stupid; he had been lumped into that category as well.
After a moment of silence, he let out a bitter laugh. "Young friend, your words would make the entire Geomancy World feel ashamed! Perhaps this really is a display of our ignorance and stupidity. In that case, what is your opinion of this Foreign Ghost Bureau?"
"I have no opinion! I’m not interested in this stuff. The prospect of ennobling kings for nine generations and appointing prime ministers for ten holds little appeal for me! There’s nothing tempting about it!" Qin Fan said with arrogant disdain.
To the former Shura Venerable, this was nothing. Even though his Cultivation was only at the initial stage of Qi Refinement, he could unravel this Foreign Ghost Bureau—coveted by countless powerful figures—whenever he wished. After all, Feng Shui was derived from Qi. For a Cultivator, sensing Qi to pinpoint a location was an utterly commonplace skill. If not for the fact that Qin Fan couldn’t be bothered, the most profound and youngest leading figure in the history of the Feng Shui World would have been born in an instant!
So what if it could ennoble kings for nine generations and appoint prime ministers for ten? Were my goals ever limited to this Earth? Ascension Immortal—that is my true pursuit!
Faced with Qin Fan’s boundless arrogance, Lai Zhuge was stunned again and again.
Ennobling kings for nine generations and appointing prime ministers for ten held no appeal? No temptation at all? Who is the ignorant one here? Who is the fool?
Subconsciously, Lai Zhuge almost laughed in scorn at this ignorant child. But his years of life experience made him sense an unusual aura about Qin Fan. Moreover, were these words that a normal teenager could utter?
For a moment, Lai Zhuge stared at Qin Fan in a daze.
"What’s the matter? Is there a flower on my face?" Qin Fan asked playfully, sensing the change in Lai Zhuge’s demeanor.
"Heh, my apologies. I lost my composure," Lai Zhuge replied, shaking his head with a wry smile.
Just then, a rustling sound arose as several young men in crisp suits, their temples slightly bulging, escorted a dignified middle-aged man who carried the heavy air of an official.
"Master Lai, I was wondering where you’d disappeared to. So you were here," the middle-aged man said with a respectful smile, "And this is?"
He finished speaking and gave Qin Fan a slight nod. Despite his obvious high status, the man showed no sign of arrogance.
"I was just listening to this young friend’s intriguing words, so this old man had a brief discussion with him about the Geomancy Path. He has truly broadened my horizons. In my opinion, among the younger generation, this young friend is truly a dragon among men!" Lai Zhuge finished with a chuckle, full of praise and admiration.
These words sent shockwaves through the middle-aged man’s heart.
A teenager discussing the Geomancy Path with Lai Zhuge? And he even earned Master Lai’s admiration, being called a dragon among men by a master who rarely ever praised anyone? This... how is this possible?
"Master Lai, the Geomancy Path?" the middle-aged man asked, somewhat in disbelief.
"Indeed! As the saying goes, ’Listening to a worthy man’s words is like awakening from a dream.’ His use of ’ignorant’ and ’stupid’ has become the most accurate description of everyone on Horse Hoof Ridge! Haha!" Lai Zhuge laughed again, his gaze on Qin Fan filled with an indescribable mix of complexity and doubt.
Whether Qin Fan was bluffing or not, based on his words alone, he was no ordinary person. But what kind of family could raise such a child?
While Lai Zhuge was lost in thought, the middle-aged man couldn’t help but frown.
Ignorance and foolishness again? What on earth did this old man and this kid discuss?
Amidst the middle-aged man’s confusion, Lai Zhuge continued with a laugh, "Fine, fine! Let’s go with the young friend’s ’ignorant and stupid’ theory. I declare this will be the last time I, Lai Zhuge, set foot on Horse Hoof Ridge. If opportunity still evades us, I will never again obsess over this Foreign Ghost Bureau! I will never set foot on Horse Hoof Ridge again! Mr. Ye, we have half a day left. If we still haven’t found the true acupoint by the end of the day, then this old man will be truly out of options!"
"Master Lai, you mean—" the middle-aged man began anxiously.
But before he could finish, Lai Zhuge cut him off. "My mind is made up. There’s nothing more to say!" 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Paying no mind to the middle-aged man’s reaction, he turned to Qin Fan with a friendly smile. "Young friend, our meeting feels destined. May I have your name, so that I may greet you properly should we meet again?"
"Qin Fan."
He didn’t hide his name. Qin Fan had a rather good impression of a Feng Shui Master like Lai Zhuge, who was clearly powerful yet remained unassuming. He replied with a simple, decisive smile.
"Qin Fan... hmm, Qin Fan," Lai Zhuge murmured. "This old man is Lai Zhuge, an unremarkable member of the Geomancy World! Well then, young friend, let us part ways for today. Farewell!"
Stroking his goatee, and without a hint of pretense despite Qin Fan’s youth, Lai Zhuge clasped his hands in a slight bow.
With that, he turned to leave, but then noticed the middle-aged man standing stock-still, staring wide-eyed at Qin Fan. In utter astonishment, the man stammered, "You... you... you’re Qin Fan? That Qin Fan from the Qin family of Jiangzhou?"
