Chapter 50: Chapter 49: Gaozhou Prefecture, Horse Hoof Ridge!

The school administration building?

When his senses pinpointed the administration building right in front of him as the source, Qin Fan was stunned.

The Gathering Spirit Grass is actually inside?

After only a moment’s pause, Qin Fan strode forward, following the aura and barging right in. His perception led him all the way to the principal’s office, finally settling on the door. Urged on by an inner desperation, Qin Fan didn’t even knock; he simply pushed the office door wide open.

"Mr. Qin?"

Principal Tao Yuan, who was tending to the strange plant Ma Yunbin had sent over, looked up at the sound and stared in astonishment. His expression then shifted to one of joy. He quickly put down his small scissors and strode eagerly toward Qin Fan.

"Mr. Qin—" Tao Yuan, his delight obvious, began to speak again.

But before he could get the words out, Qin Fan cut him off, saying softly, "Don’t talk just yet."

Following Qin Fan’s words, the utterly confused Tao Yuan followed his gaze, which was fixed intently on the Gathering Spirit Grass in the flowerpot, a plant that stood no less than ten inches tall. The moment his Eyes of Golden Flame penetrated the plant and saw the pure Spiritual Energy flowing within its roots, stem, and leaves, Qin Fan could no longer contain his elation.

He strode quickly to the Gathering Spirit Grass. Cupping the leaves and stem in his hands, he muttered joyfully to himself, "It really is, it really is!"

"Mr. Qin, what are you—"

Seeing this, Tao Yuan was completely bewildered, forgetting that Qin Fan had told him to be quiet. Looking at the ecstatic expression on Qin Fan’s face, endless questions bubbled up in his mind.

Could this plant have some great significance?

"Principal Tao, where did you get this plant?" Qin Fan asked, dropping his hands and turning around swiftly, forcing himself to contain his urgency.

"This was a gift from my nephew, Ma Yunbin. He’s the owner of the restaurant at Qi Middle School," Tao Yuan replied, still baffled. "Mr. Qin, is there something about this plant?"

"Have him come here immediately. I need to speak with him!" Qin Fan said directly, without a second thought.

The invisible aura of the Shura Venerable emanated from him. His commanding tone, like that of a superior, immediately overwhelmed Tao Yuan.

"Oh, all right. I’ll call him over now!" he said hurriedly.

With that, he quickly took out his phone to contact Ma Yunbin. After a few brief, stern words, he hung up. Turning back and swallowing hard, he asked Qin Fan, still bewildered, "Mr. Qin, is there something about this plant?"

"It’s useless to you, but it’s vital to me! Principal Tao, if you can help me find the source of this grass, I will owe you and your nephew a favor!" Qin Fan stated solemnly, his voice resonating with sincerity.

A favor from Qin Fan?

Hearing this, Tao Yuan was once again taken aback. When he had previously tried to build a connection with Qin Fan, he had been bluntly told he wasn’t interested. Yet now, Qin Fan was earnestly offering such a significant favor—all for a plant.

What on earth is so special about this plant?

Tao Yuan was completely baffled. Soon, however, his confusion gave way to delight. Although his knowledge of Qin Fan was limited to his notorious reputation at Qi Middle School and the incident at Mountain and Water Manor, the implications of that latter event were incredibly profound. So profound, in fact, that he subconsciously lowered his own standing whenever he was in Qin Fan’s presence. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

After hearing Qin Fan’s words, he paused for a moment before saying, "Mr. Qin, rest assured. I guarantee Yunbin will tell you everything he knows!"

"Good."

Having little interest in further conversation, Qin Fan gave a curt response. He then turned back to gaze at the vigorously growing Gathering Spirit Grass.

On the Cangqiong Continent, Gathering Spirit Grass was practically everywhere, so common that many cultivators wouldn’t even give it a second glance. It was like the low-level mobs in the starting area of a video game. For beginners, they were a necessary hurdle to clear to level up. But for high-level players, those mobs were just trivial nuisances blocking their path.

Qin Fan’s current situation was exactly like that of a new player in a starting zone. On an Earth where Spiritual Energy was scarce, discovering a source of Gathering Spirit Grass was like a new player discovering a vast field of mobs. He couldn’t help but be moved.

If there was a sufficient amount of Gathering Spirit Grass, it would be enough for him to solidify his foundation at the initial stage of the Qi Refinement Realm! The difference between merely entering the realm and consolidating one’s foundation within it was immense.

While Qin Fan stared, entranced, at the Gathering Spirit Grass, Tao Yuan didn’t dare to interrupt. He stood behind him, repeatedly glancing at his watch as he waited for Ma Yunbin to arrive.

Before long, Ma Yunbin came running through the open office door. "Uncle," he panted, "what did you call me for?"

"I’m the one who called for you."

Before Tao Yuan could speak, Qin Fan quickly turned around and answered. Then he got straight to the point. "Mr. Ma, where did you find this grass?"

Grass? All this for a clump of grass?

Ma Yunbin was bewildered. He only snapped out of it when Tao Yuan gave a pointed cough.

He quickly replied, "Mr. Qin, you’ve probably heard of Horse Hoof Ridge in Lingnan’s Gaozhou Prefecture, right? It has a great Feng Shui formation, the Foreign Ghost Bureau, that attracts countless Feng Shui Masters and enthusiasts. A while ago, I went with a friend just to check out the excitement. I saw this grass looked a little unusual. Since I know my uncle enjoys tinkering with plants, I dug one up, soil and all, to bring back for him. Is there something special about it?"

"Is there a lot of this grass there?"

Although he knew that Gathering Spirit Grass usually grew in large patches, Earth was, after all, different from the Cangqiong Continent. To avoid getting his hopes up only to be disappointed, Qin Fan had to ask.

"Yes, tons of it. I only brought it back because it looked rather strange. With that much of it growing around, I could tell it wasn’t anything valuable," Ma Yunbin replied honestly.

Nothing valuable? It might not be valuable to you, but to me, it’s immensely useful!

In response to Ma Yunbin’s words, Qin Fan simply nodded. "Thanks."

"Mr. Qin, are you looking for this grass? There’s a lot of it, but I only saw it in one specific spot. Horse Hoof Ridge is huge, so it won’t be easy to find. If you’re going, why don’t I take you?" Although he didn’t know why Qin Fan wanted the grass, the quick-witted Ma Yunbin saw an opportunity to get closer to him and hastily made the offer.

"That won’t be necessary," Qin Fan replied firmly.

Hard to find? Perhaps for an ordinary person. But for him, a cultivator who had entered the Qi Refinement Realm and developed his Divine Sense, it would be child’s play. Just knowing it was on Horse Hoof Ridge was enough. His Divine Sense could perceive Spiritual Energy, providing the most precise coordinates possible.

Seeing the disappointment on Ma Yunbin’s face, Qin Fan turned to Principal Tao Yuan. "Principal Tao, I need to take a few days off. Please arrange it for me. Also, could you call my family and give them an excuse from the school? I don’t want my parents to worry."

"Of course, Mr. Qin. Don’t worry, I know what to do," Tao Yuan said, nodding with a slight frown.

He was truly baffled by this unnamed plant and Qin Fan’s intense reaction to it. But given Qin Fan’s attitude, he simply shook his head and decided not to dwell on it.

"That’s all, then. Thank you."

His stern expression softened, and Qin Fan gave the uncle and nephew a small smile before striding out of the principal’s office.

「Gaozhou Prefecture, Horse Hoof Ridge.」

He didn’t want to wait a single moment longer.
