The Revenge of the Reborn Supreme Sovereign-Chapter 39 - 38: Sorry, Not Interested!
"The principal wants to see me?"
That guy who holds the title but rarely ever shows his face? Why would someone with backing from Four-nine City want to see me?
Slumped over his desk, Qin Fan’s mind raced. Then, a corner of his mouth twitched.
He lifted his head, ignoring the Dean’s presence. Looking toward the classroom entrance, he said indifferently, "Lead the way."
To be treated with such an attitude by a student infuriated the Dean, who was used to throwing his weight around Qi Middle School. A furious rage burned within him, but he had no choice but to swallow his resentment.
Qin Fan, you just wait! You’d better hope you never fall into my hands! he roared silently in his heart.
With a darkened face, he said nothing and led the way out of the classroom.
Qin Fan shook his head with a disdainful sneer. Ignoring the peculiar glances from his classmates, he casually walked a few meters behind the Dean.
「The Principal’s Office.」
Even though the door was still closed, the moment the Dean reached it, he adopted the fawning posture of a lapdog. Bowing slightly out of habit, he knocked on the door.
"Principal, I’ve brought Qin Fan!" he called out, his voice oozing with sycophantic charm, a servile smile plastered on his face.
"Come in!" a somewhat authoritative voice boomed from inside.
After muttering a few sounds of acknowledgment, the Dean gently pushed the door open.
Before the Dean could even lift his head to show his subservience to the principal, Qin Fan strode inside.
Facing the principal, a man in his forties or fifties, he said bluntly, "Speak. Don’t waste my time."
"Qin Fan, how dare you!" the Dean shouted, no longer feeling the need for restraint inside the principal’s office.
Qin Fan couldn’t be bothered to respond to the Dean’s foolish posturing.
The principal’s expression, however, immediately darkened. Pointing toward the door, he berated the Dean in a low, stern voice, "What are you shouting about? Get out! Now!"
Though he hadn’t expected such an outcome, the Dean’s habit of bootlicking was so ingrained in his very bones that he recovered after only a brief moment of shock.
"Ah, yes, of course, Principal," he said with a nervous laugh. "I won’t disturb you any longer. I’ll see myself out!"
Ever the sycophant, he bowed respectfully, then turned and walked out briskly, making sure to close the door behind him.
"Mr. Qin, please have a seat! Would you like tea or coffee? The tea is authentic Dahongpao from Wuyi Mountain, and the coffee is Jamaican Blue Mountain. Which would you prefer?"
The principal didn’t sit in his large office chair. Instead, he remained standing and spoke to Qin Fan as an equal.
Oh? Mr. Qin? Interesting.
Reading a great deal into that short sentence, Qin Fan shook his head. "No, thank you. Get straight to the point. I don’t have time to discuss the meaning of life with you."
"Haha, good! You’ve got spirit! I feel fortunate that half a month ago, I pushed back against the pressure from the School Committee and the other school leaders and only gave you a two-week suspension," the principal laughed heartily.
"So I should be thanking you? Heh. Did you call me here just to tell me how fortunate you feel?" Qin Fan scoffed, his composure unwavering yet laced with a cold indifference that seemed out of place for someone his age.
"Haha, my apologies for that, Mr. Qin! It’s nothing important, really. I just wanted to get to know you. A few days ago, when you won over a billion in three hands at Mountain and Water Manor, I happened to be there. I witnessed your final all-in bet of over a hundred million! Mr. Qin, for someone your age to possess such boldness... that’s truly a once-in-a-century sight!" The principal’s words had become complimentary by the end. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
If any members of the School Committee or the other school leaders had seen this, their jaws would have hit the floor. The man who ran Qi Middle School like his own personal dictatorship was acting this way toward a teenager?
"The boldness to go all-in, you mean? Or the boldness that forced Ye Jizu to suffer in silence?" Qin Fan chuckled, his words laced with hidden meaning.
Since the principal had laid his cards on the table, Qin Fan saw no reason to hold back. He finally understood why this man had summoned him. It was nothing more than an attempt to forge a connection after being shaken by the events at Mountain and Water Manor.
"Haha, Mr. Qin, you truly are an extraordinary person! It seems I’ve been blind these past two years, failing to notice a True God right here on campus!" the principal laughed freely. He then added, "To win over a billion in just three hands at Mountain and Water Manor, and to do it in a way that left Master Jizu with no choice but to grit his teeth and accept it... Mr. Qin, you are definitely the first!"
His laughter subsided. Before Qin Fan could respond, the principal’s expression turned serious. "Mr. Qin, I don’t know how you did it, and I know it’s not my place to ask. I called you here for one reason and one reason only: I want to be your friend. I’m sure you know I have a background in Four-nine City, but if that so-called background were truly so impressive, would I be stuck in my forties here at Qi Middle School, just killing time?"
"Looking for a promotion? Sorry, I can’t help you," Qin Fan said. With a dismissive wave of his hand, he prepared to leave.
He detested this kind of social climbing to his very core. In this new life, he only wanted to enact his revenge and repay the kindness he was shown. After that, he would focus solely on his Cultivation. If he could just reach the Golden Core Stage, he would have a way to leave Earth for the Cultivation Sacred Land.
After five hundred years of training on the Cangqiong Continent, he had been just one step shy of becoming an Ascension Immortal; he couldn’t accept falling short. Therefore, in this life, he was determined to see what the so-called Immortal Realm was really like.
"Mr. Qin, wait, please! You’ve misunderstood me!" Seeing Qin Fan about to leave, the principal grew anxious. He hurried around his desk to block Qin Fan’s path and said with utmost sincerity, "I’m not particularly interested in promotions or wealth. I just want to return to Four-nine City and take back what is mine! That’s why I’ve spent all these years building connections. With you, I am sincere. I truly want to be your friend."
"Sorry, I’m not interested in your story, and I’m not interested in making friends. So, goodbye," Qin Fan replied with a faint, emotionless smile. Shaking his head, he walked coolly out the door.
Having suffered a past life of indescribable misery and endured five hundred years of a lonely cultivator’s path on the Cangqiong Continent, the reborn Qin Fan still couldn’t escape the shadows of his psychological burdens.
Aside from his parents, his "little sister" and her family, and his girlfriend from his past life, Jiang Yino, whom he had yet to meet in this timeline, he was utterly indifferent to the rest of the world.
Besides, as the Shura Venerable, he had no need to treat this world with warmth. By the cycle of the Heavenly Dao Reincarnation, he was destined to stand proudly at the pinnacle of this world and look down upon all creation.
Watching Qin Fan’s retreating figure, the principal subconsciously raised a hand. In the end, however, he didn’t call out to stop him. The result was somehow both expected and surprising. For a moment, he could only smile wryly.
「Meanwhile.」
Not long after dealing with Wang Zijun outside the classroom, Ye Haoyuan burst into Class Seven like a madman. The moment he learned that Qin Fan had been summoned by the principal, he took off in a frantic sprint without a second thought. This was all because of a sudden phone call from Ye Jizu.
