The Revenge of the Reborn Supreme Sovereign-Chapter 103 - 100: It Was Qin Fan!
「Jiangzhou Military Region General Hospital.」
In the ICU, Qiao Xiyuan was covered from head to toe in tubes. If not for the ECG machine confirming he still had vital signs, no one would believe the man lying there was still alive, given his appearance.
"Who on earth did this? It’s too cruel! They practically beat him half to death!"
"The assailant obviously didn’t want to kill him; they left him clinging to life. What kind of grudge would drive someone to beat a man so brutally and then leave him alive?"
"Have you heard? He’s a powerful Young Master—the grandson of Old Qiao, who just recently retired from our Jiangzhou Military Region! His father also held a high-ranking post in the military region before being transferred to the Magic City Garrison Area."
"What? He has a background like that? My god, even a Young Master of his caliber was tortured to this extent?"
"I heard there was a DV camera on a tripod at the scene that recorded the whole thing. Unfortunately, no one knows what’s on it. They’re all waiting for the big shots to arrive before handing it over!"
「Outside the ward.」
A few nurses were chatting in hushed tones, their eyes wide with shock. What they didn’t know was that Qiao Xiyuan was also a Sharp Knife Soldier from the Southwest Falcon special forces team. If they had, they would have been even more stunned.
As they spoke, a series of rapid footsteps echoed down the hall. Just then, Ye Jizu and several of Old Qiao’s former subordinates from the Jiangzhou Military Region approached, their expressions grim.
"Sirs!" the young nurses stammered, hastily saluting the arriving officers.
The men gave a slight nod.
Ye Jizu quickly gave an order. "Get the hospital director and the attending physician. Tell them Ye Jizu is here!"
With the air of a domineering CEO, he pushed open the ward door and strode inside. However, the sight of Qiao Xiyuan lying on the hospital bed left him utterly stunned.
This... What kind of ruthless attack was this?
Although Ye Jizu didn’t know the exact circumstances or the full extent of the injuries, a single glance was enough to tell him that Qiao Xiyuan had narrowly escaped death.
Behind Ye Jizu, a high-ranking military official who owed his career to Old Qiao clenched his fists. "Damn it! Who the hell did this!" he growled, furious at the scene before him.
"Investigate! We must launch a full-scale investigation, no matter what! Qiao Xiyuan is a special forces operative from the Southwest Falcon. For him to suffer such a vicious attack in our Jiangzhou is a clear provocation and a show of contempt for our local military and police! Damn them!" another senior officer snarled through gritted teeth.
"We must provide an explanation to the Southwest Military Region and Old Qiao for this! Otherwise, we’ll be utterly disgraced!" a colonel standing beside Ye Jizu said in a grave, somber tone.
Ye Jizu, in contrast, remained silent, his brow tightly furrowed. Qiao Xiyuan had a conflict with Qin Fan at the Ye Family residence, and this incident happened immediately after. He refused to believe for a second that this had nothing to do with Qin Fan.
With a deep frown, he turned and walked out without another word.
He had barely taken two steps when several middle-aged men quickly approached him.
"Fourth Master!" the man in the lead called out as soon as he saw Ye Jizu.
"Director Wang, come with me," Ye Jizu said in a low voice, continuing down the hall.
Puzzled, Director Wang waved at the men behind him before hurrying to follow Ye Jizu.
Ye Jizu entered an unoccupied VIP room. Standing with his back to Director Wang, who had followed him inside, he said, "Close the door."
The door clicked shut.
Director Wang, still confused, was the first to speak. "Fourth Master, what’s going on?"
"I heard you found a DV camera that was recording at the scene and brought it back. Is that correct?" Ye Jizu asked gravely, getting straight to the point.
"Yes," Director Wang replied truthfully, nodding. "Considering Young Master Qiao’s status, we didn’t hand it over to the police. We thought it best to wait for the military to arrive and let them handle it."
"Has anyone seen what’s on it?" Ye Jizu asked, rubbing his temples.
"No. Given the special circumstances, no one dared to watch it. That includes me."
"Where’s the camera? Give it to me," Ye Jizu demanded, taking a deep breath and fixing Director Wang with a look that brooked no refusal.
From the moment Ye Jizu had led him here and brought up the camera, Director Wang knew this was what the Fourth Master had come for. Considering Ye Jizu’s powerful background, Director Wang didn’t hesitate. He pulled the compact, telescopic DV camera from his pocket and handed it over. "My men said people from the military were here, so I brought it with me just in case."
"Mhm," Ye Jizu grunted softly. He took the DV camera, opened the viewer, and pressed play.
The recording, lasting over ten minutes, began with Qiao Xiyuan’s arrogant rant about his love being stolen, continued to the gunshots, and ended with Qin Fan’s casual departure. Ye Jizu silently watched the entire thing without missing a single frame.
After he finished, he pressed the delete button. WHOOSH! The video was instantly erased.
He then handed the camera back to Director Wang. "I’ve deleted the video. You can figure out how to explain that. Also, it’s best if you stay out of this. That’s my advice to you as an outsider."
Get involved? When immortals fight, little fish and shrimp like us can’t even get out of the way fast enough. How could we possibly dare to join the fray!
Director Wang hastily replied, "Fourth Master, even if you hadn’t said anything, I wouldn’t want to get involved. I’ll just tell the military personnel that the video file was corrupted. If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave. I still need to go to the ward and update them on Young Master Qiao’s condition."
"Yes, go on."
Ye Jizu waved him away. Left alone, he shook his head with a slow, helpless, and bitter smile before taking out his phone and dialing Ye Congjun’s number.
"What’s the situation?" Ye Congjun’s deep, resonant voice came through the phone.
"Grandfather, it’s just as we expected. Qin Fan did it," Ye Jizu said, shaking his head helplessly. "But that idiot Qiao Xiyuan brought it on himself."
"Hmm? What happened?" Ye Congjun asked, confused.
"It’s like this, Grandfather. There was a DV camera set up at the scene, which that idiot Qiao Xiyuan set up himself. His goal was to record himself brutally torturing Qin Fan to show Xiaoxuan. He wouldn’t have ended up half-dead, but he made the mistake of opening fire. He shot at Qin Fan six times, emptying his clip, which is why he’s in this state. For him to still be alive after firing six shots—the Qiao Family is incredibly lucky!" Ye Jizu explained with a sigh.
He vividly remembered what had happened to his own subordinate, Zhao Yuhao, after opening fire. To have survived after shooting at Qin Fan was a true stroke of incredible luck.
"Qiao Xiyuan was called the hope of the Qiao Family’s new generation. It seems that hope was rather disappointing. Alright, let’s not get too involved. Out of our old friendship and our duty as hosts, a small gesture is all that’s required. Since Qiao Xiyuan isn’t dead, we’ll let him decide whether to come clean to the Qiao Family once he wakes up."
After speaking, Ye Congjun hung up.
Ye Jizu just smiled, shook his head, and walked back toward Qiao Xiyuan’s intensive care unit.
