The Return Of the Invincible Heiress-Chapter 344
Chapter 344: Chapter 344
Joel said,
"Gavin has two sons who are older, while we have three kids. Our daughter is only eight, our son is just over two, and our baby is six months old. How could we fight them?
They’re just bullying us because we have more women and kids. After talking for so long, they only tossed us two houses. How outrageous!"Isla held their youngest son and looked resentful.
"When Gavin got married, the four elders gave all the family savings to him to buy a house. By the time we got married, there was nothing left.
Now they have eight houses and only give us two, treating us like beggars. It’s so unfair.
Maria, you have to get your adoptive parents to seek justice for us!"
Maria was clearly put off by Isla, who deliberately emphasized that Maria had been adopted by the Carter family.
Suppressing her distaste, Maria forced a concerned expression and said,
"Joel, even though my mom is still in the hospital, she felt it was unfair after hearing about your situation. She’s decided to give you that old house."
"Really?" Isla’s eyes widened in disbelief, sparkling with hope. "Is that really what your adoptive mother thinks? Can she actually stand up to her husband?"
"In our family, Mom’s the boss," Maria said with a smile. "Dad and my brothers always listen to her. However, there’s one issue."
Joel sat up in bed, his expression tense. "What issue?"
Maria explained, "To transfer the house, we need the property deed—but it’s with my grandfather.
"You know we’re not exactly close. If we ask him for it and he finds out we’re transferring the house to you, he’ll likely refuse."
Joel responded quickly, "That’s easy to handle. We’ll either steal it or convince him to hand it over."
Isla added, "Let’s visit Grandpa today and figure out a way to get that deed."
"Sorry to trouble you," Maria replied. "As long as we get the deed, we can go ahead with the paperwork right away."
The couple’s excitement made them forget their pain. They exclaimed, "Maria, please tell Claire we’ll definitely honor her kindness!"
Maria smiled but didn’t respond.
Later, when Arthur met with Gavin and his group, Gavin and his wife asked,
"When will your family take us to complete the transfer? We’ve got both the elderly and kids to care for. We need this done soon so we can finally rest."
Arthur replied sincerely, "We can go anytime. Do you have your ID and household registration?" freewebnoveℓ.com
Only then did Gavin and the others realize that both parties’ household registrations were required for the process. Before coming to Rosemont City, they hadn’t anticipated this.
"No problem!" Gavin said quickly. "I’ll take Hamza and go back to get ours now."
Ronan added, "We need ours too. It’s in a small wooden box inside our wardrobe upstairs."
Gavin grabbed his phone and bag. "I’ll head back with Hamza right away."
Arthur chuckled silently:
Go ahead and try.
He knew Gavin wouldn’t be able to retrieve it—Avery had already sent someone to steal both Gavin’s and Ronan’s household registrations.
Without those, even if the Carter family gave them a hundred houses, they wouldn’t be able to claim a single one.
After Gavin and Hamza left, Arthur took the remaining group out for lunch.
Following lunch, Ronan, already tired, was eager to return home for a nap.
Just then, his phone rang. It was Joel.
Joel cried, "Grandpa, I’m injured and need to stay in the hospital overnight. My wife has to take care of me, so she can’t look after the three kids. Can you come help us?"
Ronan replied, "I’m too old for this. I’ll send your mom and dad instead..."
"I don’t want them," Joel said bitterly. "They’re biased and don’t treat me like their own son. I don’t want to see them right now.
"If you won’t help either, our family might as well die out here."
"I’ll come," Ronan said quickly. "Grandma and I will head over. Just don’t do anything foolish."
Violet, too, was exhausted and didn’t want to go initially. But when she heard that Joel’s family was staying at a hotel—one with far better conditions than the Carter family’s old house—she changed her mind and asked Arthur to drive them over.
As soon as Joel heard his grandparents were coming, he smugly told Isla,
"I’ll go home to get the household registration. You hide for now, and once they fall asleep tonight, steal the deed."
Isla grinned like a thief. "Don’t worry. I’ll make sure we get that house."
Joel left.
Everything unfolded smoothly afterward.
Ronan and Violet arrived at the hotel and took care of the kids until evening, then fell asleep in the guest room.
While they slept soundly, Isla quietly slipped into their room, rummaged through their bags and pillows, and took the property deed.
The next morning, Isla went to the housing authority with the deed and met Maria, who was there to handle the paperwork on behalf of the Carter family.
Unfortunately, by the time Joel arrived with the household registration, the housing authority had already closed for the day. So, the three of them decided to have lunch nearby and wait in line for the office to reopen in the afternoon.
That afternoon, the place was packed.
Dozens of people were in line ahead of them, many dragging their feet and seeming unsure about what they were even doing there. Progress was slow. Joel and Isla were getting anxious.
"These people are so slow," Joel muttered. "Will we finish before closing time?"
Maria smiled. "We’re here now. We’ll get it done. No need to rush."
She held up her phone and said, "Today’s a special day—let’s take a commemorative photo!"
Feeling proud, Joel and Isla eagerly agreed. They posed with the property deed and their household registration while Maria took a photo.
What they didn’t know was that immediately after taking the picture, Maria posted it to Facebook with the caption:
"This afternoon, our family transferred the old house scheduled for demolition to my cousin. Congratulations to them on getting a house in Rosemont City—they’re residents now!"
She adjusted the privacy settings so only Gavin’s family could see the post.
When Gavin’s family saw it, they exploded with rage.
