Chapter 1059: Chapter 1059 Wanting A Boyfriend

Her joke eased the atmosphere. To set everyone at ease, Hera was the first to pick up her utensils and begin eating, making sure the others wouldn’t feel shy. After all, she was the one who had invited them, so it was only right that she led the way.

After the farce with Alice earlier, Hera almost lost her appetite; she didn’t feel like eating at all, as the incident had completely ruined her mood. But then she caught herself. If she let them dictate how she felt, wouldn’t that make her the loser? After all, she hadn’t done anything wrong, nor had she provoked them, so why punish herself by letting their actions control her?

More importantly, she was still on medication and had to stick to a strict meal schedule. Some of the dishes had even been prepared specifically for her, as the chef followed Zhane’s instructions over the phone during the ride.

He had insisted that, while they were celebrating Logan’s successful debut, Hera’s recovery must not be compromised. After all, she still had a movie to work on, and Zhane and Rafael would never allow her to lose her appetite over trivial matters.

Hera smiled faintly to herself. She didn’t need anyone to coax her; she had already come to that realization on her own. That sense of self-control felt reassuring.

As soon as Hera began eating, Zhane, as usual, scooped some bird’s nest soup into a bowl and placed it in front of her, while Rafael quietly instructed the pavilion’s staff to arrange all the herbal dishes within easy reach, ensuring nothing was misplaced or mistaken. Then he carefully picked up a piece of steamed bass wrapped in herbs, checked for bones, and gently fed it to Hera.

Hera, accustomed to these intimate actions, instinctively opened her mouth to accept the food from Rafael, completely forgetting the crowd around them. Only when she became aware of onlookers did she pause, but by then, it was too late.

Everyone’s eyes were on the three of them, and from the way they moved together, it was obvious this was entirely normal. The onlookers, feeling almost as if they’d been force-fed dog food by this seamless trio, didn’t know what to say.

Athena cleared her throat. "Ehem! Let’s all eat too, the food looks delicious... though, well, handsome men look delicious as well." She joked, tossing Zen a playful, flirtatious glance.

Zen, caught off guard and put on the spot, felt his face heat up instantly, turning bright red. Everyone else’s eyes followed Athena to him, and seeing him so shy, they couldn’t help but laugh softly. No one expected that the seemingly confident, playboy-looking young man would be so innocent and easily flustered when teased.

After a moment, the group, after getting accustomed to Hera and others’ closeness, brushed it off as just the normal intimacy of young people in love. Meanwhile, Liz, sitting beside Bry, began serving him some food since he was too short to reach anything on the table. Bry’s face lit up with a wide smile, grateful for her help.

"Oh! This is so beautiful and delicious!" Bry exclaimed loudly, smacking his lips with his hand in sheer delight, his eyes crinkling with joy. He couldn’t believe how good the food tasted.

"If you like it, eat more... here," Liz said warmly, like a big sister, happily piling more onto his plate. She had expected that after the earlier confrontation, Bry might be too shaken to eat, but seeing him enjoy his meal so carefreely put her completely at ease. At the same time, she felt a little embarrassed; here was someone nearly a decade younger than her, yet he had stronger mental fortitude than her and was unaffected by the earlier event.

But for Bry, growing up in the countryside meant enduring whatever harsh words mothers threw around, which was usually unfiltered, brutal, and unrelenting. Compared to that, Alice’s little performance was nothing more than a beginner trying to stir up trouble. Bry barely cared about it; his attention was fully captured by the delicious food before him.

Liz glanced at Athena and Zen, who looked like such a perfect couple, and then at Hera with her two lovers. A pang of loneliness tugged at her, she wanted a boyfriend, too. Just then, an image of someone flashed in her mind, making her heartbeat skip.

After piling a little mountain of food onto Bry’s plate, enough to keep him busy for a while, she slipped out her phone. As everyone else laughed and chatted around her, she quietly sent a text message, her thoughts elsewhere.

...

[Liz: Good evening, Mr. Wickman...]

[Liz: I hope I’m not disturbing you at this hour?]

[Larry: Good evening, Miss Goldsmith. Not at all, anything I can help you with?]

[Larry: Don’t worry, I’m just working out now, so you’re not disturbing me.]

[Liz: Right...]

[Liz: Actually, I reached out because I wanted to see if you might have some time this week.]

[Larry: May I ask what it’s regarding?]

[Liz: Well, I’m sure Hera may have mentioned that we’re planning to start a joint business. I’ll be writing the contract since my family will be the major provider of the raw materials...]

[Liz: I was hoping you could help me review the contract I’ve drafted, since this is my first time handling such a big deal without my father’s guidance.]

[Larry: Of course. Just let me know the time and place, and I’ll be there.]

[Larry: If you already have a draft ready, I can take a look beforehand. That way, if any edits are needed, we can make the changes together before sending it to Young Miss.]

[Liz: Together... yes.]

...

After just exchanging a few messages with Larry, Liz couldn’t help but imagine his handsome, stoic expression, so professional, so career-driven, and yet, she felt inexplicably drawn to him. This wasn’t the first time they had interacted; Hera had long ago introduced them, as Larry had worked with her on a previous discussion of a contract as Hera’s personal lawyer.

They had already discussed parts of the collaboration contract before, but Liz needed to confirm that they had the capacity to supply Hera with the raw materials. She didn’t want to promise anything she couldn’t deliver.

Their earlier contract review had covered only certain sections, leaving the rest unresolved, and now Liz had to ensure everything was in order. On top of that, she had managed to get Larry to accept her follow request on Instagram, a small, playful victory that made her feel she was glimpsing a side of him far different from his professional side.

For this little maiden who had rarely ventured beyond her sheltered world, Larry’s composed, businesslike exterior seemed almost at odds with the possibility of a personal, softer side.

Why? Because after seeing Larry’s Instagram, Liz couldn’t get him out of her mind. His feed was full of gym photos showcasing his pecs and abs on display, and shots of him casually walking around his high-end condominium in just grey sweatpants, exuding a raw, wild kind of handsomeness.

And yet, when he was in his suit, he looked stoic, respectable, and impeccably controlled. He was the perfect balance of temptation and restraint, and Liz found herself irresistibly drawn to this captivating lawyer.

So when Liz thought about wanting a boyfriend, Larry was the first person to come to mind, and she just couldn’t shake the thought. She remembered that most of the people following Larry on Instagram were lawyers, men from the business world who had collaborated with him before, or friends.

Only a handful of women followed him, and since his account was private, not just anyone could see his posts. This actually reassured Liz.

How did she know this? Well, women can be surprisingly thorough detectives when they really want to know something. She went into full "stalker mode," checking everyone Larry followed. With only a few thousand followers, all professionally connected, it was easy to see that Larry was single.

Passionate about his career, he seemed to view women not as potential romantic partners but as prospects for business collaborations. In short, he treated them no differently than any male colleague.

Liz knew it wouldn’t be easy to get Larry to notice her, so she decided to take it slow, reach out first, get to know him, and gently let her way into his life before making any bold moves. After all, she now had some good examples to follow.

Athena had shown her how being proactive could work. By going after Zen and telling everyone about it, she proved that bold moves often beat the conservative "follow-the-rules" advice you read online. You know, the usual clichés about winning a man’s heart through his stomach, advice that usually left women being treated like maids. But look at Athena: now she was completely lovey-dovey with Zen.

Then there was Hera, who took a similar no-nonsense approach and somehow managed to catch six, almost seven lovers. Seeing how these examples worked in real life made Liz feel more confident about finding her own path.
