The Retired CEO's Guide To Being Spoiled-Chapter 235: The Compensation Date
Ethan Caldwell laughed out loud, the deep, warm sound resonating within his chest: "You are worrying too far ahead. Rest assured, even if I transferred double that amount, Caldwell Empire would still operate perfectly normally, and I would still have more than enough money left over to provide for you to live comfortably for the rest of your life."
Hearing that, Julian also could not help but let out a soft giggle. In truth, he mostly just wanted to make a joke to tease Ethan Caldwell a little bit. As the dignified legal heir of such a massive and supremely powerful family, managing an absolutely colossal fortune, how could extracting a small portion of dividend money for Julian possibly reduce Ethan to poverty? Julian carelessly rolled around a few times in the man’s embrace, searching for the most comfortable position. Pondering for a moment, seeing that Ethan Caldwell merely remained silent, patiently allowing him to mess around without any intention of leaving the bed, Julian could not help but look up curiously and ask a question: "Are you truly not planning to go to work today? Normally by this hour, you would have already had to be at the company, so why are you still lazing around here in bed with me?"
"I already sent a message to inform Helen Lloyd that I would be postponing all the meetings and taking the morning off." Ethan Caldwell replied casually, his hand still gently patting Julian’s back: "And what about you? Do you have any special schedule today or any appointments to go out with anyone?"
Julian bit his lip lightly, thinking for a moment, reviewing the plans in his head before slowly shaking his head. The truth was that he had initially planned to invite Lucas Hill out to a coffee shop for a meeting, making it convenient to inquire about the current progress of their recent plans and see how things were ultimately unfolding. However, after going through everything that had happened lately, his mind was temporarily filled with too much chaotic information that required him to calm down and clearly organize everything. Therefore, Julian decided that today, he would reward himself with a proper day of genuine rest, allowing himself to relax his mind for a bit. At the same time, he would also conveniently use this free time to draft a detailed, comprehensive plan for the upcoming period, especially regarding his focus on painting.
Seeing him shake his head, Ethan Caldwell’s eyes lit up slightly, and he put forth a suggestion: "Then if you are free, why do you not change your clothes and take a stroll through the shopping mall with me today?"
The moment Ethan Caldwell finished speaking, he immediately received a gaze filled with sheer disdain from Julian: "What did you just say? Going to the shopping mall? Do you think you are some teenage girl who loves going shopping? Or are you just starting to practice how to be in a romantic relationship? I saw people on the internet saying that only those who severely lack experience like to drag their lovers around a shopping mall just to kill time. Listening to this motif, it sounds exactly identical to those domineering CEO television drama scripts where they relentlessly shop until they drop for their little lovers, Ethan Caldwell."
"What kind of nonsensical scripts are you making up in that head of yours again?" Ethan Caldwell did not know whether to laugh or cry. He reached out and lightly flicked Julian’s smooth forehead as a form of punishment: "I am inviting you out not for some useless, idle stroll. Last night, when I was helping you unpack your backpack from school, I accidentally saw that the tablet you use for drawing was already broken."
As for the specific details regarding the exact reason why that device had been damaged to such a severe extent, there was truly no need to bring it up ever again to avoid ruining the mood. Julian mistakenly thought that the man in front of him was assuming he felt regret over spending a little money to buy a new tablet, which was why Ethan had taken the effort to bring that completely ruined item back home. Julian hastily spoke up to explain himself. "Do not misunderstand, it is not that I am being stingy with money. It is just that I felt entirely regretful about the painstaking effort you put into carefully selecting it for me, which is why I stubbornly brought it back. If an object is broken, then so be it, it is perfectly fine. Whenever I have some free time, I can just go out to the electronics store by myself and buy another one to use temporarily."
In reality, compared to their immense wealth, that drawing tablet was not some overly expensive or incredibly rare and hard-to-find piece of machinery. However, it carried a tremendously significant sentimental value because it had cost Ethan Caldwell quite a bit of time to personally research and select it. Originally, Julian already had a much more expensive and high-end device readily available at home, but he simply did not want to bring such a costly machine to school every single day and unnecessarily attract attention.
After all, in his fine arts department, students truly did not need to use overly fancy items equipped with dozens of overwhelmingly complex functions. For artists, the primary requirements were simply that the pen touch response had to be exceptionally sharp, the pressure sensitivity had to be excellent, and the screen needed a high resolution to maximally serve the purpose of digital illustration. Thoroughly understanding that, despite being a dignified chairman burdened with hundreds and thousands of tasks, Ethan Caldwell still personally dedicated an entire free afternoon in his office solely to scour the internet, read reviews, and carefully compare several different tablet models with one another. All of this was done just to ensure that the item he purchased would not look excessively ostentatious when brought to the campus, while also remaining completely perfectly suited for Julian’s studies and artistic creation.
"I know, buying another identical one will do. We can conveniently buy some new art supplies for you while we are at it."
The moment art supplies were mentioned, Julian suddenly recalled the events of yesterday, and the tips of his ears turned a rosy shade of pink: "I still have plenty of them left."
"Did you not say that you wanted to defeat Vince Sutton? If so, then you will have to spend a considerable amount of time practicing. Let us just go, if you happen to see anything that catches your eye, we will buy it."
That sounded truly impulsive.
"What is wrong with you today, persistently insisting on dragging me outside?"
"It is simply compensation." Ethan Caldwell gently stroked Julian’s tousled hair: "Are you not planning to continue performing yesterday’s play anymore?"
