[HAWI]

"You’re not listening, Hawi. Rukiya made her choice on her own. There’s no push for me or the fates. It was her decision and we were all blindsided, just like you and the knights were," Islinda insisted sincerely.

She could see the frustration on Hawi’s face and the way that the woman was not ready for that side of her reality and frankly, she couldn’t be blamed for it. She had loved Rukiya with a love so pure and genuine so it just didn’t make any sense.

"Why would she do that? I loved her so much. Why would she break my heart like that?" Hawi asked and Islinda felt terrible for her. It was the first time she was up close with the broken Sicario girl and she was worried for her.

This wasn’t the way Islinda had hoped Hawi’s destiny would turn out, but Hawi wasn’t exactly been the normal type of girl so there had been a lot of twists and turns along the way, but now more than how heartbreaking this had to get first for her.

"She did it out of love. She cared for you more than I had ever thought possible. Let’s be honest, Hawi. You’re not exactly the most stable person in the realm let alone the most fixed of them all. You’re broken and unlovable, yet your team loves you. Explore hidden tales at novelbuddy

"Rukiya loved you more than her own life. I could keep telling you what you want to do, or we could get back to why you are here when you should be with Rukiya in Hernia," Islinda said and Hawi stared intently.

This woman was confusing the fuck out of her but listening to her say that it was Ruru in Hernia did something to her heart. It was almost like she was filled with hope and love for what was to come.

"What are you talking about?" Hawi asked.

"The only one powerful enough to sit on your seat could only ever be your mate. And not some doppelganger I wanted to force on the realm, Hawi. The girl who ruins the kingdom right now, is the same girl you loved with all of you.

"The one you still love despite the time that has passed. You were right about everything. I had to force her insomnia to make sure that he didn’t run back to Sicario and be with the wild team.

"I needed to see what potential she could have and whether she could function if you were away. I needed to know that you could rely on her if you were tired. I have no regrets for what I did and if I were to make the same choice;

"... I would without missing a beat," Islinda said and Hawi sighed. There had to be something fundamentally wrong with this woman to be playing such kinds of sick games with her. What the fuck was her end goal on this end?

What the hell was he hoping for from a girl who was amnesiac or even a bond that was so explosive everyone had long learned to keep their distance? Perhaps she had to see it from a different perspective. And even so, what would that ever be like?

"So, you did it… for me? You made my mate suffer. For me? You took the one thing that kept me sane for years… for me? Is that what you are saying? That I am the reason my mate suffered all these years? What the fuck is wrong with you?!" Hawi bellowed in disbelief.

She had been so certain that the moon goddess was a bitch but damn this woman was on the greater scale of insanity. She was cruel, a little too cruel for a woman who is supposed to make things better and Hawi hated her for it.

She had ruined her life and taken her mate and now she was proud of it. This was the kind of emptiness that Hawi aspired to never get to. The woman was only transacting what she thought was best and Hawi would never forgive her for that no martyr the outcome.

"Yes. I did it for you and… her," Islinda said and Hawi was about to curse her out before she felt herself lose her balance completely. There had to be something else at play, right? This was not okay, this would never be okay, but what if?

"Her? You don’t mean Ruru… do you?" Hawi asked in a low whisper.

"No… I mean… Her," Islinda said as she showed a vision that scared the living daylights out of Hawi, if that was even possible. There was no way that this was real and the moon goddess was messing with her. There was just no way.

"Impossible," Hawi whimpered as she stared at the vision, at the sight that was bright so close to her, the sight so close and yet so distant. It was almost like there was a lot that needed to be done because she was here, but what the fuck, right?

"This is not funny, okay? You don’t get to conjure shit like that and try to make me believe it. You are cruel and you don’t deserve the title you have. I wish you the worst of all time, from the darkest pits of my hell of a heart," Hawi forced out.

She wanted to say no, even though her eyes were still focused on the sight that the goddess was showing her. It was an impossible one, one that she refused to agree to, but at the same time, it was a little too heartwarming and scary for her through and through.

This wasn’t how life was supposed to be for her and she despised that possibility. The goddess had to be playing some sick games with Hawi, but why did Hawi feel drawn to it then?

Why did she feel like everything was perfect at the moment and that there was nothing that could fuck this up for her without her having to put up a fight that she would certainly win for… Her?

"Cut the crap, Hawi. I didn’t bring you here to waste your time. She exists. She is what you didn’t imagine, so I assume that is the source of the shock, but she is there for you and her. For what you had wished for. What Rukiya had wished for," Islinda said casually.

Then again, she was talking about another life here, a life that was never supposed to exist in the first palace. This was not possible and Hawi was bound to deny it, but damn the fats and the fucking moon goddess for throwing her in the middle like that.

"I could have known. I was there with her. I could have felt it. I would have done everything to protect her. I would have burned your precious realm for her. I would have turned it all upside down just to make sure she was safe," Hawi said and the goddess stared at her amusedly.

It was like Hawi was answering the questions herself and it was an interesting sight for her. She couldn’t be blamed though because Awuor Hawi was rarely ever hacked by anyone or anything. She was always on time, always in control but this was the one she couldn’t.

"She is why Ruru sacrificed herself to save you from yourself. And now, you have to save them from the rogue protectors, or lose them along with the entire realm. The choice is yours," Islinda said calmly.
