The Red Dragon Just Wants To Do As It Pleases-Chapter 513 - 307: Chosen of God (Part 2)
Who would have thought that at this age, his own academy faction, which had always been ostracized, would be called upon in a time of crisis.
Upon this thought, Menekver, who had always managed to just scrape by, took a deep breath and made a decision.
"Your Majesty, perhaps I could..."
But before he could finish his thought, Arasya interrupted and rejected him, "You cannot replace me.
"Neither you nor I possess David Uthos’s ability to deceive the gods with illusions so convincingly.
"And we all know that he is a greedy Red Dragon.
"The kind that doesn’t act without a clear advantage.
"And yet, the initiative to wage war rests in his hands.
"Therefore, this time, it must be I who goes.
"And it can only be me."
A look of pain and indecision crossed Menekver’s face for the first time. "Your Majesty..." He seemed to already foresee such an ending.
"There’s no need for further words, Lord Menekver.
"This is the best choice.
"Since the decline of Elven prosperity, the Elves of all planes have been in disarray. Even the gods themselves are at a loss.
"Only by letting them witness the threat from the Dragons with their own eyes can they possibly begin to confront our current situation and reignite their determination to fight the Dragons as they did in the past.
"And to truly unite and stand as one, slogans and bloodshed are insufficient. There must also be sufficient benefit.
"So, let me offer up my position as a descendant of the Yugeni Moonbow royal family. The title of Elf King on the Prime Material Plane—that should be enticing enough for them, shouldn’t it?
"As for me? If my ancestors could lure Bahamut, the Platinum Dragon God, to The Slaying King Star by sacrificing themselves...
"Then as a descendant of the Moonbow, I too can do the same.
"Let me, Arasya, restore the long-dimmed radiance of the Yugeni Moonbow."
Finally, Menekver stopped. No longer speaking, he knelt on one knee on the red carpet before the Elf Queen’s silhouette, paying homage to his true Elf King.
"Your Majesty Arasya... may your journey be ever prosperous."
At the same time, a sense of disgust welled up in his heart. Disgust for himself, forever calculating every gain and loss. Even disgust for the High Elves, his own kin. Did such a race deserve such a Queen, and her sacrifice?
But the Elf Queen left without looking back, treading the path that belonged only to her.
Only the night wind carried her sigh, tinged with sadness, "Tell Aria.
"Her sister will always love her...
"But having chosen this path, I can only protect her in this cruel way, with the Moon Goddess taking my place.
"In these terrible times.
"To continue guarding her."
ROAR!!!!!
In reality, the Elf Queen on the platform gazed up at the Red Lotus Dragon roaring as it lunged towards her, calmly confronting her own destiny.
She drew her sword and slashed towards the heavens.
CRACK.
The sword shattered, and her life was extinguished.
Simultaneously, to prevent any possibility of her resurrection, David used a Soul Prism—which his claw-tip had already prepared for Yevgeny’s soul—to seal her spirit within. Then, without hesitation, he directly sacrificed it to his mother, Pafila.
With this grave threat eliminated, David’s Fusion Dragon Breath finally detonated in the heart of Dewensen.
Within a 300-meter radius, it was instantly transformed into a scorching inferno.
Within a one-kilometer radius, all buildings crumbled into pieces.
Within a three-kilometer radius, it was as if an earthquake and typhoon had passed through simultaneously.
However, this was the utmost limit of David’s control over his Fusion Breath’s power.
And as the firelight faded, just as David had anticipated, many living beings had indeed survived.
After David and his mother, Pafila, became widely known across the planes, the demand for magical amulets providing "Flame Protection" had skyrocketed.
So much so that after David’s Dragon Breath, on the far edges of the explosion, a few Elven Nobles and envoys had miraculously survived.
However, most were like terrified birds, bleeding from all seven orifices, their faces aghast, watching in utter disbelief as the Red Dragon suddenly appeared and began to slaughter everyone in its path.
"Red Lotus Nova!"
"It’s the Second Red Calamity!"
For a moment, the High Elves who had survived thanks to their Flame Protection accessories began to scatter and flee.
David, unwilling to let such easy prey escape, flared his six wings, and their Celestial Engines began to glow crimson.
But just as David was about to take flight and transform into the Red Lotus Nova, a harbinger of calamity—
"Magic Enigma Lock—Air Ban!"
Accompanied by Menekver’s words, which resonated like an irrefutable edict, the power of flight was stripped from the skies above Dewensen.
As a result, David had barely lifted off the ground when an immense force dragged him back down, as if by the planet’s core.
He had no choice but to move like a colossal crimson feline, pouncing on and slaughtering every visible prey.
As David rampaged before the royal city of Dewensen, Menekver watched, his expression a mixture of awe and admiration for the dragon who had made his entrance in such an unthinkable way.
Amidst the terrified gazes of the Elves, he raised his hand towards David and proclaimed, "Before your eyes stands the enemy of our Elves!
"Red Lotus Nova, the Second Red Calamity!
"David Uthos Sed Ponga!
"By order of Arasya, Queen of Dewensen’s Elves!
"High Elves, we formally declare war on the Dragons!"
Then, he muttered in a voice only he could hear, "Do not let Her Majesty Arasya’s passionate sacrifice be in vain."
「At the same time」
Far away, Aria, the Chosen of the Moon Goddess, who was being carried away by Leopold, Chosen of The Wandering God, realized something through the nearly blinding radiance. She suddenly broke free from Leopold, letting out a heart-wrenching, anguished cry, "Sister Arasya!!!"
The next moment, a pillar of divine power, representing the Moon Goddess, Sahani Moonbow, descended.
The Moon Goddess had descended.
The human light in Aria’s eyes dimmed, replaced by the detached indifference characteristic of a god.
Then, one after another, pillars of divine light, channels for the Elven gods’ power, began to manifest in the night sky.
"No..." It was just as Leopold had expected. The war, ignited by David’s arrival in his true form, had, with its sheer scale, immediately drawn the attention of the Elven gods. Yet, it was not quite as he had imagined. A scene he had been unable to witness, having died prematurely at David’s hands two years prior, now replayed before him in a similar fashion.
Just as a faint but firm crimson divine force fell towards David, it was intercepted by a column of green divine light.
"My god..."
Corellon, the chief Elven god, had personally intervened.
A battle of divine avatars erupted prematurely in the outer planes.
Then came a shaft of black divine power.
"The Spider Goddess..."
Rose, who had been watching Corellon intently, unsurprisingly intervened as well.
Instantly, a three-way confrontation of divine power dominated the overcast sky.
"How is this possible..." This almost overturned Leopold’s understanding. How could a minor deity, who had ignited their divine spark and ascended less than twenty years ago, possibly contend with greater gods? But even as he realized this terrifying fact, there was no room for regret. Having chosen to betray The Wandering God for his family, he had no choice but to see this dark path through to its end.
Meanwhile, David watched Aria—who had left and now returned utterly transformed—with a look of pity.
"Sorry, Aria.
"Endure it for a moment.
"It might hurt just a tad."
"Authority: Pride!"
As memories of her year-long imprisonment by David flooded the mortal vessel, Sahani, the Moon Goddess, seemed to experience firsthand, through her follower, over four hundred days of the dragon’s taming and humiliation.
In that instant, Aria—who had materialized in mid-air before David, drawing an ethereal, moon-like blade to strike at his neck—froze, her gaze turning vacant.
David snatched her out of the air, gripping her in his claw.
Before the eyes of countless Elves, he tightened his grip.
A sickening CRUNCH of shattering bone echoed. Blood erupted like geysers from the upper and lower body of the Moon Goddess’s avatar, showering down as a crimson rain.
