The Red Dragon Just Wants To Do As It Pleases-Chapter 501 - 299: The Red Dragon’s Revenge
「Two years after the battle at Montero Coast.」
「Dewensen, Golden Oak Avenue.」
This was once the family residence of David. It was set ablaze by a Dragon Breath just before his departure. Due to some sort of taboo, the Elves deliberately razed the ruins to the ground and built a plaza to commemorate this disgrace.
Following the disastrous defeat at Montero Coast, a group began to center their activities here. It consisted mainly of victims’ families and Elven merchants who had suffered losses due to the increasing threat of the Blue Dragon Pirates. They repeatedly staged sit-in protests and openly advocated the ’Dragon Threat Theory’.
They hoped to draw more Elves’ attention to this terrible threat from the Old Continent.
Only by making more Elves, especially the Noble Elves, aware of this, and by continuously pressing Her Majesty the Queen, could there be a chance to launch a war of revenge against the Dragons again.
"Dead Dragons are good Dragons!!!"
"YEAH!!!"
Aria carried a bag of bread as she walked down the street. She was a Chosen of the Moon Goddess, once crowned as the Star Singer. Listening to the crowd’s inexplicable fervor, fueled by the hysterical proclamations of a Bard-turned-Noble politician on stage, she could only shake her head in pity.
Foolish.
If a full-fledged war against the Dragons were indeed to happen, these ordinary Elves who only knew to wave banners and chant in the streets would amount to nothing but ashes under Dragon Breath, not even worthy to be cannon fodder.
As she thought about it, the menacing figure of the Red Dragon once again emerged in her mind, immediately causing a severe headache.
A series of fragmented and unclear images that had always appeared in dreams and moments of distraction over the past two years seemed to burst forth from her brain, causing Aria to groan as she clutched her forehead.
"AH..."
"Aria, are you ill again?" Elizabeth, by her side, quickly supported her, asking with concern.
This had become a chronic condition for her friend.
Ever since being rescued from the Dragon’s clutches during the battle at Montero Coast two years earlier, Aria frequently suffered from these sudden and stubborn headaches.
Especially when she heard the words ’Dragon,’ ’Red Dragon,’ or that name now taboo among Elves—Red Lotus Nova, David Uthos.
David Uthos. Whenever she thought of that name, Elizabeth felt an inexplicable sense of emotion.
Back then, due to her mother Mirillian’s close friendship with the Silver Dragon Attilicia, she had even been formally introduced to that entity, who was at that time masquerading as the Silver Dragon ’Saphistouin.’
If it hadn’t been for David’s arrogance and rudeness at the time, which hurt her, she might even have become his wife...
When Elizabeth thought of that Red Dragon David, her heart filled with an indescribable sadness and tremor.
She was different from all other Elves. Her feelings towards David were far more complex.
She could say she was an unfortunate Elf whose destiny was directly altered because of that Red Dragon.
If it weren’t for David, her mother wouldn’t have been subjected to the suspicion and exclusion of the Royal Court, causing her, as her daughter, to be sent to Dewensen as a hostage, thus becoming a bird in a cage.
But at the same time, if it weren’t for David, her mother would very likely have died in that Royal banquet trying to prove her innocence.
It was also because of these reasons that Elizabeth knew from an early age that David Uthos was not as purely evil as the Elves now publicly proclaimed.
At least when David masqueraded as the Silver Dragon ’Saphistouin,’ he was a true alchemical genius—erudite, wise, much liked by her mother, and had even saved her hometown, the Saeolus territory, from a Barbarian invasion at one point.
Upon returning to the Old Continent, he also established the Redscale trading fleet, which redivided sea power, and with one swipe of his claw, even created the world-renowned marvel of Montero City.
Of course, in Elizabeth’s eyes, David wasn’t exactly a good Dragon either.
Otherwise, her mother Mirillian wouldn’t have been feared and ostracized by the Royal Court Nobles to this day.
And she wouldn’t have had to stay in Dewensen as a pitiful hostage.
Heaven help her, eighteen years had passed. She had almost forgotten what Saeolus looked like when the maple leaves were in full bloom.
However, these eighteen years of life in exile had their gains for her too.
For instance, friendship.
Being friends with the young legend, the Star Singer Aria, was something she could never have imagined in the past.
She remembered when she first saw Aria at the Royal Court; she was the Noble and somewhat arrogant Chosen of the Moon Goddess standing beside the Elf Queen Arasya.
But since going missing on the front lines three years ago, and after being rescued during the Montero Coast battle two years prior and awakening, it was as if she had become an entirely different Elf.
She became silent, simple, humble, and sometimes even a bit taciturn.
Perhaps it was for this reason that two Elves of such previously disparate status were able to become friends.
No one could probably understand the significant change in Aria’s disposition better than Elizabeth, who had also experienced life-altering events.
She had heard that to rescue Aria, a Chosen of the Moon Goddess, Dewensen had secretly dispatched the courtly Moonshadow Mage group and the Gloomy Lyre squad, all of whom were wiped out...
Leopold, the Chosen of The Wandering God, died in battle.
And Vileili and Bradimir, the two well-known legends favored by the gods of Fate, History, and the Forest, had their very souls extinguished on the spot.
If I had experienced all this, I probably would have been crushed by the overwhelming guilt and self-reproach under that constant public condemnation, wouldn’t I?
Fortunately, as always, Aria soon recovered from her persistent headache. She managed to squeeze out a pale smile and said, "I’m fine, it’s just the old ailment."
"Should I take you back to the Royal Court?" Elizabeth asked.
"No need, I have a date to attend."
As she spoke, before Elizabeth could even show her envy, Aria pointed a raised arm towards the street corner. A tall Elf with long silver hair was leaning against the wall, arms folded, seemingly already growing a bit impatient.
"Look, Saphiros is already waiting for me, so today, I won’t be able to join you for dinner."
"Hmph, I’m not even eager for it. Just take it easy, and don’t end up unable to get out of bed like last time, having to use Magic Communication to call me over to help you," Elizabeth said, turning her head away as if she felt a bit guilty.
Aria’s face turned bright red from Elizabeth’s teasing, but she wasn’t offended and instead retorted, "Instead of belittling me, you should find a boyfriend too. Believe me, true love can heal everything. Look at me now, don’t I seem much better? Hmm?"
Upon hearing these words, Elizabeth immediately felt a sense of desolation.
After all, I’m just a hostage of Dewensen. In such a situation, unable to even speak of freedom, what right do I have to seek true love?
However, she didn’t want to dampen her friend’s spirits. She forced a smile and, pushing Aria’s back, said, "Go on then, hurry off to your secret rendezvous with your man, and don’t come teasing me."
But as she watched Aria rush over, affectionately hooking her arm around his and coquettishly apologizing, the male Elf still did not show a welcoming face. Elizabeth’s expression turned to one of worry and pity.
She wasn’t sure if it was because she felt Aria’s choice was unwise, or something else.
She always had a strange, familiar feeling and an inexplicable flutter in her heart regarding that boyfriend named Saphiros.
Yet, for the life of her, she could not figure out why.
She had even thought for a moment that she had fallen in love with Aria’s boyfriend at first sight, which nearly scared her to death.
But after brief interactions, once she noticed how hot and cold he was towards Aria, she was reassured.
I’d have to be blind to fall for such a fickle person.
It was just a shame for Aria.
Elizabeth found it somewhat incomprehensible that Aria, born into such prestige and with so many favorable conditions, would fall so deeply for such a hot-tempered, unreasonable Wanderer.
And even more inexplicably, she was deeply in love.
After the two Elves disappeared into a cheap tavern, Elizabeth finally muttered, "Anyway, I can’t manage this masochist anymore. She made her choice." She then turned and headed back to her own residence.
「The Sword and Bauhinia Tavern, second floor.」
Hearing the sounds of spanking and moaning, guests on the same floor exchanged glances and then, with a knowing smile, thought to themselves, That promiscuous princess is out frolicking with her wild man again.
「The next morning.」
After a night of stormy torment, Aria lay sprawled on the bed, her body covered in whip marks. Still reeling from the night’s exertions, she struggled to gather her senses.
As she watched Saphiros get dressed and prepare to leave her side, she opened her mouth, wanting to muster the courage to ask him to stay a little longer. But in the end, she fell silent again, watching his retreating figure and giving a despondent smile.
Because she knew the outcome.
Sometimes, she even felt he didn’t love her.
He simply vented something on her body. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Otherwise, why would he only be willing to use her mouth and her behind...
In fact, she once wanted to have a child with him and enter the halls of matrimony.
But her repeated requests had been mercilessly rejected by him.
Saphiros apparently didn’t want to conceive a child with her, a fruit of their love.
This caused Aria much heartache.
Yet for some reason, she felt that she couldn’t part from him.
It was as if only by immersing herself in that familiar yet alien scenario of release could she momentarily escape the shadow of the Battle of Montero Coast.
Only when he brutally pinned her beneath him, inflicting pain upon her body, could she feel she was atoning for her sins.
The thought brought a surge of fragmented memories to her mind, causing a splitting headache.
This made her long even more to return to Saphiros’s embrace.
As if that were the only harbor where she could find respite from the storm. Maybe, this is the fate I deserve...
While Aria wallowed in self-pity in her room, she was unaware that her supposed man of destiny was at the port, meeting in secret with another High Elf woman.
Even this woman couldn’t help but feel pitying sympathy for Aria’s plight. She remarked, "She’s truly pitiable, like a puppet you manipulate and trample at your leisure."
’Saphiros’ just gave a disdainful and fierce smile and said, "It’s already been decided on the Elves’ side. On the night of the next full moon, they will gather at Golden Oak Plaza to welcome representatives from the Elven clans of Toriel and other planes. They’ll be discussing how to align with the arrival of The Slaying King Star to completely exterminate us Dragons. I hope that when she, carrying the will of the Moon Goddess and armed with The Slaying King Star, unleashes Dragon Phrenzy upon Dragon Island, leading an army to raise the sword against us, you will still maintain this sympathetic heart, my Princess Alicia."
"So, it has inevitably come to this?"
Faced with this cruel intelligence, which David had obtained by disguising himself as a High Elf to infiltrate Dewensen, Alicia could only let out a sigh that disappeared into the cold wind.
