The Red Dragon Just Wants To Do As It Pleases-Chapter 496 - 297: I Am Legend
"Stop gawking and get to work."
With his jaw still agape from Pafila’s single glance of divine rejection, David tossed the stunned Blue Dragon Brule with a flick of his claw towards the fortress’s empty ’charging port’; simultaneously, as if ascending a throne of power, he himself merged into the Fusion Energy Core.
"Right away, Boss! I’m on it!"
Brule complied instantly.
Having just suffered a beating at the hands of both Elves and Giants, he deeply appreciated being in an era so turbulent and unpredictable. Having such a powerful figure to rely on was great. Of course, it’d be even better if that figure was a bit gentler to him!
As Brule fell, lightning sparked from his mouth, like the striking of flint.
Finally, as David had said, the Tokamak Fortress, after receiving the last surge of Mana Energy, showed its true, dazzling form under the puzzled yet grave gazes of the Frost Titans, the resentful watch of the High Elves and even The Wandering God, and the excited collective gaze of all the Dragons.
"Tokamak ignition successful."
Amidst a terrifying surge of magic power, the fortress’s central energy core radiated a vast glow.
But before the Dragons could even react, the Tower Spirit of Tokamak Fortress began to emit constant red alerts:
"Alert! Alert!"
"Apparatus core temperature abnormal!"
"Core meltdown in progress!"
"Alert! Core meltdown in progress!"
And the core of the Tokamak Fortress’s apparatus referred to none other than David himself, who was within it.
The Dragon Dad Attilicia, who had been eagerly watching the scene, immediately trembled in terror, his tail twitching. "Could something have gone wrong?"
He clasped his paws around his head, mouth wide open, staring unblinkingly at the suddenly ’leaking energy’ from the core, his expression inexplicably tense.
Yet he failed to notice that deep in his own throat, resembling an alien’s tongue, lay the head of a Spirit Sucker larva—already sprouting features like a dragon’s head—peering through the ’mother’s’ open mouth, taking in the world, observing its ’brother’ whom it never dared face directly.
Possessing the unique ’Psychic Vision’ of the Spirit Suckers, it saw a different scene from all other creatures:
"Wow, how beautiful..." it exclaimed sincerely.
In its current view, David, who should have been immune to flame energy, was dissolving! Yet, amidst the rapid squirming and changing, he was like an egg, rapidly growing and ’evolving’ within its shell, as if being gestated anew for a second time.
The first time this body of his was gestated... it was by his mother, Pafila.
But this time, it was the world that gestated him.
With the laws of Mana Energy fusion he had introduced and defined:
Guided by Arrogance;
Targeting Jealousy;
Mediated by Wrath;
Incubated by Sloth;
Blueprinted by Greed;
Nourished by Gluttony;
And ultimately completed by Lust.
This was an ascension, a transformation at the very level of life itself, frantically compressing countless eons of biological evolution—a process normally taking myriad millennia—into mere seconds. Forged in hundred-million-degree heat, every instant involved hundreds of millions of stacked trial-and-error corrections.
At that moment, all the Dragons, Titans, and Elves fighting on the battlefield felt a stinging sensation as if sunburnt, instinctively pausing for an instant to glance at Tokamak Fortress.
But they all instinctively raised their hands to shield their faces.
Because the energy core, which had previously been an outer device, had, at some unknown point, quietly dissolved.
However, the remaining terrifying heat made it seem as if a second sun had appeared in the sky.
But as the terrible heat subsided, the imposing and fierce form of the Red Dragon was revealed high above in the clear blue sky, now devoid of clouds due to the intense heat.
At first glance, David’s appearance now seemed little different from before. However, upon each scale, countless indiscernible crimson Mana Energies pulsed along glowing red, vein-like traces.
These energies ultimately converged into his heart within his chest, a chamber like a blazing forge.
And with every beat of that heart, seemingly endless, potent Mana Energy surged forth, making it impossible to look directly at him for long—just as one cannot stare directly at the sun.
"How is this possible?" Vileili, a Chosen of the God of Fate and History, looked on as if she had witnessed the birth of a Monster that should not exist in the material world, her face filled with horror and disbelief.
"How can such a level of Mana Energy appear in a mere mortal..."
"What exactly... is this path of power?"
In the eyes of the Elf, a Chosen of the gods, even the ’god-possessed state’—a descent of divine will—seemed to be nothing more than this.
No, what she was unwilling to admit deep down was that even her own god-possessed state might not compare to the grandeur and majesty before her.
But under the deterrence of the powerful God Pafila, The Wandering God, who had already manifested divine power in the world, dared not move.
And the God of Fate and History she revered likewise remained silent.
No, the entire Elven pantheon was silent.
Just like Yevgeny, who had boldly ventured into the Old Continent years ago, their actions were permitted by the gods but lacked their official backing or protection.
They did not wish to wage war with a Dragon God at such a time.
Because then the Spider Queen, who had always been covetously watching from the shadows, would surely intervene!
This strange state of affairs shook the Chosen Elf’s worldview.
So it seemed, even gods could be wary; they too knew fear.
Yet while the gods kept silent, she, a mortal, had to take action!
