The Reborn Sidekick Rejected The Male Lead-Chapter 431 - 418
Chapter 431: 418
The couple had made their way back to the kindergarten. The kids were on their break, having finished their exercises, and were allowed to play in the yard for a while, enjoying the slides and merry-go-round.
The two of them sneaked around the entrance to watch Xiao Cheng play with another child on the merry-go-round.
Looking at his eyes, there were no signs of tears.
The principal knew they were worried and stepped out to update them, "Your boy, Jiang Shicheng, is one of the rare ones who didn’t cry on the first day of school. There are only four or five kids like that here—they all have strong adaptability. During the break, Classmate Jiang drank half a glass of water and soon made friends with other kids in the class. Don’t worry, we take good care of every child here. Should there be any issues, we’ll promptly notify you at the factory."
"Thank you, principal. Seeing him like this, we can be at ease. We’ll be off then."
"Remember to pick up your child after work."
After leaving the kindergarten, Lu Jingqiu once again had nothing to do. Jiang Nanzhou said, "Eat at the canteen for lunch, no need to cook. Make something nice for Xiao Cheng tonight."
"Alright, I’m heading home then."
"Mhm."
One went to work and the other went home. Lu Jingqiu laid flat on the bed and fell asleep until almost twelve o’clock.
She had lunch with Jiang Nanzhou in the canteen and then the two of them went home to rest.
Without the child around, the two felt something was missing that afternoon.
Lu Jingqiu constantly checked the clock.
Jiang Nanzhou teased her, "Shall we go back to check on him again?"
Lu Jingqiu shook her head, "No, the kids are probably napping by now."
"If you can’t sleep, we could do something ’meaningful’."
Seeing the twinkle in Jiang Nanzhou’s eyes, Lu Jingqiu quickly got up from the bed and said, "Then we should clean the house, hmpf."
Jiang Nanzhou had no intention of letting her off the hook. He wanted to make up for all the years they were apart.
In the middle of the day, the two of them worked up a sweat at home.
Now she was completely drained of energy.
Jiang Nanzhou, on the other hand, looked at his watch, took a cold shower in the bathroom, and went off to work.
From the window, Lu Jingqiu saw many buses parked at the main entrance and the workers boarding them.
She wondered if there was some activity going on outside.
After lying on the bed for a while, she got up, boiled some water for a bath, and checked the kitchen.
The kitchen was quite large, U-shaped, with counters made by piecing together several tables.
In West City, the kitchen was quite modern even by the standards of several decades later, but seeing such a kitchen made her a bit uncomfortable.
It needed some work; after all, it was probably the most frequented room in their new life here.
Since Lu Jingqiu didn’t know anyone here, she decided to wait until Nanzhou had a day off to find someone to help with the kitchen.
Seeing it was already three o’clock, Lu Jingqiu went down to the supply depot and bought a couple of bundles of noodles and some leftover pork bones.
She then went home and simmered a pot of pork bone broth.
She also cleaned the house, from the two bedrooms to the living room, mopping the floor twice.
The floor was cement and fortunately smooth to the touch.
Lu Jingqiu wiped every nook and cranny until it was so clean you could walk around the house barefoot without getting dirty.
Laundry was done in the bathroom, but unfortunately, they didn’t bring the washing machine, so she had to wash everything by hand.
There was a wire on the bedroom balcony for hanging clothes.
There was only one issue: a pane of glass in the balcony window was broken, which would be unacceptable in winter.
Around six o’clock, Lu Jingqiu went down to wait at the kindergarten entrance.
More parents started to arrive to pick up their children.
At the entrance, Lu Jingqiu saw her son in line waiting.
The little guy seemed to have adapted well, as he was waving to her from inside.
Teacher Hu, seeing her, said with a smile, "Jiang Shicheng behaved so well on his first day of school. He only said he missed his mom during nap time, but he didn’t cry."
"Really? Xiao Cheng is such a good boy. Teacher Hu, thank you for your hard work. We’ll head home now."
"Goodbye, Classmate Jiang. Bye, Xiao Cheng’s mom."
"Goodbye, Teacher Hu." Xiao Cheng said his farewells while walking.
Once outside, Lu Jingqiu picked up her child and gave him a big kiss, "My Xiao Cheng is so good, being a nice baby all day."
"Mommy, there are so many fun things here and lots of kids. I already have two friends."
"Oh? What are their names?"
"Zhang Jundong and Xie Dapeng."
"That’s great. You are a child with many friends now, no, you’re a student now. In light of Jiang Shicheng’s excellent performance today, mommy will make you Mariana Trench noodles tonight, okay?"
