The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 407: Breakfast together ? - IV
"Is it.. warm?" Catherine asked next and hesitatantly.
Tristan chuckled then lowered his head. He was trying to control his laughter.
"No," he said, once he sobered up, " I mean this one is not warm. It depends on how one wants to have it."
Had it not been Catherine, who had asked the question, I would have laughed with him.
This smile remained on his face, he still wanted to laugh, but did not out of respect.
"I see." She murmured. "But should it not be warm when it is taken?"
"It is when it is taken from a human. Eventually, it cools down."
"What Do you eat? Can you just survive on?"
Such a good question. I have seen him eat bloody meat, completely raw and drowned in the blood. So I would say he could eat anything as long as blood was on it.
"Wecan eat anything as long as it is majorly made of blood. Although, it is only blood that is essential for our survival. We have evolved a little bit to move to solid. The preference of many still remains on just blood."
Catherine impressively took it all in, like a good student. Of course, a story like this captured her attention more than anything. "Do you eat deserts?"
Now I laughed. I no longer could have any control over my laughter, and Tristan turned to share one with me before turning back to my sister to answer her query.
"No, we cannot taste sugar, so there is no point in eating anything of such—"
"But what if a human drank so much sugar that it makes their blood sweet? Would you taste the blood then?" She gasped. "Does blood have flavor? Can you tell what my flavor is?"
My face twisted into an ugly expression at that. Flavour? Blood heart flavor?
Tristan better like my flavor. He had bitten my neck twice already. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"It’s very distinct and yes, many people have a preference for a certain kind of blood. Blood does not have a taste of flavor. Although they can be different from each other, which I do not know how to explain. It’s the same as wine, more aged, young, and a lot of other factors that affect the taste of it." he could not anymore and just lowered his head while covering his eyes. His entire body shook with laughter.
I not control my smile as well, and Catherine looked back-and-forth between us before huffing back and folding her shoulders over her chest.
"I do not understand this. I thought we were having a serious conversation. Why are you two sharing a laugh?" She frowned, more than none of us answered, and just looked straight ahead at Me. "At my expense, Genevieve?"
I gasped, although it was an attempt to take in a deep breath to control my giggling. "Why, I would never laugh at you, darling. Tristan is quite funny to watch when he’s laughing. I was laughing at him."
"Oh?" Sibling and looked at Tristan, who was looking at me and I was ignoring him. She ordered, "I suppose that’s true."
Horrified, Tristan turned to her before looking back at me.
I shrugged, picked up my class and drank a good sip of cold tea.
Katherine cleared her throat, asking for his attention silently, and Tristan obliged. Thankfully.
She asked her next question, and instead of reacting, this time I just focused on my food. It had cooled down then I had to eat it quickly. Otherwise it would be completely cold.
Her questions were trivial, at times, they were slightly controversial, but Tristan smoothed all the edges and answered her imperfectly quoted words, like he had previously told her. They were answered so well that Catherine did not even notice them.
"But, why is my sister awake at night? Do I have to be awake at night?"
"If you want, you can be awake at night, but if you do not wish to be, you can sleep. Genevieve has to become a part of my court which is why she is still accustoming to the changes."
The court that I still have to know a lot more about. I suppose it was going to be his aunt who was going to teach me and I hope that it would be quick. What court were they hosting at night? How are the people of the country going to grow in tune with it?
"Now that I am awake, what are we going to do for the rest of the night?"’ Catherine’s question was directed at me and I thought over it.
There was one activity that had not been done by both of us since we had been separated for so long. Maybe we could try a hand at that again.
"What do you think of horse riding?"
My sister smiled, but my beloved did not.
"I would absolutely love it!"
Tristan did not.
"What is it?" I asked him. " do you not approve it?"
" it is not about my approval. It is dark and I do not trust you out there alone, in the dark."
"But," I shifted my seat slightly, "there would be cards and Bert and Solomon with me?"
He nodded. "Yet, not enough. Could you postpone it for tomorrow morning or evening?"
Catherine pouted. "Can we do it after this? Please, I have not been outside the palace for so many days. All I have been doing is eating and resting and sitting. I want to go out and enjoy myself. Just wanna house ride and we would not go far."
Tristan seemed a little torn. I wonder why. He had a little sister, cousin, to himself. Had she never requested anything from him? But then again, Catherine was younger in comparison to Laura and she was quite bratty, used to getting her way.
She had learnt the art of charming elders and Tristan was going to find it difficult to say no to her.
"I," he paused, "I suppose if you wish. But you will return when Solomon will tell you. Not far away and near the palace. Is that understood by both of you?"
"Yes!" Catherine said, quite loudly. "We do!"
