The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 402: A visitor - II
My eyes opened, and I closed them when it hurt to remain keeping them open. I was still sleepy and so my eyes but the feeling of being watched, alerted everything in my body. My mind was now wide awake, and slowly, the sleep went away from my eyes.
My chest rose with each breath that I took, realising that it wasn’t someone watching me. Someone was in the room with me.
And I knew that someone was. I recognised the stare on me and how my body reacted to it.
The flush I would feel, the heat that came with it, was the only confirmation I needed.
"Why are you in my room?"
"The entire palace is mine. So this room is mine and you wanted to be ours." Was his reply in a dry, unentertaining voice.
I scoffed. "Is not with beloveds that what is yours is mine and whats mine is yours?"
"It is."
I wanted to love, sarcastically, mock him first double standards, but I did not. The only thing I did next was get up and sit with my back against the board of the bed.
They only light that came was from the doors that he had opened, which overlooked the gardens from the small balcony that came with the Queens quarters.
Apart from that, there was only a small candle that was beside my bed.
"You did not even get to light another candle by yourself." I commented, staring at his figure that was in the corner of my room, seated in a sofa seed that was not usually kept in that place.
"I can handle the dark quite well, my love."
"I cannot." My reply was quick. " I cannot handle the dark very well, nor do I like being pushed into it."
There was a movement of his hair, but I did not recognize it well.
"I can handle darkness, and I can handle your darkness as well which is why you did not have any nightmares today. Did you?"
Frowning to myself, I went over his words and then looked out. It should have been bright outside. The symbol of a new day, the sun should have already been up, but instead I was staring into the darkness of the night.
"How?"
"You slept the entire day and night, my love." he answered, making me realise that somehow, my question had left my mind and was on my tongue. "The nightmares woke you up, but when you did not have them, he slept for a long time. You do look refreshing."
An unintentional scoff left me at the last comment. Or I should rather say a compliment.
My eyes remained on the dark sky. I slept for an entire day and the following night. It never happened.. well, before the incident it, but after that it never did.
For once, I did not feel tired nor did I have to wait for Irene to come in and start the day for me.
It was a different feeling that I had stopped remembering..
turning my face to him, I asked, "why are you here?"
" I wanted to have some peace."
"Peace?" I repeated. " found peace here out of all places?"
I caught slight movement of his head, but I was not sure if it was a nod or a shake that he had given me.
"What?"
He sighed. "You are my peace, Genevieve. Watching you is peaceful for me, it is more peaceful than what I will ever find any scenery to look at. The most glorious view falls short in comparison to you. So, yes, I have found my peace and it is looking at you."
"It is peaceful to look at me while I’m asleep and completely unaware of your presence?"
A short laugh came from him followed by his answer. "We had, what humans call, a disagreement or a fight, and after that I am told that there is silence in between the couple. You would have not allowed me to talk to you so I resorted this."
Only humans had a disagreement? His kind did not? Whether his kind did or did not, this was not a very appropriate thing to do.
"It is not appropriate to come and stay in my bedroom when I am asleep or any time of the day without a chaperone." I chastised but it was more like a statement that I wanted him to know about. I did not like him being here when I was not aware of his presence.
"Did you know that it is one of the many benefits of being the king that no one can tell me what is appropriate anymore? I only extend that court but I suppose, sometimes I may have to ignore your opinion."
"Ign—" I gasped. "I will start ignoring you if you think of ignoring my opinion!"
"Alright, if you don’t like it, then I may just... hear it."
Was it me or Tristan was being much more of a handful than he usually was? Why was he just teasing, and so playful with me?
"Now, if you are done sleeping, and finally awake," He stood up and slowly walked towards me, coming to light enough for the dim light to make him visible, "let’s talk."
"About what?" my voice had more bark to it, then ever.
He smiled. "What is it that could ever find its importance in a conversation between you and I? We are going to talk about us, my love."
"There is absolutely nothing. I wanted to talk about with you—" I stopped, the words physically hurt to say. It felt like I was replying to say that I had nothing to do with him. It hurt.
How could it ever hurt?
Tristan appeared to know what exactly I was feeling. He came forward and his knee dipped into the mattress.
"What exactly do you think you’re doing?!" I whispered harshly, calling him out.
A wolfish smile came to the face of my beloved, making him look like a predator. "why, something very inappropriate, my love."
