The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 321: The new turn - I
Silence could be deafening when it wanted to be. It could make your heartbeat so fast that you could hear it in your ears. Something I never thought was possible before.
Once the food was placed in front of us and the doors were closed, I felt myself be on guard again. I was alone with Tristan and something unnerved me about him at the moment.
I had to do this.
"What was in the tea?" I asked, my hand is creeping the plates of my dress tightly. "I fainted right after drinking it."
"You did." Tristan nodded. "maybe you were tired."
"The day had barely begun. How was I supposed to be tired?"
He pursued his lips, appearing to be thinking but I knew he was mocking me. "I think you needed to sleep."
"I did not." I answered him. "What made you think that?"
"You."
A meger word made me scared. "How?"
A cruel smile played on his lips. "I realised something after the conversation we had in the morning. You are required to know more of my lifestyle and what better could I have done to make you live in it with me."
"L-like," I stammered, "Like what?"
"Like," Tristan drawled out, having fun with it as much as he could. "turning your life upside down like the rest of us."
He continued, "Your days will begin at dusk and end at dawn. You will start meeting my family members and members of the court. Governors and their wife’s along with the ministers. You will act like a queen who is to married soon."
Married? What?
"Do not act so surprised, my love." He admonished. "That is the price you have to pay in lieu of the lives of the servants."
"But marriage?" I whispered, still in shock of what he said. "Why marriage?"
He gave me a knowing look before answering, "You said you would be mine, completely mine. That means something to me."
"The only way you would be completely mine is my marriage and then your turning."
"..turning?" I whispered, So softly that I almost just mouthed the word itself.
"By that," I gathered the courage to say it, "do you mean to say.."
"Yes," he urged, "go ahead."
"..You want to make me a vampire?" The last word was merely a whisper. I did not wish to share out loud.
"Yes," he nodded. "I want to make your command turn you into a vampire. Someone like me, after which she would never be able to leave my side."
I gulped.
Tristan’s eyes shone bright. "Willingly or unwilling, You would always come back to me, Genevive."
His eyes glanced at my untouched plate of food. He pointed the finger towards it, "please, eat. Enjoy it while you can. Food like this without blood will often taste bland."
Bland without blood. Words I never thought I would hear in my life.
Slowly, I picked up my knife and fork before cutting into the breakfast and taking a small bite for myself. I was not particularly hungry, not at this time in the night. But I was just eating so that I could keep myself busy.
When had I ever let him think I was willing to be turned into a vampire or even marry him? Yes, I had surrendered my life but I had expected to be killed for treason instead of meeting this Fate.
"Killing you will be like ending myself. A life without you would not be a life worth living, Genevive." Tristan spoke from his end of the table, who was still watching me with those red eyes that twinkled in the candle light. "and I very much intend to continue on living."
"You are dead, Tristan." I pointed out the obvious. "You are not living, you are dead."
"I am." He smiled. "You get to be dead with me."
My grip on the utensils tightened as I considered telling him what was in my mind.
What words could happen if I told him how I truly felt? On one hand, I was getting married and turned into a vampire without my consent and on the other, I just might end up being executed. So what could be worse than the two options that I already had in front of me?
"I do not wish to be turned, nor do I wish to be married to you. I expected for you to kill me, if you have decided against it then give me my punishment but please, do not turn me against the very God I believe—"
"Answer my question," he interrupted me, "where was this God that you chose to stay with when the entire kingdom was hunting You?"
"What?"
He nodded. "When that man showed up in the presence of Anastasia and your father, who then decided to have you executed the night you married the prince without any investigation?"
He did not need to say more and by the pointed look that he was giving me, Tristan knew I remembered what he was talking about.
That night was the reason why Merilyn was now someone who belonged to them more than she did to me.
My eyes went down to the food, Any attempt to hide the shame that I felt. "God could never come down and save me, Tristan. You have to understand—" 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"What I understand is, I saved you and your friend sacrificed her life for the same cause." He leaned forward on the table. "Your God did not save you, the people you love did. I did and so did Marilyn, without the thought of our life being in jeopardy. Whereas, on the other hand, your God just could not possibly come."
"I know how it sounds." I agreed. "But how can God come to save me?"
He smiled and stood up. Tristan walked towards me leisurely as he answered, "God could not. The Almighty could not come to save you but I did."
He stopped right in front of me and said, "and I succeeded."
