The Princess Kidnapping System Made Me OP-Chapter 54: The Real Finals
Chapter 54: The Real Finals
It was a beautiful day, the sun was already out and was bathing the crowd with its soft radiance.
The stadium today just like other days was packed to the brim, the fans eager to see what would be the first title defence in the last two years.
The announcer was once again on his stage, dressed in a well tailored suit, cufflinks and a pair of black spectacles to shield his eyes.
He stared down at the crowd, smiled and took a deep breath "Ladies and gentlemen, this is the—"
"Shut up and let’s get to the action!"
"Does he think he’s the mc or something?"
The announcer glared at the crowd. "Shut up and let me finish my speech!" He screamed before taking in a deep breath to calm himself.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome! Today is the day you have all been eagerly waiting for, the clash of champions!"
"Wooo!" The crowd cheered, and the announcer took a moment to revel in the cheers, as though it was meant for him...
"Today we will see two fierce entities go up against each other. On one side, we have the stranger, the dragon’s right hand man, the man who the crowd has gotten fond of calling the demon slayer!"
"Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for Xanthos!"
There was a mixed reaction from the crowd. During the tournament, they cheered for him when he went against regular warriors such as himself.
But now he was going against their princess...
Still, there were those who remained loyal and their cheers erupted over the boos, chasing a little chaos in the arena.
The southern arena gates creaked open with a metallic ring, and out of the gates emerged Wise, a brilliant smile on his face and he observed the crowd.
As he walked up to the centre of the arena, he made sure to glance at the queen, his gaze lingering for a few seconds.
The queen was smiling too, it didn’t look like she was scared for a second about what was going to transpire today.
On the contrary, the queen looked confident...
’What scene have you laid out for today?’
Agatha had come as far as rigging every single match he had been in since the start of the power games, it would be foolish to think she would back off today.
The announcer’s voice amplifier buzzed to life once more. "And on the other side, we have the pride of our nation, the two time power games champion!"
"Please give it up for the Lightning Heir, Princess Aofie!"
This time it was the northern gates that were pulled open, and out of it came the princess.
When they first met, she was in an elegant leather armour that was light and allowed her to maintain most of her agility.
But now she has taken a complete turn.
Aofie was what Wise would call dressed for the task... She wore a golden full body knight’s armour that glowed underneath the sun as though it could absorb its rays.
The armour was crafted with attention to detail, instead of using plane plate armour, the armour had been cut into smaller pieces and joined to preserve some degree of mobility.
And two sharp spikes were protruding from each shoulder pad, giving off a faint glow.
She had even gone as far as bringing the helmet along with her. Currently, the visor was open, allowing him to see her face.
’Why bring armour though?’
Aofie was not dumb, and even if she was, common sense should have told her that he could tear through any armour within seconds...
Wise gave the armour a closer look and frowned.
’A relic?’
He almost laughed. ’To think this is the queen’s grand plan...’
Relics were powerful tools with special properties infused into them through runic sorcery.
Some relics provided superior defence, others were capable of bolstering the user’s offensive capabilities to a considerable extent.
’I wonder what this one does...’
Once Aofie got in earshot, Wise gave her his most charming smile. "Princess, you look even prettier than you were yesterday."
Aofie stared at him with no visible change in her facial expression, and then she suddenly shut her visor to hide her face. "Flattery won’t get you anywhere."
Wise raised his hands innocently. "I’m not trying to flatter you, I was just stating a fact."
Truthfully, Aofie’s focused gaze was rather amusing to watch. To a dragon like Wise, it was like watching a rabbit throw a tantrum.
There was a short period of silence. "Try not to die today Xanthos. If you actually manage to best me then we can go see your baby boss immediately."
"I’ll advise you to not call him that when we meet him..." Wise cautioned as both he and Aofie began to circle each other.
"Why? Is your boss the sensitive type?"
Wise shrugged, "When he is in a bad move he is known to eat princesses..."
Aofie paused, her face no doubt pale underneath her visor. She took her stance and stared at Wise with an unreadable expression. "Give me a good match Xanthos, maybe I’ll spare you if I even cancel your death sentence if you entertain me enough."
Wise stopped pacing as well and watched Aofie with an amused grin, he was about to speak when the announcer’s voice cut through the stage.
"And the championship match shall now begin!"
Bending his knees slightly and placing one hand forward while the other was at his back. Wise took the first step forward. "Shall we?"
Tzzzzzzz!
A sound similar to crackling lightning suddenly filled the arena, as Aofie’s armour was suddenly engulfed in golden lighting.
The wind picked up around her, dust scattering in the air as the lighting intensified.
It was growing, getting larger by the second and quickly turning into something terrifying. At first, it had started as slim streaks of lighting but now some of the lightning bolts were already as large as her forearm.
"Lightning huh, an interesting ability."
Aoife smiled from behind her visor and then a thunderous sound exploded outward as she lunged forward, sending her lightning encased figure charging right at Wise.
