The Princess Kidnapping System Made Me OP-Chapter 45: Despair
Chapter 45: Despair
"Primus..." Tyris whispered as she strayed up at Wise.
From the look of things, she had received quite a beating. Her face was caked in thick blood, and there were purple bruises on her skin.
’What is she even doing here? Isn’t she an arena guard?!’
From arena guard to tournament warrior and how to whatever the group of wannabe ninjas were.
’This woman is a handful.’
Wise glanced at the area around them, noticing how badly damaged the district was.
Had their fight caused this?
He had been searching the city for Rosalind when he heard the sounds of a battle coming from this area.
And when he saw the demon moments away from boring a hole in Tyris’ body he picked up a discarded sword and tore through its arm. freēnovelkiss.com
"How did a demon enter the city?" Wise asked Tyris who was still in his arms.
Tyris stared at him and shook her head. "That is confidential inform—ahh!"
Before she could finish her sentence, Wise let go of her, leaving her to fall flat on her butt.
"Hey!" Tyris stood up, rubbing her behind with her hand. "You did that on purpose did you?"
Wise shrugged. "You were too heavy, you weigh like a ton."
Tyris’ face darkened and bent down to pick up her slender tachi. "Say that again, I dare you."
"I said that you weigh—" Since she was so hard of hearing, Wise was about to repeat his earlier statement when he heard a crashing sound.
The demon he sent flying was rising from the rubble looking rather angry. It was still armless though, like a cute little tank top.
Tyris turned her attention from Wise and smiled at the demon. "Look who decided to wake up, so what are you going to do without our arms? Stomp us to death?"
The bloody stumps where the demon’s arms had once stood began to throb and then out of the mess came a new set of arms, slowly growing and taking form.
Tyris stared blankly. "Oh..."
She then turned to Wise and tapped his shoulder in a friendly manner. "I’ll leave this one to you Mr Primus," She said as she quickly began leaping away.
Wise glanced at a wrecked tavern not too far from him and recognized the signboard. It was Taryn’s place.
"What about the civilians that were here?"
Tyris continued walking away. "We evacuated every one of them."
Wise nodded, now that he knew she was safe, he could focus on the strange demon in front of him.
"So this is the mysterious demon that had everyone shaking?" Wise asked as he began walking toward it, his movement calm but purposeful.
"I have to say, you’re a lot bigger than I expected. How did you manage to stay hidden for so long?"
Of course, the demon did not reply, strangely it had not attacked either, it just watched as Wise strode towards it, up until he was a few inches away from the beast.
Wise stared up at the monstrosity that stood many feet taller than him.
"I’m looking for a certain girl. Care to help me out?"
The demon snarled, spewing saliva from its maw and then it launched a crushing blow towards Wise’s head, its claw at the forefront of the strike.
Wise’s body blurred, his clothes fluttering in the air as he disappeared, only to appear at the other side of the beast almost instantly.
The demon’s fist swiped against open air and Wise took the opportunity to send the demon down with an explosive kick to the back of its knee.
The monster bucked and crashed against the floor, but before it could even make a single move—
Thwack!
Wise’s foot slammed into its side, the blow so destructive that the beast caved, coughing up blood.
The demon rolled away in haste, sprung to its feet and lunged forward in a futile attempt to take hold of Wise.
"Too slow."
Maybe if this fight happened without its clash with Tyris...
Maybe it would have been a bit more entertaining.
But now—
Boom!
Wise batted its muscular hand to the side, ducked under the next strike and cracked his hand against its shoulder, his fingers stiffening like a blade to deliver a painful chop.
The demon roared, its arm falling by its side.
Tyris and Galius watched the fight with wide eyes. "How is he that strong?" Tyris asked while watching as the demon was being surgically decimated.
It had already been weakened from their earlier fight but this was still rather shocking.
"He’s just that strong captain! He took out all our men when we fought him. And it didn’t even look like he broke a sweat..."
"Primus huh?" Tyris muttered, her eyes gleaming. "I would love to work for that guy."
The demon went down to a knee from the sheer force of the chop and then it desperately slashed with its claws, hoping to put some distance between itself and Wise.
But as the claw came hurtling forward, Wise’s sword was flying, both of them clashing in the middle in an explosive clamour of steel.
The steel sword vibrated, on the verge of shattering in half so Wise discarded It.
Boom!
Wise drove his fist forward, meeting it square in the face, just before he dug his knee into its gut.
The demon coughed out air and staggered even while on its knees, its hand instinctively reaching for its belly.
Then it roared in anger and desperation.
RAWWRRRRRR!!
But Wise was not the least bit intimidated.
Since he was in a mask he had no real reason to hold back so he pounded his frustrations into the demon.
"Come on, is that the best you can do?" Wise mocked.
The demon shrieked and unfurled its dark wings sending a torrent of air forward. The bat-like wings spread out by its sides, making the demon look far larger.
Then with one massive wave of its wings, it leaped into the air, hoping to escape through the clouds.
But something was wrong...
The demon flapped its wings and flapped it once more. It applied more pressure but strangely it was not going any higher.
When it looked down, its eyes widened as it saw Wise holding onto its long tail, his mask making him appear like a fiend, pulling it back to hell.
"I have more important things to do, just die already..."
One forceful pull was all it took to destroy its momentum and send it spiraling toward Wise.
On the ground, Wise was waiting, his right hand drawn back.
Once the demon got close enough, Wise unleashed a hellish blow fueled by fatigue, anger and frustration.
The impact was so much that the wind picked up, scattering his hair from the intensity of the rush.
Wise felt a crack at the point of impact, and the demon fell limp on the floor, looking utterly helpless.
He sighed.
"I guess that’s it?"
He looked ahead to the shattered buildings and street, hoping that by some miracle he would see Rosa running out of an alley bound up but safe.
He had found the demon but he had no idea where Rosalind was being kept, or if she was even alive.
"I’ll leave the rest to you guys!" Wise waved at the men in black and was about to leave when his eyes caught something odd.
The demon... it was shrinking?
It turned smaller and smaller, up to the point where it became less than half of its original size.
Its black skin turned to an ashen colour, its long horns retreated and its wigs disappeared.
Wise’s eyebrows came together, forming a crease between them as he observed the scene with a degree of shock, anger and guilt.
He felt a shiver run down his spine. He took a step forward but it was as though his body weighed a ton, each step was laborious, each movement forced.
Because he did not want to see...
Yet he already knew, deep inside he must at least suspected it once, but his mind refused to accept that possibility.
He had pushed it away and now he could no longer run from it, he had been cornered by the certainty of truth.
There was no demon—
Laying on the floor where a demon once laid was none other than Rosalind, the girl he was searching for.
The person who had been suffering from the force of his blows, the one who he had beaten bloody...
It was her.
She was the demon.
