The Princess Kidnapping System Made Me OP-Chapter 43: Eight Shadows and a Demon
Chapter 43: Eight Shadows and a Demon
"Damn it, we’re late," Tyris cursed, stepping to the side as a panicked woman sped past her.
She then turned to the nearest shadow and shoved him to the side. "Evacuate everyone in the nearby area now!"
Just as she finished her statement, the demon finally stopped thrashing, it rose to its feet, standing at an impressive nine feet in height.
"Get ready!" Her second in command, Galius screamed and the shadows took out their weapons.
Dual short swords, Naginatas, a Kusarigama and even a Bowie knife were all on display.
As for Tyris...
She reached for the sword sheath strapped to her back and pulled out her sword, the blade making a metallic shrill and it slid out of its confines.
Tyris held the blade with both arms as she stared down her opponent. It was a long curved blade longer than her arm and bearing runic patterns for reinforcement.
The blade was silver with a faint blue tint and its hilt had a rough textured grip, making it a pleasure to hold.
The sword was a Tachi, a weapon she had gotten once when she traveled abroad.
The demon opened its eyes and the oppressive feeling it was radiating deepened as its red eyes roamed from man to man, eventually settling on Tyris.
Tyris took a step forward, moving the sword to a single grip. "Alright boys, it’s about time we ended this fiasco."
Whoosh!
Her subordinates darted forward with their weapons at the ready. With the ever abundant darkness and their dark clothing, they were like moving shadows of death.
The first shadow squared off with the demon. He swung his Bowie knife right at its neck, hoping to kill it in one precise strike, but the demon narrowly dodged the attack, taking a single step back.
As the demon took a step back, another shadow was already waiting for him, swinging his sword in a vicious arc.
Clang!
The sword clashed against the adamantine claws of the demon, stopping it in place, and then the demon’s tails crackled against the man’s back, shredding through his clothes like paper.
He screamed and rolled onto the street, but another shadow was already there to replace him. This one wasn’t so lucky...
He darted to the side of the demon and drove his foot into his side with a resounding bang.
The demon’s tail came flying once more but he ducked underneath it and slashed, his sword tearing into the demon’s abdomen.
"See?" He said, a crazed smile on his lips as blood dripped from the wound. "Everyone bleeds!"
Boom!
An explosive blow crashed against the man’s head, popping his head like a melon and flattening his body in an instant.
Dark blood and gore spewed onto the street, some splashing against the nearby shadow. The man took a step back, his eyes wide in fear, that was his mistake...
The queen’s shadows were highly trained, but in the face of death, any man could bend.
The demon’s claw came charging right at him, aiming to spill his guts onto the field, but just as it was mere moments away from ripping into his flesh—
Vooom!
A pulsing red energy exploded against the demon’s body, tossing it several meters back and crashing into a nearby store.
The demon slammed the broken wood from its body and was about to rise up when Tyris appeared right in front of it, her eyes gleaming with murderous intent.
Her tachi tore through the air, straight at where the demon’s heart would have been, only to get batted to the side.
She rotated her body, hoping to recover form
the counter when the demon’s tail came flying.
Whoosh!
Tyris held her breath, her heart thundering in her ears as the tail came soaring right past her head.
Just a little mishap and she would have died right then and there. Not from the tail strike, but from the follow-up attack that she would have been too dazed to handle.
She jumped back, giving herself some distance from the demon and glanced around.
Among her seven shadows, one had been injured, one was dead and five were still fully functional. If they played their card right then they had a very good chance of winning.
The demon was stronger than her when it came to physical strength but agility was where she had the advantage, agility and the power of her ability.
She just had to look out for that tail....
The demon roared, a fiendish cry that made her skin crawl. The sound was followed by a disturbing high pitched squeal that caused her eardrums to throb.
And then it bolted forward, leaving a dent on the floor it lunged from.
Tyris charged as well, her tachi pulled back.
Boom!
Claw and steel collided, causing a shockwave to explode from the point of impact.
Tyris felt her bones rattle from the impact, the Tachi nearly leaving her hand.
And then she disengaged, jumping back a step.
Whoosh!
The demon slashed at her abdomen, missing wildly and then Tyris lunged, her body bent low as she sped underneath his arm.
Her tachi flashed, tearing into tough skin and flesh. She dashed backward as its fist cut through the area she had once been, exploding against the floor—
She twisted her body to the side as the tail sped in her direction and then she spun around, rotating her body to increase the intensity of her attack before lashing out at the beast.
Tyris was moving like a hellish storm, each movement precise and fluid. The demon had not sustained any major damage but by now it had multiple cuts all over.
The shadows instinctively avoided the fight, afraid to get in the way of their captain.
Tyris drove her sword at the beast’s side, targeting a vital organ but the beast defended with both hands, causing her steel tachi to screech against its claws.
Now that both its hands were immobilised, Tyris decided to attempt something risky.
A direct hit on its head to destabilise it!
She jumped halfway into the air, rotating her body to deliver a powerful kick, but she had made one fatal mistake.
The tail...
’I forgot about the tail!’
Crackling like a whip, the powerful tail of the demon slammed into her abdomen, sending her crashing onto the stone road.
Although the tail had not cut through her stomach, it felt worse than a knife stab, it was as though a battering ram, pulled by a carriage had been driven into her stomach.
Tyris saw the stars, her body still reeling from pain as she stared up at the starry sky.
But she was not allowed to enjoy the view, because shortly after, the demon grabbed onto her head, its powerful fingers gripping her skull tightly.
And then it squeezed...
