Chapter 1651: 798 Long Yi Appears (Two Updates)_2

The alley fell into silence.

Liao Chen looked at the armor on her body and murmured, "Why is this armor on you? Was it given to you by the Duke of Anguo? How did you become his adopted son? And why would he give you something so important?"

His gaze fell on her small, sticky face. Watching her drool, he couldn’t help but ask, "Who exactly are you?"

The sky had already darkened. The Black Wind King silently found a place where the breeze blew, letting Gu Jiao fall asleep in the cool night wind.

Liao Chen walked over, gently stroked the Black Wind King’s head, and asked, "Don’t you remember me?"

The Black Wind King looked at him, his eyes seemed a bit confused.

Liao Chen patted its head and said, "Well, you haven’t seen what I look like, but I have seen you. I was there when you were born."

The Black Wind King started to sniff Liao Chen’s scent. It wasn’t familiar, but not completely strange, it didn’t make him feel uncomfortable.

Liao Chen stayed still, letting the Black Wind King search his body for the Xuanyuan family’s scent.

But it probably couldn’t find it.

The Black Wind King sniffed for a long time. Its emotions were not as rich as those of humans, but after smelling Liao Chen’s scent, it inexplicably felt a bit melancholy and dejected.

Liao Chen extended his hand, which had Buddha Beads hanging from it, gently placing it on its forehead, softly saying, "It’s okay... it’s okay."

...

Princess Residence.

It had rained last night, and after the rain cleared today, the air carried a distinct scent of soil and greenery.

Princess Xinyang and Yujin sat in the room, organizing old clothes from Xiao Hen’s childhood.

The bedchamber was covered with children’s clothes. Yujin and Princess Xinyang each sat on one end of the bed.

Yujin picked up a piece of clean, old cotton cloth and said with amusement, "This is a diaper that the young marquis used when he was little. You really kept everything, didn’t throw away a single piece."

Princess Xinyang couldn’t help but laugh, "Why throw it away? The Princess Residence is so big, there’s plenty of space for everything."

Yujin chuckled, "You just can’t bear to let them go."

Princess Xinyang picked up a bright red dudou, saying, "This was for him when he was three months old. He grew so fast, he could only wear it for half a month."

Yujin recalled, "The weather was still cold then. I remember he only wore this dudou a couple of times."

Princess Xinyang said, "It was just for looks. I’d let him wear it after a bath to satisfy my motherly urge to admire him."

"Poor little marquis," Yujin said, folding the dudou and putting it in a nearby box. She then picked up a set of soft, pink clothes, "I guess the young marquis didn’t know you dressed him up like a little girl when he was one?"

Princess Xinyang lightly coughed, "Just for the fun of it."

Yujin put away the adorable little clothes, then picked up a pair of tiger-head shoes, smiling, "I made this pair myself."

Princess Xinyang pointed at the tiger-head hat and small coat on the bed, "And this tiger-head hat, the little coat, you made those too. They were Xiao Hen’s first birthday gifts."

Yujin smiled, "The princess remembers everything."

Princess Xinyang’s eyes softened. Looking at these small shoes and clothes, she exuded a motherly warmth.

"When it comes to Ahen, I remember everything clearly," she said.

Yujin said, "Speaking of the young marquis’s first birthday, I remember we had a grabbing ceremony. You hoped he would grab the book, and the marquis hoped he’d grab the sword, but he didn’t grab either."

When this was mentioned, Princess Xinyang laughed and cried, "Yes, he grabbed Long Yi."

Princess Xinyang’s way of raising children was entirely different from Shangguan Yun’s. Shangguan Yun adhered to the Xuanyuan family tradition, raising children in a free-range style, wanting Shangguan Qing to grow up wild and robust.

But because of her extremely poor childhood experiences, Princess Xinyang was exceptionally careful with Xiao Hen. She never left him out of her sight, nearly binding Xiao Hen to her waist.

Before he was one year old, Xiao Hen had never seen such a big scene. Suddenly surrounded by so many people, with his parents being accomplices, he was frightened and timidly called out for Long Yi.

Long Yi appeared.

His little hand tightly grasped Long Yi’s finger.

Princess Xinyang suddenly sighed, "Is Long Yi still the same?"

Yujin nodded solemnly, "Yes, ever since you gave him that, he sits under the corridor in a daze every day."

This matter dated back to Princess Xinyang’s sudden whim to organize old items. While sorting through her old vanity box, she unexpectedly found a jade thumb ring that had been sealed for years.
