The Prime Minister Seduced Me to have Babies!-Chapter 146: Secret Code
Suo Zhu heard Gu Mei’s voice, quickly got off the cart, rubbed his hands, and said with a smile, "I specifically came to pick you up, hurry and get on the cart."
He then said to Yun Jiao, "Little sister-in-law and little brother-in-law, get on too."
Yun Jiao had a good impression of Suo Zhu and was planning to go along with it. However, Gu Mei climbed onto the cart herself and said, "Why bother about them? Let them walk home by themselves."
Suo Zhu didn’t dare disobey Gu Mei and looked troubled. At that moment, a carriage approached from a distance.
Yun Jiao looked and recognized the driver; it was Uncle Liu Er.
Liu Er stopped the carriage in front of Yun Jiao and said with a smile, "Scholar Jiang sent me to pick you up. Hop on."
Yun Jiao smiled at Suo Zhu, "Brother-in-law, thank you. I’ll take Uncle Liu Er’s carriage back."
Suo Zhu grinned sheepishly, "That’s great."
Gu Mei was sitting on the cart, casting a sidelong glance over.
Suo Zhu’s mule cart was just a flatbed; it wasn’t meant for passengers, primarily used for transporting grain at home.
Liu Er’s carriage was for both passengers and cargo. With winter here and more need for passenger transport, he had a blue cloth canopy installed. Once inside, with the curtains drawn, it kept out the wind and rain, making it wonderfully warm.
Yun Jiao lifted the curtain to enter and found a brazier inside.
The brazier looked quite familiar.
Liu Er smiled, "Scholar Gu asked Ah Tie to put it here, saying he was worried you might be cold on the road."
Gu Mei, seeing the brazier from her side, became unhappy immediately.
She scolded Suo Zhu angrily, "You idiot, look at theirs, and then look at yours!"
"This cart doesn’t even have a canopy, how am I supposed to sit?"
"Even if there’s no canopy, it’s winter, and you didn’t bring me a cape or a hand warmer. Are you trying to freeze me?"
Suo Zhu said apologetically, "I rushed here, I forgot. I’ll remember next time, for sure."
Suo Zhu drove the mule cart ahead.
Soon after, Liu Er caught up with Suo Zhu with the carriage.
Gu Mei sat on the cart, cold wind blowing directly down her neck, her carefully styled hair getting disheveled.
Seeing the carriage with the blue cloth canopy passing by, Gu Mei was so angry her mouth twisted, and she scolded Suo Zhu again. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
After a while, Gu Mei started feeling something was off.
Jiang Sanlang was being so considerate to Yun Jiao?
Not only sending a carriage to pick her up, but also preparing a brazier?
Was this still the proud and aloof Jiang Sanlang she remembered?
Could Yun Jiao and Jiang Sanlang possibly...?
Gu Mei shook her head vigorously, as if to shake this strange thought out of her mind.
She always thought she was better than Yun Jiao; she was prettier and smarter, so why would Sanlang prefer Yun Jiao over her?
Gu Mei quickly concluded that it must all be Mrs. Chen’s doing, instructing Sanlang to act.
Now that Yun Jiao could earn money, of course she needed to be treated well.
Yun Jiao and Gu Chuan arrived home warm and cozy.
Upon asking Uncle Liu Er, they found out that Sanlang had already paid for the carriage.
Ah Tie came out and moved the brazier into Yun Jiao’s room, while Mrs. Chen ran to the kitchen to serve food for Yun Jiao and Gu Chuan.
The food had been kept warm on the stove. Yun Jiao and Xiao Chuan sat by the kitchen stove, eating from their hot bowls. After a few bites, Xiao Chuan suddenly said, "If only my mom were like Aunt Chen."
Yun Jiao paused with her chopsticks. Yes, Mrs. Chen seemed more like a normal mother.
Worried you might be hungry, worried you might be cold, and nagging a bit here and there.
Yun Jiao’s expression softened, thinking she was lucky to have such an understanding mother-in-law as Mrs. Chen.
It’s been some time since winter came, and the weather’s getting colder.
Even in this cold, Jiang Youzhi still insisted on keeping the window open every day. Mrs. Chen reprimanded him several times, but he wouldn’t listen.
In a flash, half a month passed, and Jiang Erlang’s injuries were mostly healed.
That day, Jiang Youzhi saw from the window that Jiang Erlang came out of his room with his hands folded and walked behind the west wing.
Behind the west wing is a wall, and on the other side of the wall is Zhao Lizheng’s house.
Jiang Erlang was behind the wall for a while before there was a sound of birds chirping nearby.
The bird calls sounded urgent, one after another.
After a while, Jiang Erlang came out from behind the west wing and left.
