The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend-Chapter 698 - Upright Senior
The Small Locust Blades easily pierced through the hearts of the trio from the Magic Civilization. They fell from the sky, splatting into a mess of blood and flesh upon hitting the ground.
Their Divine Weapons appeared beside their corpses, and some of the greedy locals ran over to loot them. Both the magic wand and magic broom were rare Divine Weapons, and claiming them could change their lives.
However, the three outsiders were Han Wu’s prey, and he wasn’t about to let others steal his spoils. He stood unmoving, using his will to control the Small Locust Blades to levitate next to the three corpses and killing anyone who got too close.
In just three minutes, more than twenty Divine Weapons had fallen to the ground. Nobody approached after that. Han Wu’s message had been received.
Nevertheless, the Armament Spirit still lay by the corpses of the three outsiders. The auctioneer couldn’t imagine what would happen to him if he lost it.
Trembling violently, he called out, “May I have the name of the expert helping us?”
Han Wu ignored him, continuing to control the three Small Locust Blades above the corpses to deter any others from getting closer.
“I am the manager of the auction. The Armament Spirit is our asset. These despicable outsiders tried to plunder it. I thank the expert for bringing it back to us,” the auctioneer said, facing the Small Locust Blades.
The Small Locust Blades continued to levitate, not reacting to his words.
“Mighty expert,” the auctioneer continued. “Thank you for taking back the important Armament Spirit for us. The auction house will thank you later. If there’s nothing else, I would like to take it back, please.”
The Small Locust Blades remained motionless.
The auctioneer smiled. “Since you’ve agreed, I’ll be taking it now.”
With that, he stepped toward the Armament Spirit, and one of the Small Locust Blades sliced off his head.
The other locals took several steps back. The Small Locust Blades seemed fragile yet could slice through flesh with ease. Many feared they would become the next victim if they lingered and backed up as far as they could, but some were greedy enough not to leave. Cao Xing was one of them.
A covetous gleam shone in Cao Xing’s eyes as he stared at the high-quality Divine Weapons and the Armament Spirit before him. It all amounted to a huge sum of money. If he could get his hands on it, his family would be strengthened further!
Deciding to call in reinforcements, he ordered his guards, “Assist me in breaking those three little knives!”
The guards were terrified. The three Small Locust Blades were bizarre and deadly, floating like ghosts, exuding a threatening aura.
“Why aren’t you listening to me? If you die today, my family will protect yours, but if you don’t listen to me, I will kill you and your family as punishment. It’ll just be a matter of how soon your family is reunited with you down there!” Cao Xing threatened.
With their families’ lives on the line, the guards had no choice but to force themselves forward. The three Small Locust Blades weaved through the guards, and in just a breath, all were killed.
Unbeknownst to everybody but Han Wu, the durability of the Small Locust Blades was actually down to the single digits after so many attacks.
When Cao Xing saw his guards fall, he panicked. The Small Locust Blades were too fast for his eyes to track. Trying to claim the loot would just result in him meeting the same fate as his guards. He took a step back, then another, putting some distance between him and the three Small Locust Blades.
Unfortunately for him, Han Wu was never going to let him go. He had already promised Guan Nan to kill him.
The three Small Locust Blades moved at eccentric angles to stab him. Cao Xing was strong enough to block one, but he couldn’t block all three at the same time. Especially not when all came at him from completely different angles.
In the end, one of the Small Locust Blades pierced his chest and through his heart. Cao Xing collapsed, crashing to the ground so hard his final breath was forced out of him.
The Small Locust Blades were on the verge of breaking, but thankfully, the locals were already frightened into submission.
Han Wu gestured at Guan Nan to head down there.
Guan Nan immediately understood. Han Wu was giving him a chance to show off his courage in front of the warriors of Qixia Town. There was no reason for him to reject such an opportunity.
Stepping out of the booth, he put on a courageous front as he addressed the hovering blades. “Senior, I am Guan Nan of the Guan family in Qixia Town. I understand that you’ve attacked the outsiders to ensure our safety, and I deeply respect your justice. You’ve already killed the greedy ones eyeing your treasures. The rest of them are too afraid to try and even look at it. Please let them live.”
Deciding to make a proper performance of it, Han Wu directed the Small Locust Blades toward Guan Nan’s neck. Aware that it was an act, Guan Nan trusted that Han Wu wouldn’t kill him and didn’t avoid the Small Locust Blades, playing the role of a hero willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of others.
The Small Locust Blade stopped just before his neck. It then spiralled twice in the air to indicate that the rest could live.
“Thank you, senior, for your mercy and upright justice.” Guan Nan dipped his head in gratitude. “I will never forget this.”
He then gestured for the rest to escape.
The remaining locals had wanted to leave badly from the beginning, but stayed out of fear that they would provoke the Small Locust Blades.
With Guan Nan having pleaded for their mercy, the survivors desperately ran out of the door. Guan Nan confirmed that no one was left behind before he departed as well, giving Han Wu the time and space to collect his spoils.
After double-checking that no one remained, Han Wu went down to collect the Divine Weapons. He had killed more than thirty powerful natives, and he made sure to absorb their essence for his Divine Weapon Atlas. This brought him close to unlocking his fourth Divine Weapon.
He then sorted the Divine Weapons, allowing his three Divine Weapons to absorb those that complemented them, bringing them a large increase in rank.
The remaining Divine Weapons that he couldn’t absorb, including the three outsiders’ Divine Weapons, were wrapped in a robe alongside the Armament Spirit. Gathering up his haul, he escaped the scene.
Guan Nan was waiting for him outside and had taken measures to ensure that no one suspected him. Once they were safely back in the Guan family home, Han Wu retrieved the Divine Weapons from the robes to inspect them. After some thought, he decided to set those that didn’t complement his Divine Weapons aside to give to the Guan family.
Han Wu then moved on to the three outsiders’ Divine Weapons. Upon touching them, he could distinctly sense they were structurally different. Their Divine Weapons were a product of the Magic Civilization and the Divine Weapon Civilization. In theory, this meant Han Wu could extract the power of the Magic Civilization and infuse it into his own Divine Weapons.
He decided to ask the Will of the Divine Weapon Civilization, and it confirmed his speculations.
