The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend-Chapter 674 - Descendant of Major Gods
Jing Jing and Qin Shuang guided Han Wu to a temporary shelter that they had built. Several other souls from the Divine Civilization were also there. These were the souls that had fallen prey to the Reaper Seal while invading the Heaven Stair Civilization.
Han Wu didn’t recognize them, but they did him. After all, Han Wu was famous in the Imperial College. However, they thought Han Wu had fallen prey to the Reaper Seal instead of being here to rescue them.
“Even a genius ended up like us, trapped here without hope of escaping.”
“Quiet. He’s looking here.”
“So what? What can he do to me?”
Han Wu checked his surroundings, including the status of the other souls. Everyone present seemed to assume that no one could escape from the Soul Kingdom.
When Jing Jing saw him looking at them, she said coldly, “They’re nothing. There’s no need to take care of them.”
Han Wu shot her a helpless glance. She hadn’t changed at all in the time they had been apart. The only one she cared for was Han Wu. It was only because Han Wu worried for Qin Shuang that Jing Jing took care of her. If not, Jing Jing could’ve easily escaped the Reaper Seal with her strong soul instead of staying behind.
Still, Han Wu nodded. He wasn’t a social butterfly, and none of the other souls were interested in talking to him either, so he didn’t feel particularly obligated to help them.
As he was about to enter Jing Jing and Qin Shuang’s residence, someone stopped him. “Who told you guys to come back? Get out of this shelter!”
Han Wu frowned and asked Jing Jing, “Who is he?”
“Someone who has a death wish,” Jing Jing sneered. “Unfortunately, she doesn’t let me kill him.”
Han Wu turned to look at Qin Shuang.
Qin Shuang sighed. “We are all from the same college. Best not to go too far.”
“He’s just a descendant of a family with a Major God.” Jing Jing scoffed.
Han Wu understood Qin Shuang’s wariness. The problem wasn’t the soul before them but his family background. A family with a Major God outmatched Qin Shuang’s family. So, for the sake of her family, she had to restrain herself.
Though Han Wu understood her dilemma, he didn’t agree with her actions. Allowing someone to do as they please only brought more outrageous requests in the future. The best course of action was to take them down a peg.
Without wasting another second, Han Wu slapped the guy. He was so strong that even a light hit sent the guy headplanting into the ground.
Jing Jing's eyes lit up. This was the God she had worshiped all her life, the man she admired from the bottom of her heart!
Qin Shuang was stunned, but then she beamed as if her worries had disappeared. She had wanted to do that so badly last time.
“Who are you to attack me? Do you know who I am? Do you know who my uncle is? Do you know who my grandfather is? Do you know how strong my family is?” the guy threatened, but didn’t retaliate.
Han Wu scoffed. “I don’t know who your father, uncle, grandfather, or even your family is. But do you know who I am?”
“Why should I care?” the guy sneered, failing to realize the impending consequence of his answer.
Han Wu chuckled and slapped that guy again. The fact that he didn’t know Han Wu meant he could whack him without any repercussions.
The guy tried to retaliate, but he was no match for Han Wu’s speed. In the end, Han Wu only stopped because the guy fainted. Since they were from the same college, he didn’t want to destroy his soul, so he decided to take half his soul points as punishment. Han Wu regarded this as him being kind-hearted.
His concern even extended to worrying about the guy sleeping on the cold, hard ground, so he considerately tossed him into a mud pool. Patting the dust off his hands, he followed Jing Jing and Qin Shuang into their home.
The other souls were stunned after what they had witnessed.
“That’s amazing. He actually beat Butcher’s nephew like a dog. I've never seen anything like that before!”
“If I have a God King as my mentor, I would do the same too!”
“He’s the owner of the Blood Coliseum. That alone is enough for the God Kings to respect him. For Han Wu to personally punish Hei Qi is a blessing for Hei Qi’s family.”
“Wait, be quiet. Hei Qi is waking up. Let’s just pretend we saw nothing. Let’s go.”
As the onlookers said, Hei Qi had, in fact, roused and was furious when he realized he had been thrown into a pool of mud.
“You bastard. I’m going to kill you!” he roared, angrily rushing to the house of the two girls.
Five of Han Wu’s Black Water Clones stood guard at the door, shooting him taunting looks as if goading him to try.
Hei Qi’s cheeks burned at the reminder of Han Wu slapping him unconscious.
“Hmph! Just you wait. I’ll settle this score, or I won’t be able to call myself the descendant of the War household,” he vowed before storming off.
Inside the house, Han Wu was inquiring about Hei Qi. “Why is he targeting you two?”
“It’s because of our special powers.” Qin Shuang sighed. “The officials responsible for collecting the taxes want them, and one of the officials said we’ll have to pay extra taxes for as long as we’re here. The Venomous Snake Sect belonged to that official. They were trying to force us to give up our powers.”
“God, what will you do?” Jing Jing asked expectantly.
“Well, if we can’t solve the problem,” Han Wu said thoughtfully, “we can always just deal with the problem maker directly. I think that official in particular is problematic, don’t you?”
Jing Jing nodded. “I agree, God.”
“Han Wu, don’t be rash,” Qin Shuang urged out of worry for his safety. “The officials all have Huangquan’s protection. You’ll attract his attention if you kill them, and no one here can stop him.”
“But my God is the strongest,” Jing Jing rebuked, dissatisfied with the implication that Han Wu couldn’t handle this.
“Jing Jing, that’s only true in the outside world. I’m sure Han Wu fears no one outside, but now we’re in Huangquan’s Soul Kingdom, and Han Wu hasn’t descended here with his whole soul. We can’t win right now.”
After carefully considering their opinions, Han Wu said, “Let’s wait for the official to act. There will always be a solution.”
