The Pathway Of Wisdom-Chapter 47: We are all Equal. Part-1.
The day when Jake woke up was also the day when Alex was going to be formally announced the ’Saint’ of the god of wisdom church.
The previous ceremony was interrupted by Jake, but this time things were different!
The ceremony was held in the grand hall just like the last time.
But unlike the previous time, there were hundreds of people present, and thus they had to make everyone stand in the front garden in wait while the ceremony proceeded inside.
Alex’s previous stunt of defeating Jake easily with just his wisdom and knowledge had spread far and wide.
Due to word-of-mouth, hundreds of people had come to see him when the church announced that Alex was going to be formally declared the ’Saint’ today.
The ’duel’ was an excellent publicity stunt, and since Alex had written a letter to Zeil beforehand, he also arrived on time.
Along with him came a dozen knights who worked hard to maintain order as Zeil made it inside the grand hall of the church.
Inside were the main members of the church and dozens of devout believers of the church.
Most of the people outside were either just curious onlookers or just random people who had only recently heard about the God of Wisdom and the rumors about Alex the Saint of Wisdom.
Alex knew that some of them might start believing in the teachings of the god of wisdom; thus, he had already asked Zeil to start spreading propaganda through various kinds of rumors.
In the entire city of Ilma, rumors about Saint Alex and his amazing wisdom and knowledge had started to spread like wildfire!
Zeil sat down on the chair prepared for him in the front row with a smile on his face as his knight stood guard along with Jake and Freya.
Looking at Jake who seemed expressionless and in much better state than the last time, Zeil spoke,
"I heard you only woke up today, trainee Knight Jake Schild... How come you are already working?"
Hearing Zeil’s question, Jake replied with a calm voice,
"I am a devout believer of the god of wisdom, and certainly I would be present when such a grand event is happening..."
"Also, I have to ask for forgiveness today..."
Alex had been doing his morning exercise and thus ended up late to breakfast and ate it in his own room.
Jake couldn’t meet him at breakfast, so he had decided to take advantage of the fact that the grand ceremony of Alex being declared the saint was going to be held at noon today.
He personally helped decorate and arrange everything along with Ethan and even refused to eat breakfast, declaring that he will only eat once he is forgiven by Alex.
"Hoh... I am impressed; I took you for a stubborn guy just like the other warriors and knights are... but you are quite smart too..."
"I wonder why you even picked a fight with that cunning saint of yours..."
Zeil didn’t know that Jake was actually just as stubborn before, but after getting defeated by Alex, his mentality grew, and he became more open-minded and better at handling himself.
Just when Jake was about to reply to Zeil’s words, Ethan called him over to explain that Alex was about to arrive and he should get ready.
The old pope also arrived shortly after and stood below the giant damaged statue of the god of wisdom in wait.
Seeing the old pope, Zeil went over to greet him and stopped caring about Jake.
He was not interested in teasing a small trainee knight who wasn’t even a proper knight as of yet and was just an ordinary human.
Zeil already had dozens of loyal veteran knights working for him, so he wasn’t interested in recruiting Jake at all, as he knew that Alex had his eyes on Jake.
"Greetings, Pope. I am Zeil Von Ilma, the third son of the current head of the Ilma family. It’s been a while since I met you..."
"I remember that I came to visit you a long time ago when I was young..." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
The old pope smiled at Zeil and replied in a calm and gentle voice,
"Haha, you must be mistaken, young man. I only became a pope only a few years ago. you must have met the previous pope when you were young..."
"But I appreciate you visiting again. our benevolent god does not forget any of his devout believers; if you pray to him, he will surely grant you his blessings..."
Zeil didn’t mind that he was mistaken; instead, he smiled before asking,
"haha, I must be mistaken then... by the way, I wanted to ask you about the ancient holy artifacts of the church..."
"I have always been curious about them..."
Zeil just wanted to kill some time, so he just started asking about random topics so as to pass time and wait for Alex to arrive.
"Oho~ You must have read the holy book of our church to know about the existence of the ancient holy artifacts of the church..."
"In this day and age, rarely anyone reads the holy book of our church so thoroughly; as a reward to your devotion, let me explain about the holy artifacts to you..."
The old pope smiled and spoke with a gentle voice.
"Holy artifacts are what our benevolent god blesses us with so that we mortals can better understand and comprehend his faith and his teachings..."
"The God of Wisdom church’s greatest ancient artifact and relic is the grand library situated at the core of the church..."
"Aside from that, there are also mentions of an ancient artifact called, the ’Book of Intertwined Destinies’, that can tell you anything and everything that you want to know about the destiny of any person in the world..."
"Its existence has been mentioned in many texts and myths but we currently have no idea where it is at the moment... But I believe it is still hidden somewhere in the grand library itself..."
The topic was quite interesting, and Zeil didn’t even notice when time went by.
