The Only Spatial Ability User In The Apocalypse-Chapter 68 Black Mist
Sylas could still feel the eyes on him throughout the fight. He frowned and once again scanned the surroundings with his senses but couldn’t find it.
Sylas left the area and headed back.
Major Kyle and the others quickly dealt with the low-level zombies and finally saw what they were surrounding.
It was the remains of humans, and it looked like they had just died. Red blood dyed the road, and severed limbs were scattered. Brain matter was spilled on the road along with flesh and blood.
The visual was disturbing.
"Oh my God!"
"These people seem to be survivors too."
"Looks like they just died now."
"If we had gotten here earlier, they might have been saved."
Blegh!
The soldiers and ability users discussed, and some even retched and vomited upon seeing it.
When Sylas arrived, Major Kyle turned to him and asked, "Did you just fight with something?"
Sylas nodded and said, "Some mutated stray dogs." He didn’t say much, and Major Kyle didn’t ask more.
Sylas cleared the blocked road and said to Major Kyle, "Major, I can feel watchful eyes on us. We have to leave quickly."
Major Kyle didn’t doubt Sylas since Sylas’s senses were the strongest among them all.
"Alright. Quick, everyone, get inside the car," Major Kyle said.
Sylas stood aside as the cars started their engines. When Major Kyle’s car started moving, Sylas immediately raised his head and saw a pair of eyes looking at them from a building window on the side of the road.
’High-level zombie.’
’Not good!’
Sylas’s pupils constricted as he jumped up onto the roof of Major Kyle’s car before shouting, "Major, hurry and leave. There is a high-level zombie. I will hold it back."
"No, we will assist you," Major Kyle immediately said as he tried to get out of the car.
"Stop! Don’t!"
"If you stay back, all the survivors will have to stay back, and it will only hold me back. In the worst case, we might all die," Sylas said as he fixed his gaze on the pair of red eyes watching them from the window.
If the high-level zombie released its mental attack, Sylas wouldn’t be able to protect all of them. He could only protect himself with his space barrier. So, the best option right now was to face the zombie himself. Moreover, the zombie seemed to be fixated on him.
The watchful eyes he had been feeling belonged to this high-level zombie. Sylas felt that the zombie was stronger than him.
Dylan and Serena were also about to get out, but Sylas used his space ability to block them. The car doors wouldn’t budge.
"Just leave."
"Hurry, before it’s too late!"
Sylas shouted, urging them to leave quickly.
Major Kyle immediately said, "Everyone, listen to Sylas. We are leaving. Sylas, we will wait for you in N City’s safe zone. You have to come back."
Major Kyle said in a serious tone.
"Brother," Dudu, who had just gotten up, suddenly called out.
Serena held him and said, "Your brother will be back soon."
"Go," Sylas shouted as he jumped up and landed on an abandoned truck.
The zombie didn’t make a move; it just watched them silently.
The cars sped past, and when all the cars left, the zombie finally made a move.
It jumped down from the window and landed in front of Sylas.
Sylas frowned subtly. From the beginning, the zombie’s target seemed to be him.
Sylas suddenly remembered the high-level zombie in Pinewood Town. That high-level zombie also seemed to have targeted him when he recalled it carefully.
’What about me attracted them?’ Sylas thought as he slowly gathered space energy in his hands.
The high-level zombie was dressed in a blood-stained white dress. Its long hair covered half of its ghastly face, and its exposed limbs were purplish blue.
The high-level zombie twisted its head at an odd angle, and its teeth started chattering. Black mist began to emit from its body and swirl around it.
Sylas waved his hand, and a spatial blade shot out. At the same time, a space barrier formed around his body.
When the spatial blade reached the zombie, the black mist blocked it.
The space ability scattered the moment it touched the black mist.
The zombie didn’t even flinch.
Sylas’s eyes narrowed slightly at the sight.
The black mist continued to swirl around the high-level zombie’s body like a living thing, protecting it from attacks. It was like a defensive barrier.
The black mist crept across the ground slowly and crawled toward Sylas’s feet.
The high-level zombie tilted its head again and opened its mouth. Then, a shrill, piercing sound rang out from the zombie’s mouth.
Sylas’s vision shook violently. A stabbing pain exploded inside his head, as if invisible needles were drilling into his brain. Sylas staggered back, gritting his teeth.
Mental attack!
The high-level zombie was using a mental attack.
Sylas instantly reinforced his space barrier. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Buzz...
The mental attack slammed into the space barrier, distorting it slightly. Even so, a portion still leaked through.
Sylas felt nausea surge up. Blood trickled from his nose.
"So strong..." Sylas thought. This mental attack was stronger than the one in Pinewood Town.
The zombie slowly lifted one foot and took a step forward. With each step the zombie took, the pressure on Sylas’s mind intensified. His heartbeat sped up uncontrollably. Sylas clenched his fists hard enough for his nails to cut into his palms.
Pain...
It snapped him back.
"Trying to break me mentally?"
Sylas raised his hand.
A compressed spatial blade condensed, thinner and sharper than before.
Slash!
The blade shot out, slicing straight toward the zombie’s head. The black mist surged violently and wrapped around the blade like tendrils.
Crack!
The blade shattered. The zombie’s head twisted unnaturally, and its mouth stretched wider, making strange noises. Its red eyes glowed brighter as it glared at Sylas.
The mental attack intensified.
Sylas felt his knees bend slightly, and his space barrier trembled.
’Direct attacks won’t work...’
Sylas quickly retreated, increasing the distance between them. At the same time, he flicked his fingers. Spatial blades formed in multiple directions.
Slash! Slash! Slash!
The blades came from different angles, aiming for the zombie’s blind spots.
The black mist reacted instantly. It expanded like a thick wall, blocking all the spatial blades.
Sylas’s expression turned solemn at the sight.
The zombie raised its arm, and the black mist started to condense around its fingers. Then it thrust its hand forward.
Boom!
A wave of black mist surged toward Sylas like a tidal wave.
Sylas’s pupils shrank, and he stomped his foot. Earth energy surged out, and an earth wall instantly shot up from the ground in front of the space barrier. Two barriers formed in front of him.
Bang!
The mist collided with the earth wall barrier, eating into it like acid. The earth wall barrier started to crack.
Sylas gritted his teeth, and the earth wall started to repair itself as more stones and earth surged out from the ground.
But the black mist was too strong.
Crack!
The earth wall barrier shattered, and the black mist slammed into the space barrier.
Sylas was thrown backward, smashing into an overturned car.
Cough!
Sylas spat out a mouthful of blood.
His head rang, and before he could recover, the zombie vanished from his sight.
Too fast!
Sylas instantly raised a space barrier around himself.
Bang!!!
The zombie appeared behind him and smashed into the barrier with terrifying strength. The barrier cracked immediately.
Sylas reinforced his space barrier, but the mental attack still affected him.
Buzz...
A direct mental strike.
Sylas’s vision went black for a split second, and pain exploded in his skull. His ears rang, and his breathing became ragged.
Sylas forced himself to stand. Blood dripped from his chin onto the cracked road. His space energy was being consumed rapidly. Fighting defensively like this was draining him.
The zombie stood in front of him, its black mist trying to corrode the space barrier.
Sylas gritted his teeth and stood up. Then he slowly raised his hand.
The zombie tilted its head, watching him curiously.
Space rippled.
Instead of forming a blade, Sylas tore open several small distortions in the air. A Thin, unstable cracks in space.
Spatial rifts.
But incomplete.
The zombie reacted instantly. It felt immense danger from the spatial rifts. The black mist surged toward the rifts like a living organism, trying to cover them.
But the moment the mist touched the rifts, it started to devour it quickly.
The zombie froze.
’It’s working...’ Sylas thought.
But Sylas’s vision blurred immediately. The rifts were unstable, and his space energy plummeted. Opening spatial rifts was not easy. Blood streamed from his nose and ears. He clenched his teeth, trying to hold the spatial rifts.
’Can’t hold them for long.’
The zombie screeched and an ear-piercing shriek filled the street. A massive mental shockwave blasted outward.
Sylas felt like his brain was being crushed and his knees hit the ground.
Crack!
The spatial rifts began destabilizing.
Sylas clenched his teeth and slammed his palm into the ground and pushed himself back up.
