The Only Spatial Ability User In The Apocalypse-Chapter 58 High-level mutated animal
Sylas sensed a presence moving in his direction.
He immediately stopped pumping the fuel from the underground fuel tank.
He slowly stood up straight, his senses alert. Everything around him was silent. The presence he sensed was coming toward him, but there was no noise.
To be able to approach him without making a sound was not something a normal creature would be capable of. If his senses were not sharp enough, he would have been caught off guard.
Within a minute, Sylas finally saw a pair of eyes emerge in the darkness. They were glowing golden. Then, Sylas saw its full body.
"A lynx? No, it should be a mutated cat," Sylas thought when he saw the creature.
The cat’s fur was black in color, blending completely into the darkness. Its body was larger than that of a normal cat. Its gait was light as it slowly approached Sylas, its eyes fixed on him.
The mutated cat suddenly stopped advancing and lowered its body slightly.
Both Sylas and the mutated cat locked eyes.
Then the cat moved. It vanished from its spot in an instant, its body blurring as it lunged straight at Sylas’s throat. Sylas’s pupils shrank. He raised his hand instinctively, and a space barrier formed inches before his neck.
Bang!
The impact was violent, and the space barrier trembled as the cat slammed into it. The mutated cat’s claws screeched against the space barrier. Sylas stepped back several steps because of the force, his shoes scraping against the concrete.
"So fast!" Sylas thought as he stabilized his footing.
The mutated cat twisted its body midair and landed lightly on the ground. The moment its paws touched the earth, the ground surged.
Crack!
A jagged spike of stone erupted beneath Sylas’s feet.
Sylas quickly reacted and leaped sideways. The stone spike tore through the spot where he had just been standing.
"Earth ability," Sylas thought, surprised.
This was the second time he had come across a mutated animal with an earth ability, but this one was stronger, much stronger than the mutated rat with an earth ability he had encountered.
Sylas avoided the stone spike and pivoted as he flicked his wrist.
A spatial blade shot out and headed straight at the mutated cat. The cat was agile, and it easily dodged Sylas’s spatial blade. Its body folded and twisted unnaturally as the spatial blade sliced past, cutting a nearby pillar in half.
The concrete pillar came crashing down, and dust filled the air.
The cat used the moment of obscured vision to attack again. Sylas felt it and turned sharply as he immediately raised his barrier just as the cat struck from his blind spot.
Missing the target, the cat growled as it glared at Sylas. Then the ground beneath Sylas’s feet suddenly softened.
"Not good!" Sylas thought.
The earth became unstable, crumbling like loose sand. Sylas almost lost his footing for a split second.
The mutated cat lunged at Sylas at the same time, its sharp, metal-like claws aimed at him.
Sylas gritted his teeth and slammed his foot down, forcefully reinforcing the ground with a thin spatial layer to stabilize himself. At the same time, he thrust his palm forward. A spatial blade burst out, attacking the mutated cat.
The mutated cat nimbly twisted its head aside, but the spatial blade still grazed its cheek.
The mutated cat hissed sharply and retreated, landing several meters away from Sylas. For the first time, its movements showed some hesitation.
Sylas steadied his breathing.
The mutated cat was strong and smart. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
The mutated cat snarled and slammed its paw into the ground.
Boom!
The earth around Sylas exploded upward. Broken concrete, soil, and stones shot into the air like shrapnel. Sylas immediately spread his space barrier wider, blocking the debris as it slammed against him from all directions.
The impact drained his energy rapidly.
Before the dust even settled, Sylas felt danger from below. He instinctively leaped upward.
A massive stone pillar erupted from the ground beneath him, narrowly missing his legs. While still midair, Sylas waved his hand downward.
Three spatial blades shot out, aimed at the mutated cat. The mutated cat reacted quickly, raising a thick earthen wall in front of itself. The earth barrier blocked the spatial blades.
They failed to penetrate the earthen barrier.
The cat charged immediately after. It ran along the wall, kicked off it, and launched itself toward Sylas again.
Sylas landed and rolled, barely avoiding its sharp claws.
The sharp and metallic claws of the mutated cat gouged deep marks into the ground where he had just been.
"If this keeps going, I’ll lose on stamina," Sylas thought with a grave expression on his face.
Sylas narrowed his eyes, and he changed tactics.
Sylas quickly got up and rushed forward.
He closed the distance between them as spatial blades rushed out from his body.
The cat sensed the danger and tried to retreat, but Sylas was not going to let it go.
Slash!
The blade cut across the cat’s shoulder, severing muscle and bone.
The mutated cat let out a furious howl and slammed both paws into the ground. The earth surged violently, and several sharp stones flew straight at Sylas.
The spatial blade around Sylas blocked all the attacks.
Sylas thrust his palm forward, and a compressed spatial blade erupted directly from his hand.
The spatial blade was so fast that the mutated cat was caught off guard. The blade pierced straight through the mutated cat’s chest.
The mutated cat froze, and its golden eyes flickered.
Blood spilled out, and its body slowly collapsed onto the ground, lifeless.
Sylas stood in the darkness with both hands on his knees, breathing heavily. The space energy fluctuated faintly around him before slowly calming down.
After confirming that the mutated cat was truly dead, Sylas approached and cut open its head. He picked up the brown-colored energy stone from its head and looked at it. It was bigger than a marble and glowed faintly in the dark.
"A high-level mutated animal," Sylas thought.
Sylas looked at it for a few seconds and tossed it inside his space. But the moment it entered, Sylas felt a noticeable change in his space.
