The Omega Is Pregnant-Chapter 47
“Stop it.”
Kang In-hyuk made it clear that he no longer wanted to continue the conversation, but Han Mi-sun was relentless. Her mind, already in turmoil because of Tae-seo, glared at her son with narrowed eyes.
“Why can’t you let go of Seo Da-rae? What is it about her that’s shaking you up so much? I really don’t get it.”
The more Han Mi-sun spoke, the more Kang In-hyuk’s face stiffened. His gaze briefly shifted to the room before returning. Not wanting to meet her eyes, he lowered his gaze, where a pile of papers on the table was as disorganized as his thoughts.
Kang In-hyuk frowned and bit down on the inside of his cheek. The sharp pain seemed to pull his blurry thoughts back into focus. Right now, Seo Da-rae, who was waiting in the room, came first. That was the priority... for now.
“We’ll talk about it later.”
“Later? What’s there to talk about? Did I say something wrong?”
“Just please, later.”
Kang In-hyuk’s tone grew more irritated, and the conversation between them became more pointed. The tension in the air thickened as their expressions hardened, and the atmosphere turned tense.
“If you have time to talk, why don’t you pay attention to Tae-seo? Go check his pheromones, talk to him.”
“I’ll handle my own matters.”
“You don’t even know that Tae-seo has manifested, do you?”
Han Mi-sun clicked her tongue, staring at Kang In-hyuk in disappointment. She hadn’t planned on having such a harsh conversation with her son, but the moment she saw Seo Da-rae’s name, all her pent-up anger was directed at Kang In-hyuk.
“He manifested...?”
Kang In-hyuk snapped, then quickly bit his lip to stop himself. It was frustrating to be scolded for not knowing about Tae-seo’s manifestation, but there was no point in arguing further.
Kang In-hyuk was the first to back down. He decided it would be better to walk away from this conversation rather than continue it.
“Is that all you have to say?”
He wanted to send her away and have some time to think alone. The hunger that had been gnawing at him earlier had disappeared without a trace.
Right now, all he wanted was for her to leave. But asking the question seemed to have been a mistake.
“Tae-seo and I will get engaged. So, hurry up and deal with him.”
“Mom!”
When Han Mi-sun refused to let go of the topic of Seo Da-rae, the situation quickly spiraled out of control. Kang In-hyuk, who had been holding back earlier, stood up, raising his voice.
“Yeah, I’m your son. I’ve been by your side all this time. So, listen to me.”
Han Mi-sun stood up, grabbing her handbag. She had clearly come here to say this from the start. Despite Kang In-hyuk’s resentful gaze, she didn’t flinch. In fact, it seemed like she had made up her mind to act this way.
“Who you like is your business, but think logically. Who is really going to help you?”
Having finished what she wanted to say, Han Mi-sun looked like she was ready to leave. She held her handbag tightly against her arm, raising her chin and walking past Kang In-hyuk without offering him a second glance.
The heavy sound of the front door closing echoed in the room as Kang In-hyuk let out a long sigh. The conversation with his mother had gripped his chest and hadn’t let go. It seemed like it was loosening slightly, but the words she had left him with squeezed his heart all over again.
“Tae-seo... manifested, huh?”
Kang In-hyuk let out a dry laugh.
“All that time wanting to become an Omega, and he finally did.”
Should he congratulate him? He had thought it was too late for Tae-seo to manifest, that he’d never become an Omega. What was so important about it that his mother had to come and pressure him like this? And yet, he hadn’t been able to just let it slide.
But the forced smile quickly faded. Tae-seo had manifested? He hadn’t felt any pheromones from him. But when did he manifest? Why hadn’t Tae-seo told him? The name ‘Tae-seo’ filled his mind.
“Manifested... and still...”
When Kang In-hyuk spoke objectively about Tae-seo’s situation, it was one thing, but now his words were full of raw emotions. Shouldn’t he have told him that he had manifested? If there had been a heat, he should have told Kang In-hyuk so he could help him. What if another Alpha discovered it first?
“Another Alpha...”
Kang In-hyuk pressed his forehead, then turned away. His thoughts were now completely occupied with Tae-seo.
“In-hyuk. Where are you going?”
Seo Da-rae, who had come out of her room, grabbed Kang In-hyuk’s arm.
“Oh, I’m meeting someone.”
“Is it urgent?”
“A little.”
He had been worried that Da-rae might get hurt by his mother’s sharp words. He had hoped that Da-rae wouldn’t hear her voice. But now... he had forgotten about her, consumed by thoughts of Tae-seo.
“I’m sorry... it’ll only be a minute. So...”
Kang In-hyuk gently held Da-rae’s hand, pulling it away. When she pushed his hand away, Da-rae’s gaze lingered on his hand.
“I’ll be back soon.”
The invitation to dinner they had planned together had already evaporated. Kang In-hyuk’s mind, detached from everything else, focused only on where he had to go. Realizing this, Da-rae spoke with difficulty.
“...Are you going to meet Tae-seo?”
Da-rae’s voice was faint, as if it would break at any moment. She didn’t want to ask, but she couldn’t hold herself back. She desperately hoped that Kang In-hyuk wouldn’t be going to meet Tae-seo. Please.
Da-rae didn’t dare look at him. She didn’t want him to see her completely undone expression.
“No.”
Maybe her wish was granted. Kang In-hyuk gave her a faint smile. He patted Da-rae’s rounded shoulder.
“I’m not going to meet Tae-seo. Just give me a moment.”
“You’re not involved with him, right?”
“I’ll be back soon.”
Kang In-hyuk turned his body away from Da-rae. The door opened, and the outside breeze rushed in. The wind brushed past Da-rae. The unusually warm weather made the breeze feel particularly cold, but perhaps it was just Da-rae’s imagination.
“In-hyuk.”
Her voice echoed in the empty space. She inhaled the pheromones lingering in the living room and let out a sigh.
“Even if Tae-seo has become an Omega, you shouldn’t care.”
What did it matter if he became an Omega? Da-rae wiped her dry face as she thought about the conversation she had overheard between him and his mother.
“How could you make such a choice after I took your hand? Why are you shaking the decision I made so hard?”
Doesn’t he realize how uneasy this is making me?
“I’m not letting you go.”
No matter what, I want you by my side.

“I’ve rescheduled everything.”
“Good job.”
“I’ve pulled out the important parts and organized them. I’ve saved them in a separate file, so you can just check that.”
As he listened to his secretary’s report, Kang Se-heon loosened his tie. Staring calmly at his reflection in the mirror, he suddenly lifted the corners of his mouth. The conversation he had with Tae-seo before they parted came to mind. «N.o.v.e.l.i.g.h.t» Tae-seo had asked him when his vacation was, which led to him adjusting his schedule. Despite the inconvenience, next week now felt something to look forward to.
“Well, I’ll head back now.”
“Alright.”
With a light farewell, the secretary left the dressing room, and Kang Se-heon finished changing. Just as the doorbell rang, Kang Se-heon tilted his head. He thought the secretary must have forgotten something and returned.
“What a talent for making work more complicated.”
He had thought the secretary was competent, but it hadn’t even been that long before the doorbell rang again. If they’d been given the password, it would’ve been easy for them to just come in, but the secretary wasn’t Tae-seo. Kang Se-heon, clearly irritated, walked to the door and opened it.
When the door opened, he saw an unexpected face, and he leaned one shoulder against the doorframe.
“Did you run here?”
Panting heavily, Kang In-hyuk wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. It would’ve been better to wipe the sweat from his temples.
“If you’re bringing more papers, just go back.”
“I came to talk.”
“If you’re here to talk business, I’d rather you just leave.”
The truth was, Kang Se-heon really didn’t want Kang In-hyuk coming into his house. Kang Se-heon made no effort to hide his feelings, but Kang In-hyuk pushed past him and entered.
“In-hyuk, I’m really tired.”
“Is the person you’re talking about, Tae-seo?”
“Is that what you came to ask?”
While Kang Se-heon opened the fridge to get some water, Kang In-hyuk’s eyes never left him.
“Do you know if Tae-seo...”
Kang In-hyuk wanted to ask if Kang Se-heon knew that Tae-seo was an Omega, but the words never came out. Something about saying that felt like confirming the fact that Tae-seo had manifested, and if Kang Se-heon already knew, it felt like confirmation in itself.
Unable to think of what to say, Kang In-hyuk moved his head awkwardly. Then he looked at Kang Se-heon’s expression and was struck by the realization. Was he... so calm about this? He seemed to know everything, as if there was no question left to ask.
Does Kang Se-heon know that Tae-seo is an Omega? No, even if he doesn’t, his attitude made it seem like the whole idea of Tae-seo’s condition didn’t matter to him.
“You come here late at night, talking about Tae-seo, and my In-hyuk is taking care of people so well.”
Kang Se-heon gestured toward the front door with a look that seemed to ask when Kang In-hyuk was going to leave. He really wished he would leave now.
“Don’t be sarcastic. I just don’t like the idea of you playing with Tae-seo.”
“Playing with him...”
Kang Se-heon twirled the half-empty water bottle in his hand. As he watched the swirl form inside the bottle, he smiled faintly. Playing with Tae-seo? He was the one stuck in the vortex Tae-seo had created, unable to escape.
“I never thought I’d be saying this at my age, In-hyuk. I’ll take care of it myself.”
“Don’t brush it off like that. You’re telling me not to mess with Tae-seo, right?”
Kang In-hyuk hated the casual demeanor Kang Se-heon always had. If Kang Se-heon knew about Tae-seo’s manifestation and was just playing around with him, he couldn’t just stand by.
“Do you even know what kind of relationship I have with him?”
“What kind of relationship is that?”
Kang In-hyuk opened his mouth to shout but quickly closed it. Friends? College classmates? Or maybe family friends? None of that was helpful in the current situation. In fact, he couldn’t even be sure if they were friends.
What is my relationship with Tae-seo?
As Kang In-hyuk turned his head to hide his confusion, Kang Se-heon’s indifferent voice rang out.
“You can’t even call him a friend, can you?”
“That’s...”
“The relationship between Tae-seo and me isn’t something you need to concern yourself with.”
Kang Se-heon drew a clear line between himself and his cousin. His tone was so firm, as if Kang In-hyuk had no right to interfere, and Kang In-hyuk quietly bit the inside of his cheek.
He wanted to argue, but his mind was empty. His frustration was rising, but he couldn’t find a way to release it.
Kang Se-heon set the empty water bottle on the table. The conversation with Kang In-hyuk was unnecessary to him now. As he passed by Kang In-hyuk, he threw one last line.
“People’s lives are unpredictable, right?”
