The Obsessive Tycoon Claims the Deserted Heiress-Chapter 38 - 0: Meng Family demands one of her hands
Chapter 38 - 038: Meng Family demands one of her hands
"They say they found his mark at the scene." Xu Linchuan opened the photo album, holding it slightly up to show them the picture.
Every time the Prince of Divine Thief committed a crime, he would leave a yellow star with a smiley face symbol on the windowsill, and coincidentally, the Meng Family happened to have an identical symbol.
Because of this, everyone unquestioningly assumed it was the work of the Prince of Divine Thief.
Shi Wei scrutinized the symbol from the Xiao Family's exhibition hall and compared it to the one at the Meng Family for quite some time, but found nothing unusual.
Whether it was laziness or something else, the symbol she left behind was overly simplistic and easy to imitate.
Shi Wei handed the phone back to Xu Linchuan, pinched the bridge of his nose, and let out a sigh. The little girl really brought him trouble.
"Master Shi, did you notice anything?" Xu Linchuan raised his eyebrows.
With his years of experience, he hadn't found any flaws. If Shi Wei could figure out something just by comparing the symbols, then he could wash his hands of it and quit.
Shi Wei shook his head and asked, "What did the Meng Family say? Have they reported it to the police?"
"Yes, but..." Xu Linchuan leaned forward slightly and lowered his voice, "I heard the Meng Family issued a statement demanding one hand from the Prince of Divine Thief."
"Demand what?" Shi Wei snorted coldly, his entire aura turning sharp and oppressive in an instant.
He gripped the armrest of the chair tightly, as if suppressing something. "Say that again, let me hear?"
His reaction was excessively intense, making the others immediately sense something amiss with just one glance.
Xu Linchuan frowned slightly, shedding his usual carefree demeanor and adopting a more serious expression, "What's wrong with you?"
Shi Wei didn't answer. His gaze grew darker, as deep and inscrutable as black obsidian under the night.
He pressed down the violence surging in his heart with great effort and repeated, "The Meng Family wants her hand, right?"
"I guess... so," Xu Linchuan replied, faltering under Shi Wei's icy stare. He then cautiously tested the waters, "Do you know the Prince of Divine Thief—"
Before he could finish speaking, someone beside him grabbed his arm, stopping him.
Lin Qingyan shot him a sharp glare. Couldn't he tell Brother Wei was in a bad mood? Why did he still feel the need to poke the bear?
"You have two days to investigate this thoroughly," Shi Wei stood up and fixed Xu Linchuan with an unwavering stare. His tone carried an undeniable command, brimming with authority and dominance.
After delivering this line, he walked to the coat rack, took down his suit jacket, and left Lanting Square without looking back.
"Did you hear what he just said?" Xu Linchuan glanced at the others incredulously, "He actually told me to investigate?!"
This was the first time he'd ever seen Shi Wei react so strongly toward someone outside of the Shi Family.
Not only was he angry, but he even asked him to investigate...
So, Shi Wei needed his help for once. The feeling was surprisingly nice.
"Do you think Brother Wei might be a fan of the Prince of Divine Thief?" Jin Yunzhi mused, equally puzzled. It was the only reason he could think of.
Xu Linchuan clicked his tongue, "Hard to say, but it's not impossible."
The two of them excitedly discussed this for quite some time, while Lin Qingyan quietly sipped her tea without saying a word.
She took a small sip, then turned her head to glance thoughtfully in the direction Shi Wei had left.

Yu Zhi came straight home after school and went up to the second floor, knocking on the study room door.
She casually tossed her backpack onto the sofa, sat across from Yu Baisheng, and lightly tapped her fingers against the armrest, her manner indifferent.
"Little Zhi, what do you need from Dad?" Yu Baisheng put down the document in his hand and looked at her through his glasses with a trace of suspicion.
Since he brought her back home, the two of them had probably only spent less than an hour in private.
Although several times he had wanted to have a heartfelt talk with her, seeing her cold and detached demeanor always kept him from saying anything.
"Where are her belongings?" Yu Zhi cut straight to the point, wasting no time on idle chatter.
"You mean your mother's belongings?" Yu Baisheng frowned slightly, his sharp eyes flickering with uncertainty, "Why did you suddenly bring this up?"
His lips curved in a faint smile, a kindly expression on his face.
Yu Zhi lowered her gaze and rubbed her wristwatch, "They're things she left for me."
She kept her head down, and Yu Baisheng couldn't see her expression, missing the storm brewing in her eyes.
Awkwardly chuckling, he replied, "The company has been very busy lately, it's my fault. I completely forgot about it."
Yu Baisheng removed his glasses, pulled a key out from the drawer, and handed it to Yu Zhi, "Everything is at your mother's graveyard."
"The graveyard?" Yu Zhi's eyes revealed a trace of sarcasm as she raised her eyebrows, "Is that your idea?"
This sprawling Yu Residence couldn't even accommodate her belongings?
"Little Zhi..." Yu Baisheng sighed deeply and leaned wearily against his chair, "Many things aren't as simple as they seem. Dad just didn't want the pain of seeing her belongings constantly."
His eyes overflowed with sadness, as if weighed down by guilt and remorse.
If there had been even half a shred of genuine guilt or remorse, none of this would be happening now.
Yu Zhi had no desire to listen to his self-righteous excuses. She slid the key into her pocket, didn't spare him another glance, and prepared to leave.
Seeing her stand up, Yu Baisheng hurriedly called out, "Little Zhi, when are you going? I'll have Wu Lang accompany you."
"Not necessary," Yu Zhi scoffed inwardly, not giving him another chance to speak before swiftly walking away.
In her bedroom.
Yu Zhi locked the door, took some candies from a glass jar, and sat down at the low table.
As she powered on her computer, a screen full of flashing red circles immediately popped up.
"What is it?" Yu Zhi asked while playing with the candy wrapper, glancing coolly at Ruan Yuanyi.
Earlier in the afternoon, the other party had called several times, but she'd missed them because of class.
Ruan Yuanyi sat on the balcony, surrounded by toppled empty bottles of alcohol. With the vibrant city lights behind her, she appeared strangely desolate.
"I need your help." Her voice was hoarse, like it had been strained from excessive smoking and drinking.
Given her current state, it was clear something was off.
"What happened?" Yu Zhi tossed the candy wrapper aside and looked at the screen with concern.
Ruan Yuanyi chuckled and shook her head, "I need you to fetch something for me." freewebnσvel.cѳm
"What is it?"
"Hair."
"..."
Ruan Yuanyi was the first friend Yu Zhi had made upon arriving in this world. Their personalities clicked, and they'd partnered up on several occasions.
But this was the first time she had sought her help for a personal matter.
Considering her current state, Yu Zhi quickly deduced the situation. Choosing not to ask further, she instructed her to send over the necessary information.
"When do you need it?" Yu Zhi unwrapped another piece of candy and popped it into her mouth.
