The Obsessive Tycoon Claims the Deserted Heiress-Chapter 161 - 160: Grandpa has gotten into big trouble
Chapter 161: 160: Grandpa has gotten into big trouble
Shi Yin paused for a moment, then turned his head cautiously to glance at the man by his side exhaling white smoke. "Maybe we should let him try first?"
Shi Wei exchanged looks with Xu Linchuan for a few seconds and nodded. "Alright."
If they could help the girl resolve even one issue, it was worth it—getting her out of her identity as the Yu Family’s second daughter quickly was the top priority for now.
"Little Zhi, doesn’t that mean Yunzhi would become your brother?" Ruan Yuan, sensing the atmosphere was too heavy, switched topics to lighten the mood.
She pointed at the boy grinning radiantly while throwing stones into the stream. "He’s so adorable—you’re definitely getting the better end of the deal."
"He’s more like a younger brother." The young girl’s lips curved into a subtle smile.
She didn’t dislike Jin Yunzhi. On the contrary, when she found out they were blood-related, she felt a sense of relief.
"Indeed." Seeing her smile, Shi Wei’s dark emotions seemed to dissipate as well.
He leaned his chin against her shoulder, taking in the faint sweet scent unique to her. "He should call Mrs. Shi *sister-in-law*."
This "Mrs. Shi," coupled with the surrounding teasing glances, caused the girl’s cheeks to flush a deep red as she lowered her head in embarrassment.
She lightly tugged at the man’s sleeve, murmuring softly, "We’re not married yet."
"Sooner or later, Mrs. Shi." Shi Wei let out a low, husky chuckle from his throat.
Pressed close against each other, his raven-like lashes brushed lightly against the fine hairs on her face, sparking a delicate itch.
"When’s the wedding?" Ruan Yuan, her gaze filled with envy as she looked at the sweet couple, raised her left hand slightly. "I’m reserving a spot as the maid of honor first."
Shi Wei: "Next year, after she graduates."
"Then I’m reserving the best man spot, and make sure the wedding favors are top-notch!"
Xu Linchuan chimed in, counting off examples on his fingers, "Like a house, a car, some land..."
"..."
The previously heavy atmosphere gradually lightened as everyone began humorously demanding lavish wedding gifts from the couple.
By the time they left the stream and returned to the hotel, it was already nearing 3 PM.
Jin Yunzhi, holding Little Strawberry, glanced at the mess of clothes piled haphazardly on the sofa and bed, letting out a long sigh.
Dragging out a travel bag, he began stuffing everything inside willy-nilly without folding.
Eventually, the bag became packed to the brim, yet a few pieces of clothing still lay quietly on the sofa.
"Brother Fan!" Jin Yunzhi dropped the travel bag in frustration, his lips pouting as he jogged into the living room.
Calling the man several times, he searched every corner of the house but still couldn’t find that familiar figure.
Furrowing his brows in confusion, he absently squeezed Little Strawberry in his arms. Then, as if a thought struck him, he hurriedly dashed out of the room.
He went straight to where Xu Linchuan was staying and was about to push open the ajar door, but stopped as he overheard the conversation inside.
"I’m not sure if Yunzhi would be able to accept this," Xu Fan leaned tiredly against the sofa, his eyes filled with unresolved worry.
Once the Jin Family decided to formally acknowledge their relatives, it would mean Yu Zhi would officially return to the Jin Family as well.
Though Yunzhi usually behaved well and had a carefree personality, you could never predict how someone might react to such matters.
"Brother, you’re overthinking it." Xu Linchuan, smoking leisurely with his legs propped up on the coffee table, patted Xu Fan’s shoulder and chuckled. "That kid will probably be overjoyed when he finds out Yu Zhi is his biological cousin."
Xu Fan fell silent for a moment, rubbing his temples and exhaling deeply. "Maybe you’re right."
"Alright, I’ll ask Grandpa about it tonight..."
"..."
The boy standing outside the door didn’t listen to the rest of the conversation.
He tiptoed back to his room, leaned against the doorframe, gazing at the ceiling, and blinked his eyes twice.
He stayed dazed like this for quite some time before snapping out of his wandering thoughts.
"Sister..." He whispered the word softly, and the light in his eyes grew ever brighter.
Like fireflies dancing in the night sky, their luminous glow illuminated an entire broad path ahead.
**
Jin Family.
Gentle, cheerful piano music floated through the grand hall.
A middle-aged man, around forty or so, sat on an ornate European-style sofa, holding a coffee cup and a newspaper, engrossed in his reading.
"Dad!" A burst of sound interrupted him, pulling him out of the serenity of the piano tune and making the coffee cup in his hand shake slightly.
Jin Zhuoming looked up and saw the boy sprinting toward him like a gust of wind, hauling a travel bag and clutching a strawberry-shaped pillow.
"Running around in such a hurry—what does that look like?" He shook his newspaper twice and shot the boy a calm glance.
Switching to lecturing mode, he said, "How many times have I told you? Stay composed and steady in all situations!"
Jin Yunzhi, panting slightly, grabbed the glass of plain water on the coffee table and gulped it down in one go.
Once his breathing steadied, he snatched the newspaper from Jin Zhuoming’s hand, sneaking a glance upstairs as if someone might overhear. "Is Grandpa around?"
"Out for a walk." Jin Zhuoming tapped his knuckles impatiently against the table, then frowned and knocked lightly on the boy’s forehead. "Say it, what have you done now?"
"It’s not me!" Jin Yunzhi leaned in close, lowering his voice with an overly serious expression. "This time, it’s Grandpa who’s done something."
His sneaky demeanor prompted Jin Zhuoming to give him a firm slap on the shoulder. His voice sank, "What nonsense are you spouting now?"
His son was getting less and less sensible as he got older—always stirring up trouble, completely lacking the proper decorum.
"Dad, I’m serious!" Jin Yunzhi hugged his shoulder protectively, his grape-like eyes filled with grievance.
It looked as if he might burst into tears if the man didn’t believe him.
Jin Zhuoming cleared his throat, setting down his coffee cup and smoothing his sleeve before leaning forward solemnly. "Fine, let’s hear it."
"Grandpa has an illegitimate daughter, and—"
"Hold it." Jin Zhuoming cut him off, doubting his hearing. "What did you say?"
Jin Yunzhi sighed and leaned closer to his father’s ear, shouting loudly, "Grandpa has an illegitimate daughter! I’ve got a sister!"
"Crash—"
The sound of a coffee cup shattering filled the room. For a brief moment, the hall was silent, followed by the sharp noise of cursing and a chaotic chase.
"Jin Yunzhi! You’re always spewing nonsense!" Jin Zhuoming brandished a slipper, his refined demeanor vanishing in an instant.
He chased the boy in circles around the hall. "I told you to study properly, but no—you had to play video games all day and fry your brain!"
"What does this have to do with video games? Don’t change the topic!" Jin Yunzhi dodged the slipper, clutching Little Strawberry as he dashed wildly.
