The Noble Lady's Rebirth: She just wants to Rest in Peace!-Chapter 31: Feigned Intentions
Lin Youning innocently stared at Kong Tianru.
Kong Tianru always appeared this way whenever she wanted to persuade her to do something in her past life.
Feeling a slight emotion, Lin Youning nodded first before Nanny Chang could speak, her voice sweet and crisp, "Alright."
Her attitude towards Kong Tianru was no different from usual.
Kong Tianru relaxed a bit upon seeing her agree, smiling as she took Lin Youning’s hand and walked towards the pond. The pond was formed by meltwater flowing down the mountain, with a viewing area built below, and a stream further up. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Nanny, stay here. Ning and I will go over there, not far away. Don’t worry," Kong Tianru instructed Nanny Chang who was following.
Nanny Chang lifted her eyelids, "Miss just showed some improvement this morning."
Implying that it wasn’t advisable.
Kong Tianru was the legitimate daughter of the Duke Mansion; being treated so audaciously by a servant was rare. Yet the person before her was the senior nanny beside Mrs. Gu Sr., making it impossible to do anything.
While Kong Tianru’s face turned dark with anger, Nanny Chang stood there motionless, showing no reaction.
Lin Youning privately chuckled. She always felt Nanny Chang was too strict in her past life. After her aunt passed away, she heard Nanny Chang went to guard the tomb and did not return home to enjoy her later years with her children and grandchildren.
Only then did Lin Youning understand that Nanny Chang was a person of deep emotions and loyalty.
In this life, her aunt assigned Nanny Chang to her, and Lin Youning was delighted.
Seeing Kong Tianru frustrated, Lin Youning spoke, "Nanny, please wait for us here. We’ll be right over there, you can easily see us from here."
With that, Lin Youning pointed to a flat boulder by the stream ahead.
Only after Lin Youning spoke did Nanny Chang retreat to the side.
Kong Tianru strained to maintain her smile, holding Lin Youning’s hand as they walked slowly to the large stone. Lin Youning knew Kong Tianru wanted to discuss something, otherwise, she wouldn’t risk offending Nanny Chang to dismiss those around her.
"Ning, since your aunt passed, you must keep a relaxed mind. I notice you’ve lost quite a bit of weight," Kong Tianru spoke softly, ensuring only Lin Youning could hear, and not Nanny Chang ten steps away.
Lin Youning smiled gently, "I don’t feel that way myself. But lately, my second brother often brings me food from outside, and my clothes feel tighter."
Seeing Kong Tianru’s grip tighten on her handkerchief, Lin Youning felt her response was just right.
Wasn’t Kong Tianru concerned about Gu Yixuan?
Hearing he was caring and considerate towards his future wife by bringing her food must surely irritate her.
This was exactly what Lin Youning wanted.
Though she didn’t want to continue her past life’s grudges, she wouldn’t miss the chance to upset her opponent.
"Ning, I really wish I could enter the mansion soon and play together again like before, but now it seems impossible." Kong Tianru sighed, looking helpless, "But don’t worry. You shouldn’t ask Mrs. Gu Sr. to have your second brother bring forward the marriage date, even if it’s delayed by just a few days."
Lin Youning tilted her head, looking as if she understood and yet didn’t. Finally, under Kong Tianru’s expectant gaze, Lin Youning obediently nodded, "Don’t worry, Sister Ru, I won’t mention it to Aunt."
In the past, she would have felt sorry for Kong Tianru, speaking up for her to Aunt behind her back.
Lin Youning often did such things in her past life. She still remembered the look Aunt gave her, which she never understood until she later realized it was disappointment due to being set up.
Not only was she blind, but she also allowed herself to be manipulated.
Aunt and her mother fought hard their entire lives, carefully raising her. Yet, she turned out to be so incompetent, making it inevitable for people to feel let down.
