Xiao reluctantly believed him. “This coach’s judgment is only so-so.”
“It’s obviously great!”
Once the sound of Ji Zhiyao’s last word fell, he suddenly heard someone from the opposite laugh out loud. He lifted his head to look over and found that Hyun Woo was grinning widely.
Sung Min who was seated beside Hyun Woo also appeared to be curious as to why he laughed and asked something. Hyun Woo replied him softly but his eyes darted to Ji Zhiyao as he did so.
Sh*t, he forgot that Hyun Woo could understand Chinese.
But it was so complicated, he probably couldn’t understand it.
Ji Zhiyao silently consoled himself deep down, while on the outside he just stared ahead, and did not look at Hyun Woo either, completely pretending as if nothing had happened.
They sat for another ten minutes, the chat between Mo Huaifeng, Park Jun Ji and the rest officially ended. Mo Huaifeng stood up. “We’ll go to the third level to pick our rooms, after tidying up then we’ll come down to have lunch together.”
The entire team responded with an “okay”, after exchanging bows with Vita, they grabbed their bags and headed for the third level.
Every room on the third level was a single room, not too big but each one had its own bathroom. The rooms were also very clean. The others automatically left the innermost two rooms that were right next to each other for Ji Zhiyao and Mo Huaifeng.
Ji Zhiyao exchanged a few words with Mo Huaifeng then entered the room.
He put his suitcase and backpack aside. His first priority was finding a fresh set of clothes and going into the bathroom for a shower.
Half an hour later, he stepped out after his shower and sprawled out directly on the bed.
He hadn’t really felt it when he was sitting downstairs but once he stepped out of the shower now, he felt tired and sore all over.
And slightly hungry too, but he did not want to go downstairs for lunch alone.
Ji Zhiyao picked up his phone and sent a text in the group chat.
[MelonRind: Let me know when you guys are done washing up, we’ll go down for lunch together. It’s awkward going alone.]
[ManagerYuanWei: I’m already done, the bed is quite soft, I don’t want to get up.]
[MelonRind: All the best Yuan Xiaokui [1. Joke using a character in a Chinese TV drama Lu Xiaokui who kept cheering herself on.], you cannot give up easily!]
[ManagerYuanWei: Seems like only both of us are done, let’s give them some time.]
[MelonRind: Sure, sure, then I shall nap for a while.]
Ji Zhiyao really could not hold on anymore, dropping his phone, he dozed off drowsily.
He slept for some time before he vaguely heard someone knocking on his door from the outside. It took him a great deal of effort to get up and go open the door.
The one who came knocking was Mo Huaifeng, he examined Ji Zhiyao, an obvious trace of a smile showed in his eyes. “What’s with your hair?”
Ji Zhiyao was still in a dazed state, but instinctively reached out and touched his own hair. Totally disheveled, he instantly sobered up and remembered that he had not blow-dried his hair after washing it.
The corner of Ji Zhiyao’s lips tightened.
“You’re going to go down for lunch like this?”
Ji Zhiyao thought, it was his first day meeting Vita, didn’t seem nice to be so casual. Hence he said resignedly, “I’ll go put some water on my hair, give me a moment.”
Mo Huaifeng responded with a “mm”.
A few minutes later, Ji Zhiyao walked out of the bathroom with a head of wet hair. He did not want to keep his teammates waiting and so did not blow his hair but just casually dried it with a towel.
Ji Zhiyao put his phone in his pocket, then closed the door, asking, “Captain, where’re they?”
“I told them to go down first.”
Ji Zhiyao nodded, both of them went down the stairs one behind the other.
On the first level, all the members of Vita were crowded in kitchen, cooking. As they exchange program had yet to officially began, they did not have domestic ladies hired for the cooking and had to do the work by themselves.
Yet all of Mix, excluding Ji Zhiyao were all internet-addicted youths, they were completely ignorant, not knowing how to do anything and could only stand behind awkwardly and politely.
The moment they saw Ji Zhiyao come downstairs, everyone moved deftly to jostle Mo Huaifeng aside, crowding around Ji Zhiyao and pushing him towards the kitchen. Ji Zhiyao was confused and questioned, “What are you guys doing?”
K answered, “Handing a mission to you.”
Followed by Nuo. “Salvage the image of Chinese eSports youths.”
Xiao ended with the final push to send him into the kitchen. “So, go join them!”
Ji Zhiyao looked at the few people who were busying around the kitchen.
He was filled with both surprise and anger.
Yet the thought of the various kimchi and ramen that Koreans loved to eat filled him with dread, Ji Zhiyao gritted his teeth and rolled up his sleeves as he turned back and gave them a warning. “Just wait and see, all of you!”
The others looked up to the ceiling simultaneously, all pretending that they did not hear him.
Ji Zhiyao rolled his eyes and rushed into the kitchen with a very imposing manner.
Seeing him walk in, the members of Vita were slightly surprised. Hyun Woo asked, “Are you hungry? There’s food in the refrigerator.”
“No, I’m here to make some dishes. Since we’re cooking together, we ought to let you guys try some Chinese food.”
Hyun Woo was very much taken aback, but still nodded. “Really looking forward to it, all the best.”
Ji Zhiyao washed his hands, Qee cleared up a small spot for him to wash his ingredients, he thanked him and began to think of what to make.
A chunk of meat happened to be on the table, Ji Zhiyao was inspired and asked, “Can I have a small piece of this?”
Hyun Woo replied, “Of course, feel free to take whatever you need.”
Hence Ji Zhiyao cut up the meat and also chopped up some cucumbers and spinach. As Vita had started way earlier, other than a pot of soup that was still boiling, they were done with the rest of their dishes. They brought the dishes out and Hyun Woo smiled at Ji Zhiyao, asking, “We are done, do you need my help?”
“It’s fine, I can manage.”
“We will wait for you to come eat together.”
“You guys can start without me, I’ll probably need another 20 minutes.” Ji Zhiyao nodded at him, then washed up a pot that had been freed up. He first made an omelette, then used another pot for his sweet and sour pot, blanched the spinach, cut up the omelette and mixed both together for a cold dish.
One cold dish and one hot dish were completed, he checked on the pot with the stew and thought that it was done and turned off the heat for it as well.
Footsteps sounded behind him, Ji Zhiyao turned back for a glance and saw Mo Huaifeng walk in. Letting out an “eh”, he asked, “You’re not eating?”
A complicated look appeared on Mo Huaifeng’s face. “It’s all kimchi, kimchi fried rice and spicy rice cakes on the table, I’m not used to it.”
“Oh dear, my Captain is suddenly becoming really finicky. You joined the training for the previous international league yeah, how did you eat?”
Mo Huaifeng replied after a short silence. “Bought a few cartons of instant noodles and The Godmother brands of seasoning, then got someone to mail it over.”
“You’re amazing!”
It was great to be rich, god knows how many cartons of instant noodles could be bought with the price of the international courier.
Ji Zhiyao pointed to the sweet and sour pork on the table that was still steaming. “Want to try one first? I don’t make this often, it might not taste good.”
Mo Huaifeng leaned over and sniffed. “Smells good.”
Then he used his fingers and pinched a piece, stuffing it into his mouth.
“Is it good?”
“It’s a little hot.”
“So is it good?”
Shouldn’t he show some concern for him first?
Mo Huaifeng could not speak but nodded his head.
Hence Ji Zhiyao called it a day very contentedly and walked out of the kitchen with his two dishes.
